Has anyone listened to the commentary track yet. It is somewhat shocking.

The picture quality is amazing on this Blu-ray set. I also love the aspect ratio, every episode is presented like a feature film. This is a beautiful release, I can't wait for season 2!

Well, the format that they show the Clone Wars in now (cropped) conforms with all the other Cartoon Network shows, plus I'm not sure if kids would enjoy the black bars. I love widescreen, but kids usually don't.

I've found that some parents have an issue with Widescreen.

Last year or so, a DVD came out for a fairly obscure animated kids movie and it came in two versions: widescreen and fullscreen. When I had an angry parent come back and try to return the DVD because she hated the 'stupid black bars', I had to restrain myself from rolling my eyes too hard. Her kid, on the other hand, didn't care.

And fwiw, she never did get the refund because we don't allow opened DVDs to be returned. tongue

But I digress.

Still haven't gotten this yet, but I may get it as a Christmas present for my dad if he doesn't get it before then.

All of the Director's Cut changes I've notice are tiny little second long additional scenes. In Rookies, there's an added scene where Hevy(?) takes his helmet off and mocks a Commando Droid and the scene when the commandos first take the outpost is extended, at least I think. I don't remember the droids coming in and talking before contacting Grievous.

I noticed the change in the commercial cuts too. The first episode I watched was Rookies and I completely didn't notice commercial cuts until I finished it and realized I forgot about them. They did a good job with that.

The Director's Cuts are subtle and confusing, and I hope for a FAQ on the changes online some time soon.

What shocks me is that the Blu-Ray cut of Downfall of a Droid cuts a line of Anakin turning away from Ahsoka while smirking and saying "get going, Snips." I loved that moment. Why was it cut? If that was cut, what else was?

I was happy that they didn't cut the "What the hell was that" line from Rookies.

The iTunes versions of the new episodes also don't have fadeouts and fadeins for the commercial breaks. I don't know when that started, but it sure does make the shows that much more enjoyable.

They really aren't confusing at all.

But I was just coming to post about the "Duel of the Droids" episode too, with cutting those lines. I'm personally was happy.

"Get going Snips."

"Well its up to us to finish the mission..like usual."

..really? Thank god it was cut because that was awful.

Hey guys....new to the forums. I had a question and I'm hoping someone here can help me. I have the new Clone Wars Blu-Ray season one set and it is awesome.....but I think my disk one might have a defect on it. In the episode "Destroy Malevolence" close to the end of the episode Obi Wan is running to catch the elevator with Padmé and Anakin on it while fighting off a few last droids, he yells wait for me or something like that.....anyway, my screen or aspect ratio jumps from the wide screen with the black bar top and bottom to full wide screen (like on Cartoon Network). Just for the few seconds he's running...when they show the others in the elevator it goes back to the normal wide screen. My question is am I alone in this or do all of your Blu-ray or even standard DVD sets also do this?????

Any help or info would really be appreciated......thanks.

Why cut anything? We're supposed to be seeing the episodes in their entirety.

Director's cut doesn't mean extended cut. It means the director's preference in a cut. Certain lines appeared that way on TV because we were going to have to wait 5 minutes to the see the next scene and they were used as guides to keep the audience's attention. So it makes sense to cut some lines here and there as they are redundant in this context.

Your logic is sound, but we've seen no evidence that specific dialogue would be deleted. Filoni doesn't strike me as being as anal retentive as Lucas about editing content.

"Get going Snips" (with a smirk) was a good acknowledgment by Anakin that Ahsoka was calling him on his character flaw (attachment to R2). It was good storytelling.

I didn't notice that particular aspect ratio change, but I did notice one in "Cloak of Darkness," with a zoom-in on Ventress cackling near the end of the duel with Ahsoka and Luminara.

WTH?
LAJ edit: You can't use that acronym here. i changed it to WTH.

"Duel of the Droids" isn't a Director's Cut on the set.

I didn't catch this when I first watched it but my Blu-Ray does this as well.

Maybe they should make replacements for disc 2. Put that scene from "Duel of the Droids" back in (AHSOKA: Looks like it's up to us to complete the mission, as usual) and fix the aspect ratio problem with "Cloak of Darkness".
