I meant to post this informative link from the wook about the LAS:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_live-action_TV_series

Also I found the last interview from Lucas dated a year or so ago about the LAS:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/lucas-puts-star-wars-in-sydney/story-e6frexlr-1111117105055

SYDNEY remains filmmaker George Lucas' favoured location to shoot his much-hyped Star Wars spin-off TV series.

The sci-fi TV series will likely be filmed at Sydney's FOX Studios.

"We're looking to shoot it in Australia," Lucas told a press conference at his Big Rock ranch, the site for his new animation studio, north of San Francisco.

If given the green light, the live action Star Wars offshoot will be one of the most expensive TV productions made in Australia and create hundreds of acting and crew jobs for the local industry.

There was speculation the as yet untitled series would begin shooting next year, but it may be pushed back to 2010.

Lucas has employed two Australian scriptwriters to pen the series and continues to work on "getting all of the technology worked out" to make the show.

The 63-year-old director, writer and producer, who revolutionised cinema with 1977's Star Wars, is no stranger to Sydney.

He made 2002's Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and 2005's Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith at Fox Studios.

"It is going ahead," Lucas confirmed.

"We're in the process of writing screenplays right now.

"It's going to take a while because it's really hard to do."

The series will not follow the regular Star Wars storylines, instead focusing on the "lower levels of life" of Lucas' Star Wars world.

"It has nothing to do with the Skywalker saga," Lucas said.

"None of the Skywalkers or anything.

"This is what I call a little footnote to the Skywalker saga.

"... It is about the lower levels of life, the lower depths.

"They hear about the fact it is no longer a republic and now it's an empire, but they are from a world where none of that really means too much to them."

Quinlan Vos's "appearance" in Episode 1 is an EU creation, and not even close to G-Canon to my understanding.

Now Vos is made G-Canon with his mention in Episode 3, just don't make the mistake of officially thinking George inserted Vos into Episode 1. He didn't. A writer just spied a similar looking guy and ran with it.

The EU is the one that identified that extra as Quin, but Lucas usually sticks with all those background character names as canon, and even if that weren't the case, given he tried to put him into ROTS matching that character design as exatrpolated in the EU, I don't see any reason why he would countermand that.

Hm, connecting the dots, what about a Tatooine/Jabba-centric series? Seeing how Jabba already appeared in the pilot arc of TCW, he's still got some importance at LFL. All the rumours about Boba Fett and other criminals and even the AICN podracer story... Jabba would definitely be the nexus for that, it might even end up "explaining" Fett escorting Jabba in the ANH SE. And as far out as he's located, he wouldn't really care about which government operated on Coruscant. Setting the series on Tatooine would also be the only possibility to include an Obi-Wan cameo (if there's any truth to that, which I'm not so sure about).

I think it's the most likely combination you can take away from current rumours. But then again, being unreliable is why they're called rumours, right? wink

Sansweet said at his panel today it would most likely air in 2012, pre-production is well underway, and only George, Rick McCallum, and the writers know the story. He also responded to fan fan asking about Daniel Logan reprising Boba Fett and responded with "you should be hearing from his reps in the near future." So take the Young Indy concept and replace with Fett. Might work. tongue

TF.N posted:
•Live Action TV series confirmed, most likely airing 2012.
•Weekly drama show.
•One hour episodes.
•Possible “news from Daniel [Logan’s] camp in the not-too-distant future.”

So, slowly the rumours are being confirmed.

Classifying it as a "drama show" is interesting. It points to the fact that, like most TV series, the show will tone down the adventure/action aspect a bit, in favour of character interaction. Not a bad thing, but we'll have to see how such a format fits with Star Wars...

