@ Cungr,

Didn't really have a lot in mind, I just kinda wrote it. Anyway, It seems to be we have a lot of the same interests-- well, besides Star Wars just the same Star Wars Stuff, like the EU.

Maybe a once every few months a book club at a book store would be nice. We could do Order 66, or just the whole RC book in general (or wait till we all finsih them).

We could go back to the Thrawn books, or just, whatever. Might be a neat thing to do in between lazer tag (which I still never got around to clearing my calander for).

What say you FF? Good idea, or no?

Jammies

Speeking of EU, can I share something? Curtis Saxton bites. Over 900 fighters in a Venator, the precourser to the Star Destroyer which holds 72 fighters? Come on. Wouldn't be a big deal but Lucas gave him a job, so his little fandom writings are now canon. And according to him, 320 of those fighters are Eta's, the Jedi Starfigher. So, 320 Jedi just hang out on each Venator? Sorry, I just needed to rant. And, to have my Star Wars Universe make some kind of sence.

You have my vote for a book club! I would also recommend starting with some to the stuff that has been out in paperback for awhile though. Gives everyone a chance to read/re-read a copy without having to go out and buy the latest hardback.

I am so glad you shared! I have had a problem with how many fighters they said a Venator carried since I found out about it. A smaller ship holds multiple times the amount of fighters an Imperial class holds? I think not! I just didn't know who to blame until now wink I knew about the Curtis' webpage before your post, but didn't know he was hired by Lucas. Grrr...continuity must be maintained...or at least plausible.

You will be missed at Lazer tag on Friday!

This Friday?

Shebs-- I am hosting our national conference this week at the Galt house (well, me and another University that is kinda big in the area).

I don't know what was in the Blue Milk when they hired Saxton. I LOVE his FAN site, but when you start making all that crud canon, well, I have a problemb with that. He is like that kid in middle school, the one that drew really bad drawings of tanks and spaceships and everything had like 500 guns? That kid, but with a Phd and a freelance gig at Lucasfilm.

Cungr, I have a model kit of the Venator, and I have "in scale" fighters that I bought from a second hand company. They won't fit in it. Not in the 900s. 50-70 maybe, but not 900. What can a modern day aircraft carrier hold?

The "Clone Wars Canon Crisis" keeps me up at nights.

D'oh! Laser Tag is this Wednesday...NOT Friday. Apparently, it has been hard for me to keep track of time lately wink

A modern carrier holds about 100 craft of varied types. But, that includes helicopters and support craft. Figure half of that for fighter and attack craft. Maybe a bit more. Been awhile since I studied these things on a regular basis.

Yeah a book club sounds good. Maybe pick a book every couple of months and get together and discuss. I would like to read new/fresh stuff. I think even if we limited our choices to new paperbacks and excluded hardbacks we would still find some good titles.

So who wants to take the reins on this?

I could step up to the plate on this one. But I don't know Shabs about heading something like that up. Here's my initial idea.... Meet at a book store once a month, shop for a book, everyone read it within that month, and talk about it when we get back together to purchase our next book. I know Barns and Noble on Hurstbourn has a coffee shop, treats, and comfy seats. We could meet for coffee there, discuss our previous months book, then shop for our next book. Does that sound good? batting

I'd be happy to help with this as well.
My idea was the same as Zannah's, meet at a book store and talk Star Wars.
