Theres an article about McCallam's latest musings HERE

For those of you who have yet to read through your latest edition of Star Wars Insider, Rick McCallum has comfirmed that Boba Fett "will be an instrumental part" of the upcoming live action series per an interview inside...Insider.

In addition, 4 artists are currently working on designs for the series. Two writers from the UK, one from Austrialia and three from the US are on board but a planned meeting in November was postponed due to the writer's strike. Lucasfilm is considering making an intependant deal with the WGA that could get their writers back to work before the strike ends. (Like what David Letterman has done) They're still hoping for a late 2009 premiere.

George: The TV series will center on unknown and minor characters.
Rick: The TV Series will involve Bounty Hunters, hint hint.
George: The TV Series will be all new characters.
Rick: The TV Series will feature Boba Fett in a signigicant role!

Are these two working on the same show? laugh
Don't get me wrong, I'm chuffed the Fett's going to be in it, but it seems like Rick and George don't spend much time in the same room these days.

Sounds good to me! We know the show is going to be episodic, and him chasing a guy for the bounty makes sense to me.

Well, wasn't it Rick who said they'd like to get several shows going eventually? Maybe they aren't working on the same show! laugh

I don't really care that Boba's in it. I find him to be one of the most boring characters in the Saga so hopefully the TV show will give him more of a personality.

Glad to hear there are writers. We all figured Fett would be in it in some manner, so it's good to get that cinfirmed as well.

I'm kind of surprised that the LAS is being held up by the writers strike, though? I always thought Lucas was 100% independent of the studio system and was not a member of any of screen/writing/acting guilds? Is it just a case of Lucasfilm/Lucasfilm writers wanting to show solidarity with their fellow writers? Or, are we to assume Lucas is not developing this totally independently of the corporations/studio's?

I'd expect he'd have to hire some writers; there's no way he would be writing an entire TV season if it's hour-long episodes, and I'm sure those writers are likely union members.

Oh, dear. I really wouldn't mind the odd Fett appearance, but an integral part? We'll be looking at retcon's for the whole EU from now till the end of time. Hopefully McCallum doesn't really know whats going on, it wouldn't be the first time if my memory serves me well.........

Yeah, it's not that Lucasfilm isn't independent, just that the US writers he'd like to hire are likely part of the WGA, and thus Lucasfilm would either have to negotiate their own interim deal ala Letterman & United Artists or wait out the strike until the Alliance returns to negotiations and works out a blanket deal for everyone.

Well, the UK is mentioned . . . . and Karen Traviss is from the UK . . . . and she seems to know a bit about Fett and the Mando'a culture . . . .

Oh, I hope not. I don't want a series all about trashing the Jedi and depicting the Clones as poor little victims.

Yeah, nothing against Traviss. She's a great writer but we don't need her abilities for this show.

Though I haven't had the chance to read them yet myself, her two Vader-centric short stories have been very well recieved, so Karen's involvement wouldn't necessarily involve clones or Mandos (though the latter are more likely).

Once again people, let's not jump overboard at anything Rick says.

I expect at this point that Fett definitely has a role (Lucas confirmed that, right?), but beyond that, it's a little early to jump to conclusions.

I read one of them and I thought she did a great job of portraying the current humanized Vader. I also should give her credit as I liked her version of Boba Fett, especially in Bloodlines.
