....................Before I start this thread, I want to mention 'bout the previous one.When I began performing,I'd supposed that it would be a short letter,and as I began to write,it became longer than I expected.I read the replies to the topic I posted.Even I couldn't guess that it was gonna take that long,so I shall try to take this thread shorter than the other.
....................Through the end of the previous topic,I'd invited you to a journey across time,and took you back approximately 35 years before.This time I shall request another journey;not 35 years before,but a travel to a very long time ago;hundreds,thousands of years before,in a time period of the golden age of a civilization.To an era of the Great Pyramids and the Pharaohs,where there appeared to be a perfect civilization that can't be matched with today's nations.Sounds too far?...Than keep on reading,I presume you'll see there's more in this example than meets the eye...As you assume;the civilization I've mentioned above is Egypt,and as I've told;it was a civilization (in my opinion) that might be described as "best- ever".But how had they achieved those standarts?...Although they hadn't seized any technology-based machines (there weren't anything existed related with electricity),they had built huge-sized pyramids which can be barely made by today's architects (who seize a lot of machine-based opportunities;well enough for "technological demonstration" 'bout architecture),and also the pyramids were a consequence of a great combination of architecture dexterity and mathematics.
....................Besides;to make huge/complicated buildings those require high-architecture cleverness is something,to make those buildings compatible with mathematical standarts;that's something else.Man,they had achieved the fundementals of "Sacred Geometry";they knew how to manipulate the "life-energy" which's formed by the five shapes within that branch of science;and the pyramids are one of that five (to test it in the experimantal way;I've built my own miniature,three-sized pyramid from cartoon.But a pyramid is not enough for the experiment;a compass and a thin chain (I use a necklace chain) are also needed).And moreover;they had also built those structures proportional to the setting of the "Orion Constellation".How had they managed to go that far?...By the help of the extra-terrestrials those decribed as the "ancient astranouts"?...I also believe in the existence of the UFOs,but perhaps it wasn't related with the Spacemen at all.
....................How do you measure a civilization's standarts?...I measure it not only with technology,but mostly with the "state of mind" that the civilization's people reach.Ok,there weren't enough technology or electric-based machines,but (in my opinion) the people of Egypt had reached the "always-bettering- themselves" state of mind which makes them superior from today's civilizations.That "state of mind" provided them to make excellent structures with high patience and great determination...
....................Now I'm taking you back to the present era and asking the same mold of question from the beginning of the previous pharagraph.How do you measure a Science-Fiction Movie's standarts?...With the technology effects?...Yeah,they're also necessary for a Sci.-Fic. Movie,but the most important thing is the "state of mind" that the maker of the movie reaches.If the director of the movie (like George Lucas) has "creative ideas" in his mind,than he/she doesn't need an "effect demonstration" to make a good movie.In a Sci.-Fic. Movie,"creativity" is like a soup,and if the "soup" is delicious enough,than the cook isn't in need of putting any spice materials in it.
....................In fact,a good movie resembles a lasting song.If a song is permanent enough to be accepted by the audience,it is listened over and over and becomes more precious along the years.As a sample;the music band "Def Leppard" has an album named "Retro Active".Whenever I listen the album's second track (Fractured Love),I want to listen to it more and more,I've listened the song at least a thousand times until now...It might be listened along the years,because it is permanent (as well as the band itself).The group also made a brilliant thing in the album and put a "cheating-skull picture" on the cover.When you look at the album's frontside;you see a skull,but in fact,it doesn't appear as it seems.When you take a closer look;you'll realize that it's not a skull...A very "creative idea";and that's one of the many reasons why Def Leppard is a great group...
....................Comparing with the example of the Pyramids,the next sample might sound unrelated,but I'm gonna combine the two examples in a common denominator...I'll give the next model upon a movie which you know as well;and that movie is Rocky 3...In the third movie of the "Rocky" series,Rocky Balboa (Stallone) comes face to face with a passionate opponent named Clubber Lang (Mr. T).As it's understood from his name,he's a very tough fellow,knows no bound to stop him in the game of boxing and brutally knocks his rivals down.As far as I know;boxing is a game that includes 15 rounds.Each round consists of 3 minutes,45 minutes in total.Every round starts with the ring of a bell.Two players try to beat each other throught the match.Before the beginning of the 1st round,a referee mentions players 'bout some important rules they have to follow.Along the match;if one of the players falls down within a round,the referee begins to count 'till 10.If the boxer can not stand up within that timeline,the other one automatically wins the match,and that is called "knock out".Or otherwise,if both boxers are still standing on their feet at the end of the match,the beating points are taken.The one who has more beating points takes the match...
....................When Clubber challenges Rocky,he has a great passion within him.On the other hand,the passion within Rocky grows weaker step by step after he wins his last match he made with Apollo (Weathers) at the end of the 2nd film.In fact;it doesn't matter who wins or looses the match.But it matters who has come to the "state of mind" to take the match in a serious way.'Cause the one who comes to that "state of mind" has the upper hand,and Apollo knows that.And that's why Clubber wins his first fight he makes with Rocky.He wins the match within 6 minutes (2 Rounds) by knock out,Rocky looses the match because of the lack of lust within him.The luxury conditions he has been in causes him to loose his passion.That's why Apollo brings him out from his life of luxury and begins to train Rocky in an unluxury training place where also was his (Apollo's) starting point in his early times.To make Rocky reach an earnest state of mind;Apollo purifies him from his life of striking appearance and makes him start from zero.And at the end of the movie (well,it's not my style to mention 'bout the end of a movie,but in this case I must),Rocky gains his passion again (which was within him along the first and the second movie),and in his second fight with Lang,he wins the match within 3 rounds by knock out...(Well,I think a time for a last match has come in between them.They both won a match,and that makes all bets set to equal;so the winner of the last match will determine who really is the champion,huh?...
