For one, I'd rather have a New Republic series or a KOTOR series
myself. I feel the Clone Wars has pretty much ran out of story material.
Its like, we know what happens already-

It's a little odd to dislike the CW era for a series setting based on tbe notion that it's already crowded and could cause contradictions, when the New Republic era has such a vast amount of content a series would have to wiggle around. Which is not to say you couldn't fit a series in there using more original characters, but the major events (capture of Coruscant by the NR, Imperial resurgent with Thrawn, Luke establishing the Jedi Acadmey trilogy, the final peace treaty with the Imperial remnant, etc) have already been covered.
It'd be much more preferable if they started to adapt stuff like the Thrawn Trilogy, X-Wing series or Dark Empire into either mini-series or limited series. The storytelling is already generally solid enougha foundation to construct such ana daptationa round, and would provide for some stunning visuals (particularly Dark Empire- god, how amazing that could look!).
The KOTOR comics would also lend themselves well to such a format- they're practically a TV series in strucrure anyways.

Any chance that GL may pick this one up like he did with Clone Wars?
I love the trailer for the New Republic toon. I would have liked to see a bit of Kyp, but you can't have everything, can you?!
Dark Luke fighting Leia was pretty cool, though!!

well, i love everything i'm seeing about the Clone Wars right now simply because its Star Wars, hopefully its success will lead to many new adaptations. i see this as a testing ground really, they know clone wars is popular still, so if this goes well, they can branch off into new series, mini-series, and even animated movies from other eras. its all exciting to me. Long Live Star Wars!

G-FETT: Well if we'd have known it was always going to be a fan project, TFN and Rebelscum would have said so in their articles. No mention was made of any hard evidence; we were all in the dark.
Obi-Wan21: Well we'll have to agree to disagree since I can't see how anybody could hate the NJO. Best era, in my book.

bluesaber70: Funny, I remember picking up Shatterpoint and looking on the inside cover and seeing the timeline, with a complicated key about what was a comic, novel, video game... confused the heck out of me, the sheer enormity.

The2ndQuest: I don't -dislike- the Clone Wars, I just think there's much better places to tell a story. And yeah like I said, the New Republic is kinda stuffed full too, but I'd love to have visuals and stuff from existing sources. SHOW Coruscant invaded, SHOW Thrawn kicking butt. Like ppl said, your average Tv watcher doesn't have a clue about that stuff. It'd be fun to inform them.

Don't forget the Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine novel (though, perhaps it's better if you do  ), Galaxy of Fear series, Star Wars Missions series, Mission to Ord Mantell audio drama, Dark Forces, The Ewok TV movies, The Holiday Special, all three Rogue Squadron games, portions of X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, plus some of the obscure stuff even I can't remember off the top of my head
'Tis a busy era, no doubt...
BTW, finally saw this NR trailer, and I must say, that over-the-shoulder shot of Thrawn as he turns towards us really sent chills down my spine. They really should pursue something along these lines, adapting the major stories.

No. I'd rather see a series based on the Old Republic, set centuries before the PT. I'd love to see Yoda's journey from Padawan to Knight to Master to being nominated to the Jedi Coucil.

Lucas has mooey mooey to do with the new series.
IMO, there's just been the cartoon.
Large & small screen SW is canon, unless GL himself cries about it in stop-motion form on a shrink's couch.
The New Republic isn't crowded???
I got tired about reading about how BORING Luke got, or how Leia feels guilty about being a bad mother.
PERSONALLY I'd rather they go RIGHT TO the juicy gap in between EPs III & IV, but we know they will. Until then, I'm gonna watch and see what they come up with for the CW series.
Four main words describe the (admittedly) crowded CW situation, new show impending....
-> It's better than nothing!

Darth_Shpydar & The2ndQuest: Sorry if I misundarstood you, "pre-ROTJ" sounded to me, like, soon before the movie; what you're talking about would probably be better described as "Rebellion era." Yeah there's a fair deal going on there, to be sure, but mainly just fairly-minor stuff, not like New Republic at all, I think.
DarthMateous: Well I agree, if i were to pick ANY time frame at all I'd definately pick Old Old Republic, precisely because it's the area of least story told (although we're thankfully rectifying that with the great comic series). But I was askign between the 2...
Jamiebacca: Yes, I admitted the NEw Republic era is still lacking in elbow-room. And I assume you meant the NJO when you were talking about Luke and Leia; well this is a bit off-topic, but if you want boring, IMO read Legacy. In the NJO you had new story-arcs popping up and each novel felt like an individual. I just started the new Legacy, I couldn't remember the difference between the last 2 books, it's all the same shuffle-footing about.
Ok that was way off-topic. Anyhow, it's interesting to see all your thoughts.

Well, they did recently launch the (rather excellent) Legacy comics set 140 years after ROTJ- something set in that era would be rather neat, but I'd be surprised if they took such a large leap ahead in animated form, unless Legacy's popularity continues to expand like it's done.

140 years isn't enough. You know how KOTOR is 4000 years before ANH. Well, i say they should make a series that is 4000 years after RotJ. Imagine, you can totally start fresh with that timeline. You don't have to worry about books or anything from the NJO. Because 4000 years is so far from the current EU.

the way things are going in the EU there will be no universe left by then. I seriously doubt the jedi would still be around seeing as they cant seem to ever stabalise an order.
Clone wars will be good, but i think TOTR has a lot more generic scope, thats just an opinion if course it may proove to not be the case. I guess it depends on who its aimed at. Kids would recognise the prequels more than the sequels but adults probably wouldnt as much

I think they would still be around. But the Jedi Code might be slightly different though and the main Jedi Temple/Academy would be on a different world. Maybe instead of the Sith being the main baddies for the Jedi( I mean, let's be honest the Sith cow is now being drained and none of the new Sith are reaching icon Vader like standards), the Mandalorians would be their main threat to deal with. It would be cool to see the Jedi have to deal with an enemy that aren't cheesy mutilated religous fanatics( Yuuzhan Vong), stick stickly droids( the Federation/Seperatists), and lame duck emo force users( the new Sith).
