Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of the trailer. I really hope this movie is good and does well so we can see more. I cannot get enough SW but this trailer is just "meh". The plot does not seem all that interesting and throwing Jabba the Hut into the mix is awkward. Then it cuts to random fighting that does not seem to even deal with that plot. the Yoda lines are also pretty cringe worthy and the little quips from other characters. Only Assaj seems to have a brief line that has meaning/intrigue. Everything else is either contrived or just boring.
I was pretty disturbed by the AotC teaser as well but ended up living the movie so I'll still plan to see this with an open mind.

Well they didn't exactly switch it to the big screen. They're just debuting the show in theaters and then it will continue on the Cartoon Network sometime in September/October. I think the announcement of the big screen debut was made sometime aroudn the end of February (forget exactly)

but it's obviously influenced by the Thunderbirds. I think it's more of an explanation than an excuse.
The Thunderbirds wasn't a style, it was a low budget TV show for kids using standard marionettes.
I guess the marionettes in Team America are a style too, or maybe they are just marionettes, hmmmmm?
I know very well what The Thunderbirds is; I don't understand your point. Even if it's a low-budget marionette show, it still has its own style.
At any rate, I'm sure by the end of the movie, I'll be fine with the animation.

One of the things that has me most excited is the animation. I think it looks great. The character designs rock and I just love the sort of "smooth" look to it all.

What Lucas/whomever mentioned Thunderbirds was referring to the visual look, not the animation style. The CGI models look like they are sculpted, the way marionettes are. The movement is definitely not like a marionette, not only would that be ridiculous in a CGI movie it would be highly obvious. The movement and animation is a totally realistic one, thats why its just poor animating when it looks bad, its not a style, you see it all the time in television, especially the early CG shows like Reboot and Beast Wars.

Sorry, you're right, I meant visual style, definitely not animation style. It is a weird combo, but again, I think it will look more fluid in the actual series.

What type of money do you think this will this pull in at the theatre? $100 million or like the movies $300 million plus?

Depends on the box office competition; certainly kids will want to see it, and they might be bored of Kung-Fu Panda by that time.
I would expect about $150 million as a high estimate.

I'd $30 million if it does poorly, $50-90 million if it does okay, and probably $100-150 if it does really well. At a budget thats probably less than $10 million the Star Wars goose has never laid an egg more golden. Plus, theres a DVD release but then we buy the whole thing again when we get the season boxset.

Here's the official Quicktime links to the Clone Wars trailer, they say Lucasarts but I found them on the main page at starwars.com.

Okay, I just watched the trailer in HD, and I gotta say, it looks pretty slick.
I agree that it's just not as exciting as the first trailer, but it looks like we'll get plenty of excitement.
Obi-Wan vs. Ventress reminds me of some awesome scene from the Jedi Knight games - in the best way.

Is that Tarkin Mace Windu is talking too via hologram at 00:25?

In 1977 George Lucas created the Star Wars Trilogy and changed the way we look at movies. In 1999 George Lucas created the Prequel Trilogy and changed the way we look at Star Wars. Frasier, Lost, and Whose Line Is It Anyway? are the best tv shows ever.

Some people think that's him and I'm beginning to agree with them.

I think it will do pretty well at the box office. So far,I think the only good competition it may get is from Tropic Thunder (which does look pretty good). I think that it can beat that out, however.
I just watched the trailer in HD a little bit ago...wow. That was a nice to watch in HD.
