I believe all the critical details are settled now, so I'll post this info as if it's final. I decided to create a new thread since the prior one had a fair bit of noise in it.
Docking Bay 516 will be making a club trip to Six Flags Great Adventure on Tuesday, June 6, with the following two Tuesdays (June 13 and 20) as rain dates.
Confirmed attendees: Dan, Dana, Moriah, Rob, Tim, Triss, and me.
Definitely not attending: Billy, Chris, Clive, Kenny.
Who else?
I have discovered a source of "two for the price of one" coupons, so we no longer need to be concerned with trying to get the group rate. With that said, we would still love to have more people along. Since the date(s) are settled now, I think we should invite the area clubs (MEPA, NJO, Philly, anyone else?).
I will probably push for another trip to Great Adventure later in the summer, but let's not worry about that right now.

I just wanted to know something--do we need to worry about buying tickets ahead of time or are we just getting them right there that day as we walk into the park?

Speaking of driving, there's a little something I need resolved:
Great Adventure is in Jersey. So am I. All the rest of you are in LI. It would be insane for me to get on a bus, get into Manhattan, jump on a train, and go all the way to LI just to hitch a ride with one of you. It would make more sense for somebody to take a detour on the way to pick me up. BUT...said person needs to be traveling the north route to SFGA. On this route stopping at my town isn't going out of the way. Abhay isn't driving north; he's picking Triss up in Queens and is going south.
Another factor is time. Surely not everyone wants to get up at the arsecrack of dawn. Abhay will be leaving early so he gets to the park early, because he's hardcore for coasters.  Some of us may want to get up later and show up at the park later. But I want to be at the park early too. I haven't been to this place in a year, I want to have plenty of time to enjoy it.
So. I need somebody who's willing to get up really early (depending on where you are in LI, that means anywhere between 6-8am) and drive the north route to pick me up.
Any takers?

I'm not in on this trip but just an idea: I bet there are buses from your area that go directly to Great Adventure. You might want to do that and not worry about waiting for someone to come get you. Just a thought. --Billy

But that would require spending money.
That may not be necessarily true, though--not every Jersey bus in existence goes through my town, and a lot of them are very inconvenient to get to, or even require me to get into Manhattan just to grab them. I can look it up, but I don't know...

Two problems have arisen that may complicate matters.
1. My flexible work schedule has flexed itself such that I will need to be in DC on June 6th. If the group decides to go to Six Flags on June 6th (weather permitting), I will not be able to attend, and more importantly, I will not be able to drive anyone to and from the park.
2. Great Adventure is going to close early on June 13th. As of now, the park schedule says it will be open from 10 AM to 3 PM. This was not the case two weeks ago when I looked. Of course, the website does say "Prices and operating schedule subject to change without notice."
I leave it you to figure out what to do.

Okay. Let me put forth a hypothetical scenario. Judging from our head count, obviously Dan and Tim would be in one car. It would make sense for them to pick Dana up because she lives relatively close to them. I have no idea who would pick Rob up considering that he's way out on the far end of LI--unless Rob's taking a train to a closer city, I don't know. That leaves me and Triss. If, hypothetically, Dan and Tim were picking up Rob and Dana, Triss and I would be left high and dry. The only solution would be for both of us to travel into Manhattan and take a bus to the park out of the Port Authority. No, there are no buses going to Six Flags that pass through my town.
Option #2, in case nobody likes Option #1, is to just wait till June 20. If we wait till then and this sort of thing happens again, I'd say we should go forward no matter what, 'cause at that rate we'll never go.
So...show of hands. Forge ahead or wait?

Ok, let me adjust the list again...(and sorry if I keep using you as an example, Dan, but you DO have a car. )

Dana + GS Rob = car #1. Dan + Tim = car #2. That takes care of 4 people. Left over are me, Triss, and TK Rob. We're spread out all over the place. Whoever picks up Triss will have to take the northern route to Six Flags and definitely can't pick me up in Jersey. Like I said, it's rather a pain in the arse for me to be the only one taking the bus. That would mean I have to leave the park earlier than the rest of you to make sure I get on the last bus back.

I know that--but I'm saying, if you're very far away from everyone else in LI I think you'd have to come to another city to be picked up--otherwise whoever gives you a ride would have to swing out way east then double back west AND repeat it for the return trip. I can't remember, are you in Ronkonkoma?
Well, it turns out we don't really need to vote--Dan emailed me that the weather forecast is predicting rain for the entire region on Tuesday. So looks like we have to wait till the 20th after all.

yes, I live in Ronkonkoma. But I could met someone in Syosset (I will feel safe leave my car at work). Yes ,
on Tuesday it looks like it rain. Well they say isolated thunder showers on 3 different reports I saw.
I was wondering If we push it back to next tue. on 13?(since Clive's fan films is the next day on the 14th?)
