I'm not sure what the current makeup of Adult Swim is since I Tivo particular shows now more than just leaving it running in the background like I used to when it first launched, but they used to have more of a focus on anime and action shows saturday nights, while comedy was for sundays and tentpole shows- though they eventually mixed in Futurama and Fmaily Guy into saturdays too.
Regardless if that mix is still going on or not, it's getting the show to more viewers who might not have seen it- people looking for more adult animation than typical kiddie fare and high school/college kids/adult swim devotees.