Daniel Logan....please let it be true. Boba Fett as the star would be absolutely awesome. The two most obvious titles for the LAS are "SW: Dark Times" and "SW: Scum and Villainy". The way Sansweet pitched, the latter would be better IMO. Someone mentioned Young Indy, that got me thinking. Imagine the first episode: yellow opening crawl intro-ing the series ("it's a dark time, empire pwns, jedi dead, etc.") and then camera pans down to Tatooine. Cut to surface of Tatooine - Luke is being pushed out onto the plank. The next few minutes of action plays out - it's just the scene from ROTJ being played over in the show. Audience is going "what the???". Then, Boba goes into the Sarlacc. Sarlac burps. Cut to black. Fade in, smoking wreckage of sail barge. Pan camera down to Sarlacc. Muffled explosions, then a massive burst of sand and fire, and an armored figure blasts out of the Sarlacc pit. It's burned, broken, bedraggled Boba. He crawls a few meters and collapses. Shadow falls over him, pan camera up to Dengar. Later, Dengar and Boba are sitting in Mos Eisley Cantina, band playing. Some dialogue, then Boba (played by Temuera Morrison) mentions his younger days in the Dark Times...then begins to tell the story. Episode with Daniel Logan ensues in Dark Times era. Older Fett bookends the close of the episode. Rinse, repeat for the rest of the season, with elderly Boba talking to people (or simply himself, or his dad's helmet, or penning his memoirs). It's similar to the Young Indy series with "old eyepatch Indy" talking to people about his youth. Now would that be epic, or what?

Like I've repeatedly said, if they aim for something like BSG, I'd be overjoyed. praying

I'm just going to edit the title so everyone's aware.

I'm not sure why the Star Wars Examiner blogger is saying the series is "confirmed" when it has been confirmed since 2004 and reconfirmed by Lucas himself in countless interviews and appearances since then.

Most of what Steve Sansweet has said by Star Wars Examiner DragonCon article, Sansweet has stated in previous interviews this year: the 2012 date, hour-long drama, pre-production starting etc. The new stuff being "Possible news from Daniel [Logan’s] camp in the not-too-distant future.” (McCallum mentioned wanting Logan to reprise Fett at Celebration Europe 2007).

In fact that is real news here is, regardless how you feel about Daniel Logan, a major series role will possibly be announced and that role will be for Boba Fett!

It's certainly exciting to finally hear some news about the live action series from Lucasfilm. Expectations for the series are so high and I can't wait for it to finally reach our screens. However, surely I'm not the only one who has never quite understood the fascination with Boba Fett and hopes desperately that the live action series isn't just an "Adevntures of Young Boba" type of affair. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be good, but the idea does turn me off somewhat. Am I the only one who feels like this? I've been a Star Wars fan since I was about four years old. I'm now 33.

Yeah, I've never really gotten the whole Boba Fett thing, but I don't think this will only be about Boba.

I just can't help but think that somewhere along the way, we'll get a Han Solo type (or even Firefly, if you will), especially if this is going to have a more dramatic angle to it.

_ _ _ _

The writers would do well to look at the example that the Clone Wars series has set. It's introduced an extremely wide range of characters and taken us to many, many worlds that we'd never really seen before. Visually, it's also been breathtaking at times. They've really shown us that there's a whole galaxy of characters and stories out there to be told. I do hope that the live action series will gave a grittier, more adult-oriented feel to it than the Clone Wars, but that it will also take us from one side of the galaxy to another with lots of interesting stop-offs. I do also think there needs to be the occasional appearance by Vader and Palpatine, even if it's just in HoloNet news reports for the most part. However, we don't need to see Jedi all over the place as they've supposedly been almost completely wiped-out during Order 66 and the Jedi Purge. If we end-up seeing too many Jedi, it'll just end-up looking desperate and feeling like some of the crappier fan films.

I hope the Myan calendars are wrong and the world won't end until at least 2013.

I've always been down with Boba, I feel there's some good potential left with the character, as he left a lot of mystery in the air in the OT, which is why people like him so much.

Also, "Death, Lies, and Treachery" made me want to see a whole lot more of him.
