I loved Carnivale as well, easily one of the best shows that no one has ever heard of, but you don't want their writers. SW fans bitch about Stover and Denning being too dark, the bitching about the darkness of a Carnivale writer would know no ends.

yes probably... but heh McCallum said it will be much darker and character-based, so one can hope. Rome is very violent and dark for a mainstream show, and Lucas says he loves it. well, maybe Carnivale is a bit too much but it is an example of how far you can go on the cable.

<--- hey take a look at this face... It is the ugly face of the galaxy after Ep III, it is the symbol of how dark the galaxy has become, maybe the TV series will go deeper in that direction. Or maybe it will be more of a "gungan: caravan of courage"

Since this television series is supposed to be darker and connect the more civilized age to the destruction's that about to unfold, what better choice than Irvin Kirschner. I know he's not an EU author. But if the ESB is his record, how can you go wrong?

I agree. That'd be awesome to have the creator of Buffy, Angel, and Firefly take a stab at writing for Star Wars. The man certainly has talent.
Michael Reeves is also a solid choice. Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter could easily have replaced most of Episode I. Timothy Zhan is probably the best choice.
I think the KOTOR writers should definately be involved for this poroject.

I don't think any of the EU pretenders have any credentials worthy of writing a SW television script or screenplay. They're novelists and some of the greatest novelists would have no idea how to navigate or write for the medium of television. If any of these jokers are involved then it bodes darkly for the television series as a whole. If they are involved in an advisory capacity, then fine...but why have them advise the story writers when GL is directly and intimately involved at every level of the television series' production.
I personally think the writers of LOST and ALIAS would serve the television series well. I like Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci as television writers; their films have not all been stellar (The Island). Anyway, I really hope none of the EU authors should be hired for the live action show in a writing capacity.

Timothy Zhan, Jon Ostrander, Greg Keyes, and whoever wrote the Han Solo Trilogy (the name escapes me right now).

AC Crispin would be the name you are looking for.

While i generally agree that i'd prefer they avoid EU authors -- unless said authors do have experience writing for the TV medium -- i wouldn't mind seeing A.C. Crispin being involved. I don't know if she has specifically written for TV, but she has done great jobs with novelizations of TV franchises, particularly Trek and V.

I say give everyone who wrote a novel at least one episode, even if their novel wasn't the best.
TV is an entirely different beast.
And they should definitely get some of the EU authors in to write anyway. They can help keep the stories from contradicting the books and comics.
