I'm guessing when George conceived this idea, his initial thought was, "Hey, this would be a great way to slurp down a river of cash by dumping a load of pretty pictures all over the world of film and television", and continuity was an afterthought. After all, he just makes up the stuff; it's Leland's job to sort out his mess into a continuous world.
Not that I won't go see it, and watch it on TV, and buy the Blu-ray fifteen-disc collections, and the Special Edition 25-disc collections, and the tie-in plush dolls/action figures/wristwatches/Master Replicas shrunken weapons, but it's just kind of disheartening that the soul of Star Wars seems to have been ripped out Mola Ram-style and replaced with an ATM machine.
You say that just because there are new ships and vehicles?

Hi all,
With the wonderful news of Star Wars coming back to cinemas with the Clone Wars animation, I just had to do something to celebrate...and here is the result
My own custom trailer for the Clone Wars series/movie.
Made in the style of the prequel trilogies I guess.

DUDE! That was great. I got chills when I saw it. It was definitely like the other trailers. Well done! I wouldn't mind seeing this type of trailer for the theater debut on TV.

Do you think Clone Wars theatrical releases are going to become a yearly thing? Instead of a season premiere perhaps they'll have season theatrical releases. I'd personally love it if they'd release a couple more of these things so we'd have a big Clone Wars Trilogy.

Well Dreamer does definitely suit u...cuz i think that has no chance of happenening...after all this is meant to be a TV series...the movie premiere idea was an after thought according to lucas...
ur the first person ive heard put that idea out there...not a bad one but i dont seeing it happen...tho i would love it 2

UPDATE #4: Well we,ve been speculating since the Hasbro meeting and we now have a confirmation. Star Wars is coming back to the big screen in the form of Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Hitting North American theaters on August 15th, the series will then continue with 30 minute episodes on the Cartoon Newtork with repeat airings on TNT. International dates will be released soon.
What a way to wake up! 
When are Lucasfilm/Warners going to show us international fans the love and gve us our release dates,its been nearly four weeks now and its not nice,its lovely to hear everybody else getting excited but until i get to know when i will be seeing it i just cant get my enthuisiasm up if anybody has got any info on this id love to hear it-BTW i come from the UK and can we oversea fans have some love we need it while we have to wait!!

It's true. You guys in the UK deserve to get your release date ASAP. I mean it was your guys sound stages that gave us so much Star Wars joy in the first place.

Yeah, that's really not fair. I thought they would have some news on that by now, but I guess I'm wrong. I haven't heard anything about that. Sorry man, I'm sure you'll get info on it soon enough.
And Dreamer, yes, I think a yearly theatrical release COULD be possible to kick off each new season. I think they're just going to have to wait until they see how this one does.

The Clone Wars theatrical release seems to be a one-time deal. Here's what Steve Sansweet had to say during Jedi-Con:

The upcoming CLONE WARS animated movie is indeed the first three episodes put together-though there is a special beginning section newly created to launch the story-originally it was planned that you would start in the TV series in the middle of an adventure (a la STAR WARS) but this was changed by Lucas for the theatrical versions. As well as standalone episodes, there will be two and three part episodes. There will not be future CLONE WARS animated films as far as Sansweet is aware-it is a one off to help launch the 22 episode series. They are currently projecting three seasons of the animated show, of which work has already begun on three to four episodes of Series Two already.The current projection for the live action series is still 100 episodes, of which it is hoped the third series of the CLONE WARS will be airing at around the same time.

I still want a fixed date.

actually yea im a bit worried now about international release...hopeful its like te prequels and we get it at the same time...but that was with fox and this is warners bros...hopefully lucas can keep it good 4 us
and apparently new trailer next week...exciting stuff

I found several release dates now, between August and September. 
I hope one of those is correct, and, if I got that right, the release will be on the same day for all of Europe.
