I really doubt they would do it with HBO because it's such a limited audience. SW is for everyone and a big channel like FOX or FX (can get away with more) would make the show much more accessible for people.

But HBO has been known to through money around that not even the old networks can manage...and if you equate that with also being broadcast in the best possible format...I could see the appeal for Lucas to sign with them.
And HBO would have kittens as it's subscription exploded...not to mention...if it's on HBO...then it will eventually filter down to like TNT for commercial broadcast...they might even hurry it, so there is only a short delay between seeing it on HBO and seeing it on a commercial station. You pay for HBO, you get the early view.
Speculation...maybe Disney will sweep in for it...do they actually have shows on that station anymore, or is it random screaming preteens and cartoon mutants that have no emotional footing? Everytime I hit those stations, I am perplexed by the sheer stupidity...no wonder kids rarely look up from their gameboys...their tv is junk beyond reckoning.

Disney has plenty of good shows. They just aren't on the Disney Channel - they are on ABC. We have heard they are interested in acquiring the show for ABC, which I think is without a doubt the most likely scenerio. I was recently at Disney World, and the presence of ABC posters/advertisements at MGM Studios is unavoidable. And since MGM is soon to become Disney's Hollywood studios, with a confirmed expansion to Star Tours with more Lucas sanctioned Star Wars presence, it was hard to avoid thinking that Disney really has a strong Star Wars and ABC/Disney partnership planned for the coming years. I mean, heck, half of the Mickey Mouse dolls you see for sale in all the Disney World parks have him in a Jedi robe holding a lightsaber

Exactly and it's good business. I feel ABC is likely to be the channel it ends up on.
