Tyi, those sort of musings are EXACTLY what this thread is for! 
Here's the latest CBC thread. You will find a list of all the past CBC's underneath the intital post. I'm really proud of some of those threads. Some amazing discussion and analysis.

I just wanted to quickly mention that I randomly thought of this thread earlier today. The "Day in History" section really clicked with me when I stumbled across something which led me to check wiki's information for the date of my birth. And I discovered, much to my delight, that Cadel Evans was born on the same day as me (not year, though). Most of you wouldn't know who that is unless you watched the recent Tour De France - which I followed closely, as it happens. He's an Australian cyclist who came in at #2. Since that is something recent, when I found out about his birthday I was just ... yeah, awesome. And it reminded me of a day in history, so to speak.
But enough of my musings. 
There is too much cheating in cycling for my taste. It's sad really because now I have to question Lance Amrstong who we consider so heroic.

It's sad, true, that cycling always comes back to the problems it is facing now. I just find it disappointing to see cyclists at such a high level - in the cycling world but also in just plain ability - take the tablets and cheat.
Nevertheless, the Tour De France will always have me. Has anybody seen it live? Ever been roadside?

Well me and a couple of mates have booked a holiday to the Canary Islands at the end of September, as a way of me enjoying myself before the onset of old age (brought about by my 30th birthday) desends on me!

I'm going for just a week. 
People I talk to are split on the 30 thing. Some people say, prepare for the worse, because its all downhill from there. Others say, its just a number and does mean anything....
I tell you something though, I was having a kick about in the park with some mates this morning, and my ankle suddenly started to aching. I bet that wouldn't have happened when I was 25!

Oh I was wearing shoes. I think its just the sort of minor aches and pains you start to feel when you do some exercise, without warm-up's, when you reach a certain age.

I've had an awesome weekend... After a lousy summer, its been sunny and warm here all weekend, so I've been mainly outside soaking up the rays. Won'tbe long before the autumn rain and gales roll in I guess....

Don't worry about the 30 thing, I'm 34 and I still act like a child Don't do the football thing though, although I have been known to throw a frisbee around.
Speaking of acting irresponsibly, I sat in the sun between 12-2 today (finishing Dave Prowse's autobiog, snippets to follow ) and got myself sunburnt. Not peeling or anything, but definitely "pink" Just on my shins/top-of-feet and the tops of my arms where I had a shorter-sleeve t-shirt on. My forearms are already tanned, so now my arms go; brown, pink, white as you look up them. Kind of like Neopolitan ice-cream.
Other than that, had a riveting 7 hours yesterday trying to put my old ATI graphics card into the father-in-law's computer. It worked okay, but I think a driver conflict was knocking out the modem. So when the card was working optimally, I couldn't go online to look for newer drivers, so I spent all afternoon flipping between the two modes using System Restore, which took longer each time due to the auto-restore points created by trying different drivers.
Didn't work in the end, put the old card back in. Waiting for ATI to get back to me. Great.
Going to go toy-hunting tomorrow in Reading, hoping The Entertainer will be open on a bank-holiday, because I know they don't do Sundays. Other than that it'll be TRU, Woolies and the department stores.
