I read where Lucas said it wouldn't have any main characters in it.

I read somewhere that Lucas said that the main characters will only make very rare appearances on the live-action show.

He said that main characters will either not appear at all or just have minor parts.

And yet he's asked Logan to come back on as Boba Fett.

I think by main characters he might mean the droide, Vader, little Luke and Leia, Teen Han, etc

Some people may find it hard to believe that Boba Fett is actually considered a "Minor" character. tongue

I think that re-casting Logan as Bobba Fett would be a great effort for continuity. I would have to think that it would be very rare for a character to be reprised as much older, but by the same actor. Especially from Child to Adult. I can't testify to how could of an actor Logan is, but he has a sporting chance to be just as good as any other actor.

I would have to expect that Vader and Palpatine would get references from time to time on the LAS. I just wonder how many "cameos" will end up being too much? Still, the familar can be fun. I'm sure we will run into a junior Han Solo or Lando at some point in the Live Action Series (wish we had a name by now).

It will be weird having a Star Wars show without R2 and C3PO in the middle of things. I guess in keeping with the Star Wars formula, there will be new droid to take their place.

Side Note:

Hey! Looks like I have been here 10 years now! Wow. This must be my oldest active online forum account. The only other forums I was using 10 years ago were Quake2/3 ones. grin I've been here since the last Millennium.

Although the live action series does offer an excellent chance to develop some new characters and fill-in some of the blanks between ROTS and ANH, I think Vader and Palpatine will have to appear in some shape or form during the series. Perhaps we might get the odd appearance in person and, in addition, get a glimpse of them on a HoloNet news report that another character is watching in a cantina or a bar. The HoloNet News idea was used to goo effect in the novel "Dark Lord" to reveal how Obi-Wan discovered that Anakin/Skywalker hadn't died on Mustafar.

Well, after Anakin does his youngling slap-chop in the Jedi Temple, Yoda refers to him as "Vader". So the secret would be out, and ObiWan likely knew that Anakin was "Darth Vader" even before they fought. So I'm guessing that it wasn't really a secret for very long.

I did later notice that I'd typed "Anakin/Skywalker" rather than "Anakin/Vader" in my previous post but, pedantry aside, it is at the end of "Dark Lord" that Obi-Wan, now on Tatooine, discovers via a HoloNet news report that Vader did not die on Mustafar. I mentioned this merely as an example of how Vader and/or Palpatine could make appearances in the series without actually being directly involved in the action. That is, after all, what the thread is about.

Coming back to whether they should make an appearance in the live action series, I'd have to say that I think it would be a huge disappointment to many fans if they didn't appear in some way, shape or form.

The actors are still trying to put Darth Vader in the show.

Considering how Spock, MCoy, and Scotty all appeared in ST:TNG, I would expect to see some references and cameos of Vader. Palpatine not so much. But who knows. We are all just speculating on the scope of the LAS.

This is a good point. You've got to think that the success of the new Star Trek has upped the ante for the Star Wars franchise. For many years Star Trek hadn't really been making news and now it's threatening to become the crown jewel of sci-fi franchises with this new revamp. If JJ Abrams succeeds in putting together a very good trilogy, everyone will be talking about how Star Trek has surpassed Star Wars (if they're not already).

The reality is that Star Wars is a far superior mythology that's been poorly executed of late. I get that a major audience for this series is children, but you can cater to kids and still put out a high quality product (see Pixar).

As no Star Wars movies are on the horizon, the LAS presents the Star Wars franchise with the best opportunity to make an impact in current pop culture. I hope Lucas and co. fully appreciate the opportunity they have here and don't squander it.

This is a ridiculous scenario. The new Star Trek movie looks like a Star Wars-orgasm . Star Trek couldn't be successful without looking like Star Wars with the help of ILM wizards, putting space battles in it and action. The young Kirk looking into the horizon in the new film says it all - the new Star Trek film is a Star Wars formulic piece. Star Wars is original and doesn't need to compete with frivilous Hollywood garabage like Star Trek.

True ^^^^

I haven't heard Lucas say anything about having characters like Vader appear in the series. In fact, I've actually heard from his mouth "that they won't be seen, but they'll be heard about." Who knows.

But, it is interesting about Daniel Logan.
