Holy cow you people take standing in line for a cartoon seriously.

IZ VERY SRS BIZNUZ.

A cartoon? I never get this attitude. First it's not a cartoon, it's an animated film, and it's not even traditionally animated, it's CG-animated. Not a cartoon under any definition of the word. Second, the way you put it, one would be led to believe that somehow animation is a lesser artform than live-action, like what these 200 artists did on this film is really not that worthy of an accomplishment because it's "just a cartoon" or "just animation," yeah it's really easy to animate, boy, ask those guys, I'm sure they never worked more than 2 hours in a day, not like they had long days and had to practice and study for years to become so good at their crafts. Boy, silly them for doing a "cartoon."

Next, it's a STAR WARS MOVIE, if this is a Star Wars forum you should be excited about a new Star Wars movie coming to theaters, considering in 31 years there have only been 6 of them so far, so I'd say it's a pretty big deal. If you can't be excited about a new Star Wars movie, you clearly aren't a fan. I don't know how you'd be excited by anything else, then, I guess just a video game or just a new novel or just some new toys definitely couldn't excite you. When it's STAR WARS, it is never JUST a movie. It's a life event, a major popular culture event of historical significance.

I really am tired of that attitude from the edges of the fan base. It's just not cool, not with how much work goes into a film like this. Hasn't Pixar already demonstrated through their amazing work that animation is every bit the equal of live-action film? I think you need to understand they are just different artistic mediums, one isn't inherently better than the other.

So is this new Star Wars cartoon a kids movie, or can adults enjoy it too?

I think chibiangi was saying this 'tongue in cheek.'

I'm not crazy about midnight showings either. For me it's, 'what's the use of staying up that late to see a movie/film/animation/cartoon I'm really jonesing for just to fall asleep half way through it?' I'll wait until the weekend and stay awake for the whole thing.

Well it's tradition to see a Star Wars film at midnight, first of all, it's awesome, it's a better communal atmosphere. Second, I would want to see any new Star Wars movie absolutely as soon as possible. Third, it's midnight, what's the big deal? That is not late, I don't get tired at that time anyway.

I'm sorry for interrupting this SRS conversation, but for those that were at the Egyptian, I noticed on the promotional banner (and also the same image that was projected on the screen when thanking the sponsors) that Junk Food was listed. And yet, I did not see any representation by Junk Food. So did I miss that? And if so, how and where were there?

Junk food is my friends clothing label. They had shirts randomly inserted inside the bookbags that were given out.

Like I said, I get the sense of commaraderie & special eventness. If I could stay up that late for it, I'd probably join LUN or whatever group of people I know are going to the midnight show. But, a midnight show gets out at 3:00 AM. For those of us who get up at 6:00 AM to go to work it is a big deal to stay up that late, even if we take the next day off. So, like I said, I'd probably fall asleep in the middle of the movie. So I don't do it. On the other hand, I'm much too excited about this to wait for it to come out on DVD. No, this weekend for sure!

lol, I'd just have had that day and the day before it planned as vacation time from early this year but that's just me. Nothing comes between me and Star Wars. That is life priority #1. It's like Opening Day for the Yankees, I don't care what else I'm doing I will have that day blocked out and I will be watching Opening Day. I think when work becomes more important than life itself, well, you're kinda missing the point of life, and that coming from a guy who is extremely motivated to succeed, haha.

Bowen here here well said, for me also my SW comes first otherwise why bother being a fan. Well I was supposed to currently be in line right now, but as Life Goes found out last night before leaving for the Bruin that they cancelled their 12:01. But that isn't going to stop us we are going with our plan B options(Bridge,Amc Burbank) and will start lining up tommorrow morning.

The Bridge is nice, really nice. I used to go there when I first moved to L.A. 7 years ago. At the time it was the nation's most expensive theater, hehe. The AMC Burbank is also nice... Sounds really fun! Have a blast dude.

I have confirmed that none of the Mann theaters will have a midnight screening of
"Clone Wars".

AMC Burbank 16 will have a midnight screening
