Obviously we have Volume 1 and 2 of the Clone Wars to examine as well as the new trailer. The greatest thing about the new trailer to me was that it had so many shots, that although they were in the animated form, they felt like they were taken directly from the movies. If anyone has links to screenshots that people could use to make this thread easier to enjoy that would be greatly appreciated. Most importantly, have fun with this thread.
Here goes:
there are hundreds more, and even better ones of those, but i wanted to show something to get it started...

also the shot of jabbas palace doors would match this perfect

The CGI in the movies is vastly superior. The CGI of this Animated Series looks like Battle Of The Planets, a 2D Anime cartoon from the early 80's. Some of the more 3D looking Shots look like Lego Star Wars. Man, I am depressed! I keep watching this Trailer to see what everybody else likes in it. I keep hoping that I will change my mind and like it as well, but I just don't.

What are you talking about? Of course the CGI is vastly superior, it's a live action film with millions of dollars spent on it. This isn't about comparing the animation quality, but comparing the cinematic shots to the shots used in the six films as well as the animated micro-series.
Now, I personally, think the CGI is amazing quality, it's much better than anything from the 80's, and what we've had recently. Look at the humans, they look much better than what we've seen from stuff like Spider-Man, the one that aired on MTV, or Jimmy Neutron. They seem fluid aswell, now, it's impossible to judge entirely, and people will always have a problem with CGI, in any media, the films have been crapped on for the same reason, but it
s still some of the best stuff oput there.

Oooh, nice thread!
I've pulled together a few comparisons, some of which are mentioned above;
Get the obvious one out of the way first It's worth noting that in ANH, the beam originates from outside the frame on the right-hand side, whereas in the CW trailer, the beam is moving from the centre, out of the frame. Still essentially the same though, even though we're assuming that this is the Death Star firing in the new CW. Could be a just a 'tribute' reference. Maybe it's a test/misfire?. IIRC, the ANH shot was mirrored for use on RotJ, too.
There's way more flare outside in the RotJ shots, but the idea's the same. Again, we assume it's Jabba's palace (especially after those rumours about Jabba's son), but it could just be an 'homage' shot.
It's that fist-clench that ties the two shots together.
There's something maddeningly familiar about this over-the-shoulder shot in the CW trailer. My memory's telling me I've seen that exact shot before, but the closest I can seem to find is these similar, but not identical, shots.
And while we're on the subject of the first animated CW...
Spends a lot of time falling, old Sammy. You'd think that after Geonosis he'd have picked up Jango's jet-pack or something

I respect what you are saying, but I was expecting this new Clone Wars Series to be more three dimensional. I certainly didn't expect the CGI to be as advanced as the movies, but I did expect it to be somewhere between Pixar level and Jimmy Neutron level of 3D depth. At least Jimmy neutron looks like a 3D world. It looks like Lucas is trying to mix traditional 2D Anime with some 3D elements in the foreground, but Lucas has been saying that this new Clone Wars Series would be an advanced CGI Series. This Series doesn't look that advanced to me; it looks flat and dull. I hope that when I can sit down and watch an entire Episode of this version of the Clone Wars, that I will change my mind.

Out of the shots we've seen, there does appear to be depth, now, there's no real way to judge actual character facial expressions and animation until we see a full episode, but, from what was shown, they have very fluid movement, and the space battles look like they'll be superior to anything we've seen before.
You can't expect something like Pixar quality for an animation program that will have 20 some odd episodes. It costs Pixar alot to just make Toy Story, for what Lucas has achieved, it is pretty amazing in its quality.

i know it is hard for some people to not talk about the quality of the CGI, but remember that this thread is not about whether you like it or not, its about cinematic themes/visual parallels not in quality but in context, lighting, etc.
great comparisons everybody, keep em coming, i'll try and put up some new ones myself
as darthwolvo mentioned, he has tons in the original thread, if he doesn't mind i might link to somme of his to boost the life of this thread

I'd say the last one of Obi Wan looks more like the shots of him in pursuit of Jango and Boba...
Just my opinion.

I apolagize for the tone of my previous Posts. I have been in a bad mood lately, and my grouchyness has crept into what I Posted. Expectations can get the best of me sometimes, but I do look forward to seeing this Series when complete, so I can take in the whole experience. This is good Thread by the way. Keep up the good work.
