Lucas apparentally stated that for the TV show they're looking for top TV sci-fi talent-mainly guys from Battlestar Gallactica, Heroes, Lost etc.. Now, a couple of years ago DOCTOR WHO was brought back to the BBC after a fifteen-year hiatus (Well, nine years if you count the 1996 TV movie) and has proved to be very sucessful in Britain, although the repeats shown on sci-fi channel haven't really been that much better ratings-wise than BSG, despite good reviews from publications such as Entertainment weekly.
Now, should Lucas seek out writers from the show? Mainly Russel T. Davies, Stephen Moffat, Paul Cornell etc? DOCTOR WHO sort of strikes a middle ground between family viewing (A few episodes resolved around farting aliens) and more adult fare (Some episodes are actually quite violent)....any thoughts?

Yeah, I wouldn't mind them bringing in Dr Who writers. Dr Who isn't really something I've been interested in, but being from the UK, I have watched a few episode's and it seems well written. As long as the writers they bring on to the TV show have got a good pedigree in successful TV work, I'll be very happy.

Most of WHO's writers have done their own TV series-Gatiss had the Extraordinary Gentlemen, Moffat had Coupling, and RTD of course has a ton of stuff. Cornell is currently writing a Marvel X-men spinoff, that's sort of like TV work...

Moffat I would not mind. His Doctor Who episodes have all been good and Coupling is brilliantly written. Most people hpwever think he will take over Doctor Who aftet this next season. (something I welcome)

I wouldn't mind some Dr Who writers on the SW TV series. But keep the Torchwood guys near it. I don't want Vader and Palpatine rolling around in the sack, thank you very much.

Quite right. I'd like to see Stephen Moffat tackle Star Wars, but if we had any Torchwood writers then we wouldn't last five minutes without unnecessary swearing and a gay or lesbian kiss.

Whilst I enjoy the Doctor Who series, I don't think the writers would be a good choice for an SW TV series. Their storylines aren't really sophisticated enough, especially if the aim is to surpass the Battlestar series.

But Battlestar was weak last year. That boxing episode was horrid.
