You know what Indiana Jones merchandise would be neat to see next year?

Fleece throw blankets, especially if they had Drew Struzan-style artwork on them. But none of that "no-sew" crap-I saw some pretty neat-looking SW throws at my local Wal-Mart over the past couple years, but they were of the no-sew variety, and since it sounded complicated putting them together, I decided to not get them. They better not do that with Indy blankets.

I'd love to read some of the grown up Indy's adventures. Though there is a book series on the Young Indy, I read them awhile back, got em off amazon if I remember.

I remeber those books. I think had five or six of them. They were really well written.

Found this over at TheRaider.net's message board The Raven

A boardmember named walker has found some new listings for some upcoming Indiana Jones books.

Hi all
Just did an updated search on Amazon to see what new info might be listed for upcoming Indy literature. Some pretty cool stuff. I'll save the best until last.

The Complete Making of Indiana Jones
By J.W. Rinzler and Laurent Bouzereau
Paperback: 288 pages
Publisher: Del Rey (May 20, 2008)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0345501292

Indiana Jones Heroes and Villains Sticker Book
Reading level: Ages 9-12
Paperback: 16 pages
Publisher: DK CHILDREN (March 31, 2008)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0756634997

Indiana Jones Golden Treasure Sticker Book
Reading level: Ages 9-12
Paperback: 16 pages
Publisher: DK CHILDREN (March 31, 2008)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0756634989

AND THE REALLY COOL ITEM:

Indiana Jones IV Movie Tie-in
By James Rollins
Audio CD
Publisher: RH Audio; Unabridged edition (May 20, 2008)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0739358987

The version listed is an audio book, but the actual book is already listed on the Amazon UK site. Here are the details:

Indiana Jones IV Movie Tie-In (Hardcover)
by James Rollins (Author)
Hardcover: 400 pages
Publisher: Del Rey Books (20 May 2008)
Language English
ISBN-10: 0345501284

It was a no-brainer that they were going to do a movie tie-in. So why is this such a big deal? Two reasons: James Rollins is the real deal - a bestselling author who writes excellent books that are very much in the Indiana Jones vein. Rollins is a great choice - it's almost like hiring Clive Cussler. I'm amazed Lucasfilm is shelling out the bucks to get him on board. The second reason is that this tie-in is a HARDCOVER! No mass market paperback for this film. Great news.

Looks like they're pulling out all the stops to ensure that the merchandising for Indy 4 is bigger and better than it has been for the previous films. Good times ahead....

Sneek Peek at The Making of Indiana Jones from Starwars.com

Indiana Jones is Back -- and Del Rey's Got Him
September 27, 2007

Del Rey Books, an imprint of Ballantine Books at the Random House Publishing Group, has announced that it will publish tie-in books based on the long-awaited, eagerly anticipated new movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which will premiere throughout the world on May 22, 2008.

Del Rey Books was the publisher of the original movie novels, and this new adventure will be penned by New York Times-bestselling author James Rollins (Black Order, Map of Bones, Sandstorm, and the forthcoming The Judas Strain). Del Rey will also be publishing The Making of Indiana Jones by Laurent Bouzereau and J. W. Rinzler, a behind-the-scenes look at the people, places, technology, and events that went into the creation of all four Indiana Jones movies, beginning with the classic Raiders of the Lost Ark and culminating with an up-close-and-personal look at the brand-new blockbuster.

"We're very excited to be working with Del Rey on the new Indiana Jones books," said Carol Roeder, Lucasfilm's Director of Publishing. "Del Rey was there with the first Star Wars novel, and the first Indiana Jones novel, so it's wonderful to be able to continue the great adventure together."

"The Indiana Jones movies have attained legendary status in the world of film, and the character of Indiana Jones is a legend in his own right," noted Del Rey editor Shelly Shapiro. "We are thrilled to be a part of his return, and to have the opportunity to show an entire new generation of readers how exciting these novels can be."

I have to say that if that's the packaging, then there's nothing too exciting. And I say that as a good thing. They're sticking true to what got them there. That's how all the old Indy toys used to look. That packaging above could be from 2007 just as easily as it could be from 1987. Cool. happy

Nothing says 'action-adventure' like a bowl full of chocolate boulders and skull-shaped marshmallows.

Start your morning the Indiana Jones way... with more fat and sugar than you could possibly need in a 24-hour period!

Yea, I just received the e-mail for those today. I'm really looking forward to the mini-bust but not so much the statue. The face on it looks a little strange and it's a little out of my price range. tongue

I can't wait to see the final image of the bust, though.

I'll definitely be picking up the bust, not the statue though: the horse looks like a little pony with sticks for legs. I would pick up some other busts though if they made them.
