Alright, I'll break my silence on this one.
Important things do need to be discussed. It doesn't mean we can't still get together and have a good time, nor does it mean we have to return to the political-esque vibe that consumed the Boston boards a couple of years ago. Believe me, I have no interest in a return to the hostile bickering that went on at some of the first meets I attended. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG though with spending 15 minutes or so of a meet to discuss things that people feel are important to the long-term survival of these groups. It a simple matter of everyone checking their pride and egos at the door, saying their two cents and moving on. Nothing that should be discussed is meant to turn members on each other or to belittle anyone.
As I previously posted I believe, as do others that these FF's, Boston, Foxboro and Providence are on life support. It's also my belief that it would be better for everyone that we simply combine those 3 FF's and create one large "Southern NE" FF. We all post on each others boards, so why not just have one big board? We could use this opportunity to also bring some of the CT people who have recently talked about starting up their own chapter. Doing this I think would give us a really great opportunity to bring more people into the fold and allow us to do alot more stuff (even stuff that might actually be 'FUN'  ).
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not talking about building a 'powerful empire' or anything, I'm talking about opening the doors to people who may want to join a FF but don't have one close by or who even know about the whole FF thing. We could rotate meets from one location to another, One month we could be local, the following month we could do Western MA, RI or even something in CT (Chris tells me they have something called 'casinos' down there. ) It could also give us the opportunity to do maybe 2 or 3 local conventions a year instead of just SMF every November. Sure FF's are about having fun, but who the h*ll says you can't have fun and do some good at the same time?
So this is what I had planned on bringing up at the meet. Merging the 3 groups into one 'Southern NE' FF. Continue with the development of the web site (which is a great tool to have) and choose a new CR for the group. Personally, I think there is only one of us qualified to handle the job and that is Chris. I have already told him personally that I would step down as Boston CR if this 'merger' happened, go back to being the "Graphic Design Guru" and support him 100%.
So, if you guys want to vote now on a merger, go ahead. If you want to wait until the meet, that's fine too. There's 2 options. Merge or no merge. majority rules. No further campaigning, no debating, threats or recounts.
Alright, I think that's my .02¢...
As for the meet. Yes, we can put NASCAR on the TV (unless there is a Sox game, then NASCAR gets demoted to either the TV kitchen or the kids TV in the basement).
As for what to bring, give me another day or so to think about it. I'll supply the Burgers, Dogs and even some assorted 'adult beverages'. I'll probably also have some potato salad and perhaps a garden salad as well. If people want to start volunteering to bring stuff, by all means, start posting.
BTW, start time for the meet has been bumped to 2:00PM

Mike I will have to say I agree with ya on a merger of the groups especially the MA ones if anything else. For the past two yrs I have wondered why we have remained separate when there has been a combined 6 people posting on both boards. Plus this will eliminate any new people from being confused as to which group to join. I know I was confused when I first started on here I went to Boston first because I figured Foxboro was too far away for me to meet up with people. But when I looked into Foxboro and found out people were from Central MA it made sense to stay. I am sure I am not the only one when didn't know Foxboro was filled with people from Central MA. Merging with the other group also makes sense because some of us do post on the other boards and if we come together under one banner that would make for more activity on the boards and give us more options for meets. Plus it would give us exposure to increase members and possibly rebuild the different areas.
Let us know what you are thinking about food wise Mike.

Good points about merging guys. To me it is too big keep me interested in going to meets. That is just how it is. My time is limited so I can say for sure right now I will not venture past the MA borders.
So on Prop One: No to merging- Foxboro has never had a lot of posting members. We're the same people that have been here. I think of Tony and Jedi Fonger? Whom are not still here but we did pick up two other people so it evens out.
Prop Two: If Chris decides in the future he still wants to be CR then YES but for now he doesn't so we should just make do.
I just want to hang out and have. 0% formal anything for me; fifteen minute talk about whatver is on you guys.
I am not campaining to merge/ not merge, new CR etc. Whatever you guys decide is okay with me. I'm just person who may/ may not stick around to be honest. I've already lost some drive recently so we'll see how it goes.

Going to paste what I posted on the Boston board...
This is kinda 11th hour for me, and my best friend is getting married this weekend and will be away on his honeymoon, so it looks like I'm out of this one. As far as consolidating the FFs, I'm kinda on the fence...I like the idea of Boston, Providence, and Worcester/Foxboro having their own FFs, but I also recognize we don't have the numbers right now to support 3 FFs. If there is a consolidation, I will remain at everyone's service, of course. (BTW, there may be a consolidation of the two squadrons in the X-Wing gaming group I belong to, as well, so this is familiar territory.)

Hi there!
Like Richie, I am on the fence with regard to merging Boston and Foxborough. However, I don't think it wise to merge with an out of state group... as was pointed out above, most of us have such busy schedules
that travel would be a minimum for us.
If we were going to merge, I would suggest a merge between the Boston and Foxborough boards and look into renaming (if that's possible) the group to Metrowest (or even Massachusetts) Imperial Syndicate or something of the sort. That way, new people poking around the site aren't turned off (as I was with the name Foxboro) because it is so far away from their home base.
I do think that we need to take the people away from the computers and into the public eye. The t-shirts will help with this and, I think, participating in events such as the Relay for Life would help get the name out there as well. I had a dream last night that we went up to Children's Hospital for an event (don't remember the details - don't ask) but, the kids got the biggest kick out of it.
Might I suggest not printing up t-shirts until we make these decisions though?
Anyway, there's my 2 pennies. Hopefully, I will meet you all on the 24th... I am looking forward to it! I'll think on what I am going to bring and will let you know.

Alright Mike, what do you need us to bring on Sunday? I can bring some nachos, salsa, etc from Trader Joes. May be able to bring something else as well. I might try for some wings but who knows if the wife will do some or not. I may just hit Wings over Worcester quick they have some good ones. One of these meets we may have to do their party platter or something.
Let's get a running count of who is coming. So far we know Mike (his house) and I will be there. I am assuming Chris, Jim, Drew and family, and Matt (depending on how wife and baby are doing). I am just going by what people have told me so speak up if you are coming and let Mike know what you are gonna bring.

I am planning on coming by. I do need directions so, I will PM you, Mike. The apprentices won't be there this time.... they'll be with their Dad.
BTW - signature says 'K'.... that's what my friends call me. Korey is the real name (my Dad would say Korey-ann but, that was a long time ago... that name no longer means.... oh, never mind. You get the point!)
I am not sure what I will be bringing or if my room mate - who is also a big SW fan - will be there.
