Hey guys, Adam here...
I usually don't post any pics of my artwork until after they're done, but here's a sneak peek at one that's in progress -- about 75% there.
This one was inspired by the STAR WARS "circus style" poster, using the same basic layout. I hope to have it done in a week or two, and think it's my favorite of all the paintings I've done of the character.

Wow, very nice, Adam! That's gonna look great when it's finished!
I'm an artist myself and I have a few questions for you:
1) How are you setting up the under painting? I kinda looks like graphite renderings of the characters or maybe highly detailed b&w washes.
2) What kind of surface are you working on? Are you actually working on a piece of wood(get that old-fashioned feel like the original poster had)
3) And finally, oil paints?
Again, nice job!

I think it's great but the only problem I have is that it features Sean Connery who isn't in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think it might be nice to put Marcus in his place.

Actually, I've posted a blog that's tracking the painting's progress. I should have the finished product up on my site before the release of INDY IV...

By the way, are any of you going to see the 12:01am screening at Hollywood's Cinerama Dome? I already bought my tickets!
Adam
P.S.: What do you mean Sean Connery wasn't in RAIDERS??? I never knew that! I guess I need to see the films again... Sigh... Seriously, though, I added his "headshot" as a little cameo; remember, the RAIDERS poster is supposed to be glued to a wood board, along with other pictures and ripped paper, etc...

Here is the final painting, at long last.
I'm officially retiring from painting Indy from now on, I think. I don't think I can do better than this.

I've written to Lucas Licensing and Acme archives to see if I can sell prints of this, but haven't gotten a response. Maybe if enough people expressed a demand for it, something might happen?

That is a very nice piece there. If you get permission to sell prints, shoot me a PM. I'd love to pick one up.

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, I'll actually be donating a print of this artwork to a charity raffle at CAPSOLE @ 7320 1/2 Melrose Ave., LA, CA 90046. The event starts at 7pm Saturday 5/31, so if you decide to go, be sure to say hello!

The event at Capsole went really well, and I was surprised to find some people there who had already seen my poster design online. Here's pics of me and the winner of the poster in the raffle:
You can find more pictures on my MySpace page at myspace.com/madcinemalad.

I'm tentatively heading to Comic-Con in July, so if any of you plan on being there (and I'm sure a few will) let me know. It'd be great to meet fellow Indyfans, and San Diego is an incredible city.
I'm putting some prints of my work up in the artists' auction (on the 2nd floor), so keep your eyes open for them.

So help me, I'm now flirting with the idea of turning this into a series, using the "circus style" poster template for TEMPLE OF DOOM, etc... I'm just not sure if people would be interested enough; I never did hear back from ACME regarding the RAIDERS piece I made.
I've also put the original oil painting up for sale on my site.
No, I'm not expecting a sale anytime soon, as it's admittedly quite pricey.
