Yeah, Traviss' book adaptation was the best thing about the Clone Wars movie. Really gave the story/movie a lot more depth.

Mika, do you recommend that someone read the novelization of the Clone Wars movie? I usually do not read a novelization unless I read it before a movie.

"No, General. I'm not your subordinate. And what I'm coming dangerously close to is violence."

I myself don't usually read movie novelizations but I got this because it had Karen Traviss' name on it. She took characters from a video game and gave them life. I figured she could do the same thing for animated characters and I was right. This is a case where the book is better than the movie. She really adds a lot of depth to the story and characters. Dooku seems to have a legitimate beef with the Jedi Council and Republic and doesn't see himself as "evil". Anakin has a big beef with the Jedi Council helping slavers but not slaves. I saw Episode I this weekend (Spike TV) and was reminded how arrogant Yoda and the Council was to Qui-gon and Anakin. And in the book Anakin gets a nice dig at Yoda when discussing Ahsoka "There are no problems, Master," he said calmly. "Who could possibly make such a far-reaching judgment about a youngling's future in such a short time anyway? That would be rash. Unfair even. It's our duty to nurture talent and support it." Heeeee. Anyway enough thread hi-jacking. I'll bring the book to the meeting to loan to you if you want it.

I just finished "No Prisoners" and it was great! I like how Karen Traviss makes her characters think. They're deep and ask the tough questions and make you think about it too. Rex gets as fleshed out in this novel as any of Traviss' Republic Commandos. Oh, and just to make Ahsoka and Anakin open their eyes a little, she introduces them to Master Altis, leader of a splinter group of Jedi who don't deny attachment/marriage and yet haven't turned to the dark side. Zannah, I think you'll especially like this book...Altis does not deny the existence of passion.

We all know how much Ms. Travis has won my heart with the "Commando" series, and I most definitely intend on purchasing anything she writes. At least where Star Wars is concerned.
applause And in my very best "May West" impersonation,"Within My Experience Darling, I Can Attest That Passion Is Very Real". batting "Z" >;~)
