Oo, oo! I second the offer, for those a little more north and a lot more east than Marshall! ...no excessive drinking (I think it would scare my parents, who don't drink), but a couple/few is fine, haha.

We'll have plenty of hot drinks available too for anyone just arriving ('cause, um, today was like 7 degrees, you'll need it). And chili, pizza rolls, all sorts of good (bad-for-you) football-y food.

Still waiting for my tickets. It's really coming down to the wire. I'll pack a pair of scissors so I can cut off the tags. laugh

Hi guys,

Sorry I have been pretty quiet lately. A couple things happened which have been taking up a lot of time.

Two weeks ago, my car had a coolant leak. This leak caused a significant amount of damage to my car, wiping out a few cylinders, gaskets, engine block and eventually shot oil into my cooling systems. After three opinions, I was told not to fix it, and to scrap the car. (the repair would have been $3,000) The Kelley Bluebook is barely that. The thing that kills me, is we drove the car home, only about four-five miles, and all the damage happened.

So, after 12 years, 120,000 miles, R.I.P. Klaus. (may of you have ridden in him)

Then, the Mercedes dealer told me a wire harness was on it's last leg, and would need to be replaced, another $1,500-1,800. So no way in heck would I be putting that kind of money into it. Anyway, have been busy researching, driving, test driving, and researching even more. Trying to determine if a mid-size SUV is worth the poor mileage...etc. We could use it, but not always. Thanks DH for your two cents, appreciate it. Thus far, I like the Infinity G35, and Audi A4. I also like the Highlander and Pilot.

This is such a stressful pain, and headache.

Encloses is your airplane ticket for Super Bowl Sunday. Fly safe. Thanks guys for pretending with me. I would really love to see you all, and watch the game. Yes, I am having a few people over, but it has been lonely. The SW guys are cool, but not as active. (the 501st) The FF is really lame in events.

Yes JR, there are TONS and TONS of great steak houses here. Besides Morton's and Ruth's, see this article I scanned from Alaska Air magazine. They have two in Seattle, one in Portland.

Tonight the 502st is doing a Book signing with Timothy Zahn. That should be fun. I plan on attending.

Enclosed are your tickets for everyone, and article for JR/ SR and JB.

And, my last hurrah, saying bye bye to Benz.

Miss you guys a lot,

Marshall

I have a PDF file saved. How can I post it to Photobucket, LAFanforce.net...etc. Is it possible?

Is it me or did D-B completely Haskett his own thread?

[haskett]D-B, the Pilot is much bigger than the Highlander but the fuel economy is atrocious! I don't recommend seating people in the Highlander third row seat unless they are Kenny Baker sized. The Pilot's third row is slightly roomier so you can go up to say, JR sized. If you get the G35 you will be copying JR and I don't think it really works with your image. It's too much an "SJ" car. You would totally look out of place. Plus you have to use premium gasoline which is very expensive. I have a friend with an A4 and she says it's worth upgrading to the A6 because it has more power but then your fuel economy goes out the door. She practically likened it to a German Corolla. I considered the Volvo S40 and it's a good car but for you I would go up at least one level, I forgot which one that was, I think the S60. Bloom County ruined Volvos for me forever. I figured with the distance I drive and the fuel economy I assumed for the Highlander that it would take me about 7 years to recoup the cost. With the current price of gasoline, I think it'll take me less time.[/haskett]

May I say that I feel gypped that the invitation was not 100% hosted as originally posted? I was going to use the scissors so I wouldn't rip the leather. Oh well, I'll bring it next time. ES, I'd definitely take a picture just for you.

Go Colts!

The tags were cut the night before Thanksgiving. Sadly, the Mrs. insisted. One year is obnoxious enough. Plus, Nick was there, so he saw the tags arrive, and saw them die. grin grin

Timothy Zahn was wonderful and very nice guy. We went to Red Robin last night after the signing. I was lucky to sit across from him.

Did not have the heart to even think that "Survivors Quest" was the worst SW book I ever read in my life. Oh well. I just smiled.
Heir to the Empire..etc were great though. It was fun to speak with the author about his motivations...etc.

And if anyone does not get it (Daisy!!!!...) he is the man who single handedly created Mara Jade. It was all his character.

Thanks so much DH for car wisdom. I do appreciate it.

I thought JR has a two door Infiniti? His is a sedan too? It was a cool car. Audit A6, if I can afford it, maybe that could be cool!!

D-B

Edit: I do want the Colts as well, but not a fan of either Mannings.

I do have the 2-door G35. The sedan is more practical. I can see you driving one DB. It's a good car. I like my car a lot! Very fun to drive, gas mileage is so-so though. I get 20 mpg if I drive conservatively. Then again, most of my driving is city stop-and-go traffic.

It's sad to see your Mercedes go though. I get attached to cars and get sad when I have to get rid of them. The hardest one for me to part with was my Miata. But that car was messed up, it was in three accidents, it was just bad luck.

I got a video from JT with you and Timothy Zahn. It looked like you were having fun.

D-B, you did not mention that you were looking at a sedan. I still can't really see D-B in JR's car, even a sedan.

Did anyone record the tag cutting for posterity? Was there a funeral or ceremony for their disposal? I feel sad that I was not able to participate or send my condolences for their long over due demise.

The new G35 sedan looks pretty sharp and has a stronger engine. A used one would be a good buy also, if it's in good condition.

Yea, we had fun. Zahn was a good guy, very down to earth.

What about Audi A4 JR? I can not afford A6. So hard a tough choice...... fast/ luxury Sedan or SUV?

I have ruled out BMW X-3, ruled out both Jaguars, and any Lexus. Infiniti FX I drive tomorrow.

No Lexi? Why? I heard they were really good cars. I'm now in a pool. I have (Bears:Colts) 4:2 and 6:0. Mr. DH has 4:5. Overall not very good numbers.
