	Hi everyone- I'm back at it, doing more library programs--this time, it's mainly "Kaboom: The History of Special Effects," which I first did a few months ago in Pt. Washington. As Rob pointed out last month, I'm doing it at Bellmore Library this Wednesday, but it turns out I'm also going to present it at a few other libraries around the Island over the coming weeks (although they tend to be a lot further out). Kaboom covers the history of special effects (I can hear you saying "Well, DUH, Clive"), from the 1800s to today, with clips from favorite and forgotten flicks. Plus there's cheap jokes about Shatner's toupee, so that's a great night out, right? Of course, there's good Star Wars content--since we've all seen it a billion times, I will be showing clips from ANH in a split-screen format, so you can compare the 1977 and 2004 versions of it simultaneously to see how the effects have been spruced up (or degraded, depending on your point of view) over the years. For those of you who came to see it last time (and weren't stuck in the parking lot), it's in the process of being trimmed down. I finished remaking the first DVD yesterday, and cut it back from 53 minutes to 39, trimming back 2001, War of the Worlds, King Kong, Deluge and a few others, and excising Blade Runner altogether. I'm going to attack the second DVD tonight and pare that back, too. So all in all, it'll be a leaner, shorter show. 	Thanks to all you guys for coming out the other night--hope you had fun. Sorry I couldn't hang afterward; I'd felt lousy all day and while I was still a bit adrenelized (?) when I split, I was asleep less than an hour later. Oh well...
