I don't really like fighting sports, unless it are martial arts.
I think it is kinda useless to beat the **** out of someone in a ring to prove how great you are while a Shaolin Monk would still kick your ass without much effort.
Anyway, what kind of fighting sports are there in the Starwars universe?

There's blastball, which I think is kinda like zero-g basketball. There's also Pod and Swoop racing.

Mike, I'm not a violent person, but have been into martial arts since I was a boy. Comparing apples to apples, a fight between a boxer and a shaolin monk would not be a fair fight. I've been a boxer and a martial artist. You also can't put a wrestler with a boxer in the same ring. There are different rules that govern each different style and sport.
I think it would be interesting to see the shaolin monk style of wushu/gung fu against the likes of some of the Brazilian jiu jitsu and similar grappling/submission styles employed by the fighters of no holds barred hand to hand combat.
NHB, or no holds barred doesn't really mean that there are no holds barred. There are strict rules that govern the UFC forum, for example, to protect the safety of the fighters so it's not like the stereotyped brainless brawls that you see in the movies.

I didn't think you were a violent person. You can't judge a person on the sports he likes.
I just have a grudge against sports like Boxing, UFC, Muay Thai etc.
I am wondering, when is it time for the next challenge?

Hmm, I guess it is about time to announce a new challenge. Usually I let the guild decide on the topic.
So it's back on the table. Let's hear some ideas gents! The last idea was a haiku, but I don't think we should do that. Thoughts anyone?

Not a haiku. Other than that, I don't know.
Wait, why not somthing mushy in honor of Valentine's Day. You know, for those of you that have someone to make that day important.
Not that I'm complaining. It's so much cheaper to be single during the month of February.

A vignette about Canon Characters their thoughts about war?
It can be characters from any Era?

Or we could combine the last two ideas.... Soldiers writing home to their sweethearts. Canon characters or OCs. Any Era.

Great idea, R_Zion! Or we could combine the last two ideas.... Soldiers writing home to their sweethearts. Canon characters or OCs. Any Era.
This month's "Valentine Challenge" theme will be titled, "A soldier's letter home". This challenge's word limit will be 4,000. That should be more than enough. The guidelines will be, but is not limited, to depict the conflict that the writer is involved in and express his sentiments/affections for his loved one back home. The deadline for this one will be February 14. The object of this challenge is to write the most inspiring letter. You can use any canon character or your own original character, but the conflict/war has to be canon or EU. Examples are the Rebellion, the Clone Wars, Yuuzhan Vong invasion, etc. Keep in mind there were many battles within these great wars, so it's not as limiting. Good luck!
If three individuals would please volunteer to judge that would be greatly appreciated. I think three is the right number and will be the official number of judges for all challenges.

Only 5 days huh? ( I live in Holland, still six days in the U.S)
What if there will be no judges by that time?

Hmm, 5 days isn't a whole lot, is it!
Okay, the deadline will be 20th and the winners and awards will be announced on the 27th. So let it be written, so let it be done.
There usually isn't a problem recruiting judges. Right judges?

Considering my recent DRL attacks (which will get worse the next couple weeks), I think I'll just opt out of writing for this one. I would be up for judging though. And I can keep track of the entries like last time. I have time to troll the boards, but not enough to get past DRL and Darth Writer's Block at the same time.
