Judging from past experience, I think we should take what Rick says with very many grains of salt. In fact, probably an entire salt lick.
Rick is good about telling the fans where they are headed at this very moment, but I think he speaks mainly in ideas and not cold hard facts.
These comments are exciting, but it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too early to tell.
I'm pretty ticked off at the lack of news about Clone Wars. Rick says they have 15 episodes completed? Give us more info! The fanboy has no patience!!!

Multiple series in 3-4 years time?
Well, we do have the two Stargate shows on SciFi, the Law and Order family and the whole CSI group of show that run or ran at the same time.
If anyone can pull this off, it's Lucas. He revolutionized the film industry with Star Wars and ILM, perfected movie/toy marketing and mastered digital gaming so why not add small screen monopolies to his expanding list of entertainment conquests?

Darth_Shpydar posted: On the "different series" concept --
I brought this up in another thread on the show, but essentially it makes me think of the "Action Pack" lineup that aired in syndication in the mid-90s. The actual "series", as it was marketed and sold to affiliates by Universal Television, was the "Action Pack". But the "Action Pack" actually consisted of a few different shows (3 or 4, i think). One of those was a little Kevin Sorbo show, "Hercules". I forget now what the others were ("Tek War" was one), but they were similar style action/adventure shows. As "Hercules" became very popular, the other Action Pack shows were phased out until Hercules went on to become its own regular series. The "Action Pack" eventually became that two-hour block of Hercules/Xena, and included Bruce Campbell's hilarious "Jack of All Trades" and the decent "Cleopatra 2525" before the Action Pack was discontinued with the ending of both Hercules and then Xena the following year.
I can see the live-action series working somewhat like that, with the actual series being "Star Wars: Dark Times", but actually consisting of 3 or 4 different "series"; perhaps a bounty hunter show, a show following a fugitive Jedi, a show featuring early resistance against the Empire, etc. The different "series" would then alternate weeks, airing in the same time slot(s).
LOL Cleopatra 2525 had the worst theme song ever!!! LOL I see your point though.

BlackPool posted: It's not strange at all if you just consider the source. I mean come on! It's McCallum. I suggest holding on for a better source like well, ANYONE else at Lucasfilm, before speculating on anything.
400 episodes would be great! And can we please avoid bashing Rick every time he says something? He might not be accurate all the time but sometimes he's the only source of info we have. If all you can say about him is "Rick isn't very accurate!" then please don't say anything at all. Besides, I'm pretty sure bashing somebody is against the TOS(whether someone is a Mod or not).

This sounds messed up? 400 episodes? They can't all be from episdoe 3to 4. What are the books and comic books gonna have? I'll wait until we get soemthing more concrete. I'm still trying to digest this whole Force Unleashed crap and now this. Why, am I scared about the future quality of star wars?

Actually it's posting about somebody that's a member of this board that's against the TOS. And I'm sorry, but no, I for one will not stop reminding people about McCallum. Or rather, I will when he proves himself worthy as a reliable information source which he has yet to do so. No news is better then false news any day.

Oh well, I tried asking nicely and will just try to ignore your "reminders" if you insist on continuing to post them. However, we can't say that anything Rick says is automatically false unless it contradicts info from other sources. For now I'll continue believing that they hope to do 400 episodes.

All McCallum is saying is that they are HOPING to do 400 episodes not DOING 400 episodes. The number 400 *may* just be over-exaggeration on Rick's part perhaps.
The real news here is that concept artists are working on designs, writers are being interviewed, and the Live Action Televison Series is beginning to happen.

Blackpool can post his view about Rick and anybody else, if he wishes, as long as it stays within the TOS.

Yes! But it was so deliciously horrible that it was awesome.

Meanwhile, i still don't understand why people don't get that the "400 episodes" thing was either meant as a joke or (more likely) an over-exaggeration. You can count on your fingers the amount of television shows (not including news/educational shows, sports programs or daily soap operas) that lasted for 400 episodes -- EVER. Use logic, people.
It just means they'll be making the show continuously until, in the words of Troy McClure "the show becomes unprofitable."

Maybe the show won't remain in the period between episodes 3 and 4. The show may split up into multiple shows and some could go on into the original trilogy and beyond, such as a story arc on boba fett. I don't know.

I was thinking same period but 4 very different storylines set with the backdrop of the empire.

You just never know with someone like George Lucas what they have planned. The man is so innovative and creative it blows my mind half the time....

Exactly. We are talking about the man who changed the movie industry forever. Who is to say he will not do the same now for TV?

I wouldn't expand into television TOO quickly - if they offer too many choices, ironically, people might not end up tuning in.
I'd start with SW: Clone Wars, add 1 live-action series, and go from there. It could branch off, and I'm sure they're thinking big as usual, but I'm not even contemplating holding my breath.
