In my opinion GL has his hands free to do what he want with the Star Wars saga and I believe he does to...

But enough said about whose pro-EU and whose not, let's talk about the LAS, shall we!

I found this piece of text on Wookiepedia (or at least I think it's the right one):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galactic_Empire_(Star_Wars)

Resistance to Imperial rule
In Revenge of the Sith, four of the most influential senators — Bail Organa of Alderaan, Padmé Amidala of Naboo, Garm Bel Iblis of Corellia, and Mon Mothma of Chandrila — meet in secret to sign the Corellian Treaty, forming the Alliance to Restore the Republic, more commonly referred to as the Rebel Alliance. During the nineteen years that take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the Rebellion's early groups are all but crushed by the Empire, and its leaders are constantly forced into hiding or killed.

Of course Amidala is dead, but the others would be very interesting characters to build the LAS upon...

Which, brings me back to my most "controversial" idea, the inclusion of material from the PT into the series. I know this is hard to swallow, but please hear me out. worried

Wouldn't it be nice to have that scene included in the Star Wars Universe, not all watch the Wookiepedia, deleted scenes or stuff like that. I'm talking about people who enjoy seeing SW, but aren't bigger than life fans like most of you are.

Wouldn't it make sence to them? plain

It would not only make sense, but I believe that we will see at least a cameo appearance by Bail Organa, hopefully actually played by Jimmy Smits. Also, I would love to see Garm Bel Iblis in the show, since he's very important in the EU and has never appeared in a live-action setting. But, I don't want them to simply "adapt" or "re-create" some of the things that were already fleshed out in the Force Unleashed. And I don't want Leia to make an appearance, 'cause they'd need another actress and it'd be weird.

But I must certainly object to one thing. There is an actual EU. Anything that has the Lucasfilm, LucasBooks, LucasArts, etc. logo on it, is OFFICIAL canon. And although Lucas might not know what all of it is, he still is at least indirectly approving of it by not only having his name on all of these companies but also making MONEY from anyone who buys the material. That's why there is an official canon, which I hope that the LAS improves upon and expands greatly, since the Dark Times is certainly the most un-explored time period that's close to one of the movies. Pre-PT, between movies in the PT, between movies in the OT, and Post-OT have all been fleshed out somewhat nicely (although the Clone Wars is murky at this point), but the time between the two trilogies has a lot of potential.

Well, if GL approved or even released material, I'm sure he'll pay attention to it...

But as you said the era between PT and OT holds a lot of potential for great story telling, and if LUCASFILM would use Garm Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma as the main heroes, I would be very happy. dancing

I also don't think that a grown up version of Leia should be in it (only if they had Carrie Fisher cloned, of course laugh ). But if she makes small cameo appearances as either a baby or a small girl/young teenager, that would be OK.

I'd just like to point out that this is from Wikipedia, which as far as Star Wars material goes, is much less reliable than Wookieepedia. That Ep3 deleted scene wasn't the signing of the Corellian Treaty, which would only occur 2 years before Yavin, it was just a meeting of senators opposed to Palpatine's rising power. And you can't even really say that took place in Ep3, cause the scene was deleted and thus not in the film.

But back to your point. I don't think anyone objects to the use of prequel elements in the LAS, we just don't want the prequel itself in the show. The founders of the Rebellion would make a nice addition to the cast, though I doubt they would be the central characters. I just don't wan to see the Rebel Alliance in operation, cause that would break the chronology. I would prefer to see something like a "Corellian Resistance" pop up and be chased away. An "Alderaanian Peace Brigade" try to reason with the Empire and be put in its place, and other stuff like that. And kid Leia making a cameo is fine in my book.

That was already shown in The Force Unleashed, which is two years before ANH; as Gry said, it was never filmed for ROTS.

You can read more about it on Wookieepedia and watch it (about halfway through) on YouTube.

The homeworlds of these four Senators (Alderaan, Naboo, Corellia and Chandrila) would be excellent candidates for voicing objections against this New Order, and as such they would be targeted by the Empire and put into their place.

As you say an all out Imperial assault on Corellia and Chandilla, like we saw in TESB, would be awsome. Maybee Alderaan moved their Security Forces into hiding on Dantooine, or some other distant location to make sure they weren't totally destroyed by the Empire. The Rebels in ANH, isn't a rag-tag force like in ROTJ, all the pilots, groundgrew and soldiers wear uniforms that look like the Alderaan Security Forces aboard Tantive IV. Naboo also had Security Forces, and Alderaan was much larger and more powerful than the small world of Naboo.

Yes, the very seeds of the Rebel Alliance, should be portrayed, just like it was in the classic Flash Gordon show. There was no Rebel Movement on Mongo, prior to the Earthlings arrival. All the different nations on Mongo, were ruled by their own leaders. But they were all a part of Emperor Ming's evil Empire, which was an immense military machine. Flash Gordon slowly united the various and numerous Kingdoms and Principalities of Mongo into a real opposition to the evil Empire, so that he could save Earth...

This was all good fun to watch and very entertaining, when I was a kid, although it dates back to 1936. hypnotized

I hope we get to see some of the Imperial Senate, since it was dissolved before we got to see it in ANH; we've never actually seen it during Imperial times. Also, I would love to get some scenes, or even an episode or two, set in Corellia, because it's a very important planet in the overall story of Star Wars and it doesn't get much face time.

Guys, as much as I appreciate the well-thought-out, considerate argument going on here, for most of the last few pages, it's become a standard EU/Canon argument.

I'm going to lock this, and any actual discussion *about the LAS* can be done in the official thread. Thanks, G_M.
