In today's Newsday It said The Sci Fi Channel is not ordering anymore shows of the orginial "Stargate SG-1".After 10 years. First the don't renew Tripping The Rift and now this. Now the can air more bad Westling. Plus make every bad movie the shouldn't be on TV. This channel rots!!!

Yeah I saw this the other day on scifi.com and gateworld.net and needless to say I'm shocked.

Why cancell a show that will break a Guinness world record for "Longest Consecutively Running Sci-Fi Show"(It'll have 215 episodes at the end of the season beating X-File's 202) if the ratings are still strong?

Sure SG-1 isn't as well written as the new Battlestar, but It still has great characters and is in the middle of a whole new storyline.

It's even attracting lots of talented actors like Beau Bridges(General Landry), Robert Picardo(Agent Woolsey), Ben Browder(Colonel Mitchell), Claudia Black(Vala Mal Doran), Louis Gossett Jr.(Gerak), Lexa Doig(Dr. Lam) and Morena Baccarin (Adria).

Even United States Air Force Chief of Staff John Jumper has guest starred on the show.

A show that attracts people like that and is about to break a Guinness World Record is obviously doing very well and shouldn't be cancelled.

Plus Sci-Fi really doesn't have any shows that are strong enough to fill it's spot in the line up. What's gonna fill that spot? Stargate Atlantis? That's a laugh. While Atlantis can be considered a successful spin-off it hasn't yet reached the point where it is strong enough to stand on it's own with out SG-1 there to provide a built in fan-base.

Plus this does potentially lead to more Wresteling or even more B & C movies such as Mansquito and SS Doomtrooper.

As far as SCI FI Channel is concerned the hand is writing on on the wall and I can only hope that they realize that they are making a huge mistake.

I'm just waiting for them to air the highly anticipated

BOA VS PYTHON ...

a movie in which a 70 footer battles it out with an 80 footer ...

for all of 1 minute screentime ...

Maybe they could put Tremors on ... AGAIN.

As a side note, I just can't sleep at night without my daily dose of wrestling ... ahem SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT ... or lack thereof ...

As Officer Hightower once said ...

Yumma-yumma-yumma-YUMMMMA!

and goodnight.

I have no problem with badly scripted and poorly acted fighting --I mean wrestling-- I just have a problem with it being on SCI FI when it should be on Spike or UPN instead.

And as I've said before, what else does SCI FI have that is strong enough to fill SG-1's spot in the friday night line up?

What SCI FI really needs is more really good mini-series like Taken and Dune.
