That would not be so bad. Television shows are beginning to hire comic book writers more often. Brian K Vaughn (Y:The Last Man) wrote an episoode of LOST this year.

I love the fact that Lucas is going for the big guns, as far as writers go. I was guessing that that was what he would do when he said that he wanted to have all 100 Episodes written before they started Shooting. I like what Lucas is doing, by starting the Series off himself with the Pilot. He will create the main Characters and tone of the Series, and then hand the Show over to a Showrunner, and stable of great writers.
I hope writers from all these Shows get hired. Personally, I am pulling for the Lost writers the most though. They can balance humor and Drama very well, which is perfect for Star Wars.

I think Joss Whedon would have a lot of respect for the feel of Star Wars. I am sure some of his irony and sarcasm would come into play, but I think that can fit into the Star Wars universe just fine. And Lucas isn't only gonna hire one writer. He is gonna hire a whole slew of them, like most shows do. And since Whedon would not be the creator, I am sure his brand of writing would be somewhat subdued but still there.
He did Alien Resurrection. That was cool.

I honestly hope Whedon stays away from the SW saga. I've never thought that his material was of a decent quality. Of course, I'd prefer having individuals like Monica Breen, Alison Schapker, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci work on the television series. Star Wars fans would be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing, plot, and the overall tone of the show.

Huh? His Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series wasn't mainstream? What about the films he wrote for: Toy Story, Speed, and Alien Resurrection? And what about the writing he did in his early days for Roseanne?

I agree about some of their work being subpar. However, their work on ALIAS was great.

Dude, Toy Story he was not chiefly responsible for and he was a staff writer on Roseanne. As for Speed and Twister he did minor script doctoring. His main contribution on Speed was changing a minor character's personality on the bus. Now onto Buffy, angel, Firefly ect... I loved them the crtics loved them, and it they all had a cult following. Not mainstream by any means. That would be like saying Bruce Campbell is America's brightest star. Alot of us like the guy but that doesn't mean the mainstream does.

What I'm saying is that he has contributed to mainstream productions like Speed. And besides, his writing is quite unique and creative, so it wouldn't matter how mainstream he is... he'd be working on a Star Wars TV show, which will succeed pretty much no matter what. Ronald D. Moore only wishes he could write like Whedon.

We've not heard anything about directors. We know Lucas is going to direct the first few episode's, to start it off, and then hand it over. But who he hands it over to, we don't know, at this stage. I think Kevin Smith's name was once linked with this show, but that rumour never seemed to get any credence.
I wouldn't be surprised if a LFL member like Rob Coleman gets it, to be honest.

You get no argument from me on his talents, but I actually am sorta against him taking up Star Wars. He is far too indpendent (which is good for his own work) to take a general storyline from above. That is why he was dismissed from Wonder Woman. His film would have deviated far from what we would have expected. It would have been good but for Star Wars we want it to fit into continuity which Joss would have little regard for. He has major continuity problems in Buffy lol. I love the guy but he's just become too big to work on a tv project not his own. Look to his proteges like Minear, Greenwalt, Fury, Espenson as the people frpm his camp who'd actually do it. Just for the record Buffy, Firefly and Angel are among my favorite shows ever!!
I agree on Ron Moore. First two seasons of Galactica were good, third season not so much.

I forgot about that. But surely he would be better at keeping continuity than Lucas.

Now I'm not positive about where I heard this, but I think I saw on television recently that Rob Coleman would have a part in this. Maybe it was that Celebration 4 special on G4 the other week. I remember he was interviewed and talked about how Yoda was animated for AotC and the new 3D stuff and new cartoons. He also mentioned, I think, involvement in the TV series.
