I got the 'thanks for supporting the Patriots BUT...' message today. No Super Bowl tickets, AGAIN.

Seeing how the NJO is now an inactive chapter, should we approach the Mos Eisley Port Authority (the NYC chapter) about a banner wager on the Super Bowl?

They don't even seem to have a sports thread never mind a Giants/NFL thread. I'd say no unless someone on their end proposes a 'wager'.

With today's win in New York against the Knicks, the Celtics have clinched the best first-half record in the Eastern Conference, which means that Doc Rivers will coach the Eastern Conference squad in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. In other All-Star Game-related matters, the last check of the voting had Celtics forward Kevin Garnett leading all votegetters.

He certainly didn't appear to be injured Sunday.
Sorry about the lottery, Mike... maybe next year?

Michael Felger's report card for AFC Championship Game v. Chargers
As you would expect, the running backs got an A+. Felger felt the linebackers keyed the defensive performance, getting an A-. Felger did mention that Ellis Hobbs routinely gave huge cushions to his receivers, and so the secondary only got a C+. The running back trio of Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk, and Heath Evans, of course, got "Head of the Class" mention, as did Matt Light for the way he controlled Chargers LB Shawne Merriman, and Tedy Bruschi for "a throwback performance".

A source familiar with Tom Brady's injury told the Herald's Karen Guregian that the NFL MVP has a high ankle sprain, but it is a mild sprain, according to a second source, and it is not expected to affect Brady's status for the Super Bowl on February 3 in Phoenix.

A couple of Patriots items...
To update the Tom Brady story, he appeared at the rally the team held at Gillette Stadium this morning. He was not wearing the protective boot he was seen wearing in New York, and he walked with no noticeable limp.
In sadder news, Mike Holovak, the head coach who guided the Boston Patriots to their first championship game appearance in the pre-merger AFL following the 1963 season, has passed away. He was 88.

Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas allowed 4 goals by the West All-Stars on 18 shots, giving the West a one-goal lead in the third period, but Bruins teammate Marc Savard assisted on Eric Staal's tying goal, then tallied the game-winner with :21 left for an 8-7 win in the NHL All-Star Game last night by the East. Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara also assisted on a Marian Hossa goal for the East in the third period.

Linked above are the details of the traditional wager between the mayors of the cities whose NFL teams are playing in the Super Bowl, this year being Boston mayor Tom Menino (of course) and New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Here's one of the funnier exchanges during the Pats' media day session today...I posted the comment.
