Obi-Chron posted: In other words, Maul , the animated 3D movi is not EU but canon character development from the mind of Lucas that happens between AOTC and ROTS. The TV series which follows the movie then carries that plot point forward.
The canundrum caused by an EU board now debating PT character development from a canon (Lucas) source. Bad move putting Sx3's thread here, as anything from the mind of Lucas affecting the six films is not really EU (such as books and screen plays about the movies, which include canon material not seen in the movie in the same way the 'tweener' animated movie will do -- only in much more detail).
Lucas' vision has transcended the structure of these boards. Sx3 brilliantly recognized that, and for his insight he became caught in the middle of the resulting chaos. His situation is much akin to Qui-Gon before the council -- having much deeper understanding of the dynamics at play around us than the so-called 'masters.'
Now that Lucas is at the helm of the animated movie/series and live action series, Sx3's thread should serve as the spring board for an entirely new board under " Star Wars Films and LucasFilm Projects." This board could then address:
- the animated 3D movie
- the animated TV series
- the live action TV series [hmm, do you THINK it will launch with a movie too?]
- other tbd Lucas works [see above comment]
"Learn from the past, prepare for the future, live in the present."
" Search your feelings. You know it to be true! "
As always, Obi-Chron...
"You have become a far greater poster, than I could ever hope to be."

I couldn't come up with an appropriate response last night.
I log-in today, only to find that you already had it aced.
Bravo, good sir...

EU or not (personally, I say not) it does not matter that this series is going to further flesh out the characters. Just because there are comics and books that fill in the gaps between the OT films, does that mean that George botched those characters developments? Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that we are getting more development for Anakin, and I think this series can only improve upon the PT cast and their growth as characters. But that does NOT mean the PT messed up. George is not making this series because he thinks Anakin didn't work right in the PT - he is making this series because he thinks (accurately, I might add) that the kids are going to eat up more Anakin/Jedi/Clone action.
He may feel that he messed up on not showing enough of the Clone Wars - that I agree with (as well as the Anakin and Obi-Wan friendship, not shown for real until ROTS). But George knows he spent enough time on Anakin, his issues, his fall, and his attachment problem - just because he wants to explore it some more and have some fun doesn't mean he did it wrong the first time.

I was at work, so I missed the fact that SSS was responding to Fettish's post. I didn't really understand how the pics he posted added to his comment...
I've already said before that I support moving this thread back to teh PT forum.
But I'm not exactly sure why we need to move SW:TCW and SW:Live Action in with the Saga.
SW:TCW you have a better argument for, but the Live Action show is decidedly NOT part of the Saga.

For most of the years between the OT and the announcement of the PT, whenever my friends and I would talk about the unmade Episodes I - III, we would say, "When are they going to make those Clone Wars movies?" We just assumed that's what they would be about based on Obi-Wan's dialogue in ANH. Funny how that's only really starting now that the PT is finished!
I am excited about this movie and show because, unlike the PT, it doesn't have the burden of having to hit certain expected or necessary plot points, so it can just be adventures, more like the OT. MacGuffin, someone gets captured, someone has to rescue them, it's a trap, sneak attack, etc, like the old serials Lucas loved. And the characters get to develop more naturally that way, instead of having to hit their marks: in the PT, it's all, okay, Anakin has to fall in love, or start to turn dark, Palpatine has to take over, all the other Jedi have to die, etc., which is fine, but it's nice to be free of that. In fact the only thing that has to happen in TCW, really, is that everybody who's still alive in ROTS has to survive TCW (I don't care about EU continuity).

AhsokaMiro - I actually said that, not SSS
But, yeah, I totally agree with you! I like the Prequels (especially ROTS, but I enjoy the first two for the most part) but they were burdened with what they had to show. I see The Clone Wars as a chance to have some real fun with the era

I'm all for some fun. That's what TFN 'used' to be.
Getting back to 'fun' on these boards would be . . . well . . . FUN!
