Wow, $3.50 for a weekly dvd, normally? Even the normal price here is $2.95 ... and by the way, we have Blockbuster down here as well.

Ya dude, I have no idea how I messed that one up. I didn't see her for a month or so before she left so I didn't really talk to her. I just remembered she was going down to that region and for some reason assumed Australia.

I suppose in the end there's nothing wrong with assuming Australia. It can only mean that the country is at the forefront of your mind.
Currently I'm just at a call centre doing casual work. It's paid by the hour, but it's a good rate. I need money for college costs. And it's extremely flexible, too.

DUDE! Which 3d app are you looking to learn? Do you know any already? That's awesome!
I use SolidWorks everyday at work (I'm a design engineer). I also use 3ds max occasionally for better renderings. But, at home I use maya almost every night. I would like to get good enough at it where I can transition jobs.

I don't know know any programs already, but Maya is definitely the major one I've dabbled in and what would be the focus of my work. I've had the demo for years and just recently acquired the full version. What sort of things do you use such programs for?

Haha yeah man! The only program I'd consider myself and expert with is SolidWorks. I'm not too familiar with Max, but I'm getting better at Maya. I'm taking an online class through 3dbuzz.com. Takes us through concept art all the way to a short story animation. LOT OF STUFF.
What do you use maya for? What stuff have you made/can you do?

Honestly, not much, man. All I've ever used it for is for fun. I haven't actually used it for close to a year, which is shame on me. Macromedia Flash is the portal I started on and was more familiar with. Part of what I'm doing this year is getting back into the run of things so I fully accomplish my college dream. Hey, is that 3dbuzz class free?
I understand what you mean about there being a lot of stuff in Maya, mate. I tell you what! That program is amazing. So what do you use SolidWorks and things like it for in your work, Saber? What do you create?

That 3dbuzz class is not free, but it's incredibly cheap. It's aroudn 300 if you audit the class (just get the videos online). I'm auditing and have received maybe 15-20 hours of video on concept art and modeling so far. There is a TON of info. In my opinion, it is the best dollar for dollar training around. The class is called Maya Advanced Digital Production: The art of creating digital shorts. I would definitely check it out if I were you.
I use SolidWorks to create anything and everything. Complex assemblies, conceptual models, things that government might use. I want to get good enough at Maya so I can transition into that industry from the engineering field. We'll see how that goes!
If I were you, I'd check out 3dbuzz.com, simplymaya.com and the gnomon workshop. They all have great tutorials and quite a few freebies (simplymaya!).

Wow, feels like I haven't posted in ages. Well, since maybe Saturday. I've been and still am on travel to Florida for business. Could have been a worse place for work
My pleasure about the info. Have you had a chacne to look at any of the site? I've been in the class since October. We've only done a little bit of modeling. We've been involved in doing concept art. It's a bit slow, but for the sheer VOLUME of information we're getting, I'm not complaining. You can still sign up!
