I see the clone wars series as a good opportunity to explore the fates of certain well known "minor" jedi. Also, it could give Lucas and his team the chance to show these Jedi in action throughout the series and kill them off (if they choose) at some points - these could be classified as CIS victories or heavy losses for the Jedi.

Candidates include:-

Adi Gallia (according to EU goes down to Grievous)
Pablo-Jill (according to EU goes down to Grievous when trying to recapture Palpatine)
Even Piell
Depa Billapa (according to EU is in a permanent coma, but Lucas could make it canon that she simply resigned but is still active)
Bultar Swan
Oppo Rancisis (according to EU dies during clone wars)
Yaddle (already dead before clone wars???)
Roth Delmasona (according to EU is killed by Grievous while trying to protect Palpatine)
probably several other Jedi that I've missed that could be included.

What are your thoughts? Any of these could open up for great opportunities to put their fates to rest - whether some go down in Battle or perhaps a duel with Grievous, Ventress or even Dooku.

I personally hope we get a good mixture of Jedi like Shaak Ti, Adi, Oppo and some brand new Jedi.

Indeeed. It was good to see Ki-Adi Mundi in the trailer - it gives a real good opportunity also perhaps to see the homeworld of Cerea and their culture - likewise would be interesting to see shili, the homeworld for Ahsoka and Shaak Ti.

Yaddle is immediately out in my opinion. She looks too much like Yoda and her death could seriously upset and confuse a lot of kids. And my grandmother. laugh

However I wouldn't mind seeing some other established jedi meeting a nasty fate in the show. It would certanily be a very clever way to add a bit more depth for the older fan base.

The problem about going down in a duel for most of the above is that we know their fates. Jedi that could go down are jedi that we haven't heard about before. Even Piell and Bultar Swan both survive Order 66, but are killed later in the lower levels of Coruscant and Kessel. As you say Depa is in coma, but I don't think she would prove interesting as a character and difficult as well because she had crossed to the dark side. Yaddle is indeed already dead, even before AotC. Adi Gallia and Oppo Rancisis are two Jedi that I agree with you that could be explored, and although we have seen their death, putting the Battle of Saleucami and Boz Pity (also, ventress leaves the CW here) in the series. But the other Jedi, I think the chance we'll see them is really small. I think George (and Dave) will want to focus on council members like Shaak Ti, Saessee Tiin, Agen Kolar and Stass Allie (Gallia's replacer on the council).

Although tricky when faced with EU specific fates, I wholeheartedly agree with this. It's a good way to expand on these characters and give their fates meaning. For example, I wished that Adi Gallia's death was somewhat more meaningful, though I daresay it got Grievous fans happy. tongue

Having Oppo Rancicis and Adi Gallia get more development or perhaps even a better death would most assuredly be sweet. grin

Master Oppo Rancississ would prove to be very interesting as he is the most non humaniod master on the council(He is a big hairy snake)and neither george or Genndy had him move at all because they probably couldn't a good way to show it.

An intruiging idea but there are two problems with this.

1) The animation engine used on TCW does not do hair or fluff very well. Considering that Oppo Rancississ is one giant furball I think he would look terrible or out of place.

2) Even if some compromise was reached about his looks I think his movements would look pretty awkward.

Apparently with clone wars season 2 the team have made some big strides in the quality of the technical aspect of the show, although I do agree, Oppo Rancisis, if included, would be very challenging to animate, especially with all the hair, and has been mentioned above, he is kind of like a snake. Could be difficult to pull of convincingly. If it COULD be done, that would be indeed something to see.

Yeah, the big danger with Rancisis is that he'd come out looking like a giant ice-cream sundae, but I don't think he'd be too difficult to animate in terms of movement. Things like the giant plants in the second episode of the Blue Virus duology moved in similar ways to a snake in some places. I would think we a bit more research and trial-and-error it'd be very 'do-able' by the production team.

In fact, it would probably be easier - yet more visually striking - to create his tail moving him about like a real snake. When you see closeup footage of a snake moving through grass or water it's actually pretty striking how can move forward so quickly and fluidly whilst constantly curving its body across the ground. In CGI, this'd probably look very 'awkward' at first, but would lend Rancisis his own unique physical trait on par with Fisto's crazy-ass tentacles flying around everywhere or Grievous' spider-like movements, etc.
