Is it online anywhere?

i have no idea. they said that it would be on StarWars.com SHORTLY AFTER it was on tv. it's still not on! what's going on?

actually, I re-read the article and they don't mention it being put online at all.

I'm guessing it will be up this evening, since it's the theatrical debut of the trailer tonight.

Then what's THIS from ComicBookBin:

Star Wars Website Exclusive Home for "Clone Wars" Trailer
By The Editor
May 9, 2008 - 4:15:29 AM

Star Wars fans got an unprecedented look at the newest intergalactic adventure on Thursday, May 8, when the world-premiere trailer for the upcoming CG-animated movie Star Wars: The Clone Wars debuted across five Turner networks simultaneously.

At 7:58 p.m. in all U.S. time zones, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, CNN, and Boomerang debuted the action-packed, two-minute preview of the animated adventure from creator George Lucas and Lucasfilm Animation. This marked the first time a theatrical trailer has received a simultaneous, cross-network airing on Turner Networks. The trailer debuts in theaters on Friday, May 9, along with the first poster for the movie.

Opening nationwide on August 15, 2008, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

“By combining the power of the Turner Networks and the power of the Force, we’re able to create a fantastic event for Star Wars fans of all ages,” said Howard Roffman, vice president of Lucasfilm Ltd. “We’re incredibly proud of The Clone Wars, and eager to be able to showcase it for the first time in such an exciting way.”

The newest tale of adventure, intrigue and excitement in a galaxy far, far away
combines the legendary storytelling of Lucasfilm and the Star Wars Saga with a signature animation style from Lucasfilm Animation.

Following its broadcast debut across the Turner Networks, the trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars is available for viewing exclusively at the official Star Wars website, http://www.starwars.com.

On the front lines of an intergalactic struggle between good and evil, fans young and old will join such favorite characters as Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin’s padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The theatrical release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars tells an all-new story that leads directly in to this fall’s premiere of a weekly, animated "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" television series on Cartoon Network, followed by airings on TNT.

I think everything was stylistically designed to be that way. They obviously weren't going for the look Yoda had in AOTC and ROTS or most other heavily involved visual effects movies. It seems as though Star Wars has been the first to do many things in the film world regarding effects and style and I think this is just another way George is evolving the way he makes movies. I think it would be very difficult to make everything "realistic" looking for a television show and I think it's good they're not going in that direction. The style gives it something of its own.

Like I said, the CGI looks good for a TV series. But for a big-screen release, it's the overall uneven quality of the animation itself, as well as the character designs that bothers me. Its' like some designs/models were given a lot of care and attention (Anakin, the Clones, Ventress), and others almost look half-finished (Yoda, Obi-Wan, Dooku, and especially Jabba). Basically, the style doesn't seem consistent with itself. Anakin looks only slightly cartoony...Obi-Wan looks totally cartoony, and the Clones barely look cartoony at all. Which style are they going for?

I dunno, I know this "movie" has probably all-but paid for itself already, but I think the box-office returns on it may be surprisingly low...then again I also don't know how wide a release they're planning. It could be that it's only going to be in a semi-limited number of theaters anyhow as opposed to a "full fledged summer-blockbuster release."

I think the humans all look pretty consistent.

I'm not sold on Yoda or Jabba yet.

But I think (I'm hoping) that it's the type of animation that looks much better in a moving, fluid setting than in stills.

The animation is as inconsistent as the characters. Some of the movements--particularly in the fighting scenes--look very natural and flow very nicely, but a lot of the more casual parts--things like people talking, walking--have a very stiff and badly done quality of animation. Its not that its deliberately styled that way, because sometimes its not like that, this type of thing just happens when you have animators that aren't the cream of the crop or don't have enough time to iron a shot out, you see it often in lower-grade CGI television shows and in video game cinematics. Its highly distracting when it crops up here because some of the animation is well done. For a television show this is high quality, but to sell it as a theatrical feature its not nearly up to snuff.

I think you're wrong, and once again Lucas has to use his reference points for some reason - why not just make a ____________ cartoon for once? Lucas specifically mentioned the old marionette Thunderbirds as a reference point. I didn't think he needed to strength the association of Star Wars with wooden acting, but oh well.

I agree it's still high-quality for a TV show, but I'm afraid we're just going to have to get used to the stiff walking and talking.

No, because sometimes its not all stiff and amaturish, only in some shots it is. If it was deliberate stylistic choice it would all be done like that--and its highly questionable that someone would make a deliberate stylistic choice to make it look like badly-done CGI animation. Thunderbirds had a totally different sort of movement, and it doesn't look like that. The models sort of do in the way they look sculpted and plasticy, but the animation is not only inconsistent, its also consistent with what happens in television series and lower-grade CG material.

I think they realized that if the Jedi walked around like marionettes, it would look retarded.

But the close-ups and speaking animation looks a lot like Thunderbirds to me.

I've finally seen it now. Thanks to everyone for doing LFL job's for them and posting links on here tongue

I like it, myself. No, the animation's not as fluid as, say, Pixar, but, didn't this company JUST get started? Cut 'em some slack. Also, I'm looking forward to more Star Wars STORY, so I'm very pleased to be getting it, no matter the avenue.

Come on August 15th dancing

Seeing it digital twice on the big screen at C IV was a blast. It has an epic scope.
Sure it's visually not on par with Pixar's work (probably a time and budget thing) but it has a very distinct look of its own.
The characters look like wooden or rock sculptures. It sort of has that The Incredibles look mixed with GT's Clone Wars.

Thunderbirds, aye? That's the first time I heard about this. Any source where Lucas and Co. mentioned this?
All I remember as far as other pop cultural references go is that Anakin is said to have some character similarities with Cowboy Bebop's Spike Spiegel.
