"Jim, a father of two boys – Tom, nine, and Dan, four – made his directorial debut with Dead Man’s Cards, also filmed in Liverpool.
It so impressed legendary Star Wars creator George Lucas, that he asked Jim to direct episodes of the eagerly-anticipated Star Wars television show next year."
So why does the name "Marquand" sound familiar? Well Jim's father Richard Marquand directed "Return of the Jedi". Click here for the full story.

Very exciting news! Makes me feel like it's all that much closer. Plus, part of me kind of felt like it might not even happen for whatever reason. But with every news bit like this, it becomes more and more a reality.

Definitely. Having some concrete news definitely gives the feeling that the LAS is progressing along. I knew that name sounded familiar. Personally, I may be alone in this, and I know it'll probably never happen, but I'd rather see George directing.

I am glad that we have movement on the directorial front. I get more and more excited about this project every day.

Yeah, it's not really that concrete — and even then he just said a few episodes — but at least it's news. It's moving the series more into the limelight. They'll have to decide on this stuff sooner or later. Interesting name to hear, I must say!

I would say its pretty certain. Nobody is allowed to mention anything about up and coming SW projects, without permission from LFL. I think he would have been told by Lucas that its OK to talk about this. I would expect an official LFL announcement, imminantly.

I would bet on an announcement during Jedi-Con in Germany at the end of the month.
And also Daniel Logan as taking back his role in the series (both Logan and McCallum will be there)!

This series has been very ethereal for years now, so I'm a bit cynical when we get news. I'm guessing that as the summer rolls around, we'll be getting a lot of news. If they're aiming for a fall '09 air date, they're going to have to get to work pretty soon.
I'd bet that GL gets behind the camera every once in a while for this series.

I am afraid of the havoc Kevin Smith would wreak on the Star Wars universe. Given Kevin Smith's resume, can you really see him catching the tenor of the SW universe? I have a hard time seeing it happen.