)
....................Now,it might sound odd;but assume the Live-Action Series of Star Wars as "Rocky Balboa",and the Re-Imagined Battlestar Galactica as "Clubber Lang".And also suppose the technology- endorsed/over-dosed/mixed action scenes as Rocky's luxury conditions.Altough BSG had ended,it shall have a chance to competite with the LAS.Remember the model that I gave 3 months ago in the prior topic?...The Arena of Kings?...I didn't give it for no reason,it wasn't a hollow sample;because the winner of that "arena" also will be the most permenant production among the others,it'll grasp the highest prize of all.And when the prize becomes higher,there exists no boundaries of time.That's why I see no objection in comparing productions from different time periods.In BSG,the makers of the show adjusted the dose of the technology-required action scenes so well (especially the viper-fight scenes those mostly appear in the 1st and the 2nd season),and they never turned them out to be described as "technological demonstration"...
....................So,does that make a Sci.-Fic. Production to become prominent among the other productions?...Ok,I'm changing the question.What if George Lucas had a time machine,made a time travel prior to the release of "Star Wars:A New Hope",and gave his youngerself today's technological opportunities?...What would the younger Lucas do?...Of course he would appraise those opportunies,but perhaps he would use them "only" to make the things which were impossible by the technological conditions then,never to change them into mixed/complicated scenes.There were some technology-required scenes in a "A New Hope" which were barely persuading the audience that they were believable.Could you imagine those scenes made with today's opportunities instead?...I'm sure that the movie would appear better...
....................Like it was in the previous topic,I shall mention a possibly-vanished scene from "Return of the Jedi"...In the movie,when Luke,Han and Chewy are taken to the ground creature Sarlacc to be executed,we see Luke and Han's hands handcuffed.After they approach to Sarlacc,C3-PO tells them to beg for mercy to Jabba,and we see Luke and Han's hands released free of handcuffes.In-that-scene,do the execution squad take off the handcuffes to make them plead with their hands?Might that be a vanished scene?...Because,through the end of the movie,when Luke is brought before the Emperor by Vader,we-also-see-Luke's hands handcuffed,and the Emperor tells to Luke "Welcome,young Skywalker.I've been expecting you.You no longer need those (the handcuffes)".And he makes them unfastened by manipulating the force to show the capabilities of the dark side;as if he means "it is I whom you must plead,not Jabba.Jabba doesn't underrestimate the force;he knows how powerfull the force is,but it is I who manipulate it."...
....................In the previous topic,I had mentioned 'bout the new Star Trek Movie.Then,with holding my breath,I was waiting for the movie to appear in the theaters.When I watched it at the cinema,I liked it a lot,the movie gave the characters (those we know from the original series) a new sight;every character (especially Kirk) was different in general.And when I compare the movie's action scenes with the other productions of that time period,they appear more unmixed to me as well as the ones I see in the Re-Im. BSG;even the most effect needed scenes were uncomplicated in the movie (for instant;at the 4th Episode of the 3rd season of BSG (Exodus),the dose of the action scenes were adjusted in the excellent way).At a scene when Kirk and his companion make a fight with the villains high over the ground;the scenes were more realistic and more understandable.
....................Through the end of the movie;the commander whom Kirk takes over the ship's command from is transported from Nero's (Bana) ship to Enterprise.When he appears aboard;we see the crew running towards him,and-in-that-scene,they appear to the audience as if they want to say "don't worry,he's gonna survive in every case"...Same mold of that scene was used at the movie "The Last Action Hero".Through the end of the movie,when Jack Slater (Schwarzennegger) steps into the cinema screen wounded,we-see-his-friends run towards him;and they give such a sight as if they want to say "everything will be ok in that perfect world"...And I also have noticed same kind of scene at the third movie of "Pirates of the Caribbean".When the film starts,Jack Sparrow's (Depp) friends come to the island where Sparrow is trapped.At-the-scene-when Sparrow sees his friends approaching him;they appear as if they want to bid the audience "there's nothing to worry in that cartoon-like athmosphere" (the "parrot" among his friends make a great effect at that scene)...There's no need to make those kind of scenes at a Star Trek Movie,'cause the audience knows that the commander's gonna survive,even if he dies,that doesn't ruin the movie's atmosphere;it is not a "must" to keep him alive.Altough it (in my opinion) was not a necessary scene,it didn't decrease the movie's standarts,'cause the film was perfect in general;it gave a different appearance and a new breath to the ST Universe.
....................And also to make the new and the old Spock come face to face was a brilliant idea.It was kinda flag-concession between Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.The movie's standarts were equal to the first,second and the third Star Trek Movie.I hope to see the new adventures of the new crew,and I think there will be....................

I've gone crosseyed!
You have some interesting comparisons, but it seems like you're asking several questions, not all of which really apply to the LAS, and the ones that do can probably be approached in one of the existing LAS threads (preferably in a more condensed manner- having 4+ paragraphs of introduction to your question can lose people's attention quickly).
