Without getting too political, that's a 100% different thing. Show the US flag to different people and you get different reactions, it's a very personal thing. Show a swastika to people and the reaction is almost unanimous. Alright, I'll admit there are probably a few Buddhists (apparently) who would not immediately associate it as such, but even they would be aware of that association.

Anyway, on topic, I'm not sure whether this really applies to this thread, but what would people want to see from an Indy viral marketing campaign? They're incredibly successful, especially for this sort of well known thing (See The Lost Experience) and can be quite fun if done right.

Sideshows has landed the license to produce Indy collectables.

From LA Times.com

Sneak Peek: Sideshow ropes 'Indy,' debuts 'Buffy,' 'Godfather'

Sideshow Collectibles, one of the largest exhibitors at Comic-Con, has sent in exclusive news and sneak peeks at figurines and collectibles debuting in San Diego next week.

The Thousand Oaks-based company plans to unveil 70 new collectibles on the floor in their "museum style" booth.

They've also struck a new licensing deal with Lucasfilm to produce collectibles from all four "Indiana Jones" films.

Anyone crazy enough can now stick a life-sized bust of Indy right in the middle of the living room.

Thanks to mfisher over at The Raven for alerting me to the article.

First look at the new Indiana Jones toys from the Official Star Wars Blog

Hasbro's Indy Collection
July 27th, 2007

The program guide may say Star Wars day, but the man with the hat is making a big splash at Comic-Con. As part of today's Hasbro presentation. Created by the same team responsible for the Star Wars line of toys and figures, Hasbro's Indiana Jones toyline will celebrate all four Indy movies. On display at their booth was just a taste of the classic assortments, with 3 3/4"figures and the "Galactic Heroes"-style cutesified pairs for fans of all ages.

Two packs of the Adventure Heroes collection include Indy and the German Mechanic, Indy and the Cairo Swordsman, Belloq and the spirit of the Ark (God's wrath has never been sooooo cute!) and Sallah and a Mummy. On display at the Hasbro booth is a market place Marion with monkey sidekick. Of the 3 3/4"collection, Hasbro's floor display showcases Indy, Belloq and Sallah, while some of images shown during the presentation also included the Cairo Swordsman, the Monkeyman, and marketplace Marion Ravenwood complete with frying pan. Each figure comes with an 'artifact' (like the headpiece to the staff of Ra or the golden fertility idol of the Chachapoyan warriors) as an extra collectibel. Look for them in 2008.

SDCC07: Hasbro Collector Coins
Posted by Curto on July 26, 2007 at 05:30 PM CST:
Hasbro has a pair of cool coins they are handing out at Comic-Con: one for Star Wars and one for Indiana Jones! Yeah, that's right...there's a special gold Indiana Jones IV coin that says "The adventure continues...May 2008!" There won't be coins included in the line next year...Hasbro just did this for fun.

Does anybody think Hasbro will apply the Indiana Jones license to some of the other brands of toys, like how they're coming out with Galactic Heroes-style Indy figures? Like, will we see Indiana Jones stuff in the Titanium (die-cast figures and vehicles) and Unleashed lines?

Just wondering.
