I was a bit tentative calling home after the game, wondering how my megafan mom was reacting. She was spookily calm. She said right when we were about nine points up near the end, she got that sick feeling and knew, somehow, they'd blow it. After that, she was prepared.
I think this is a psychic power I would rather give back if I were her. It is one thing to suspect Cliff Clavin will blow everything on a meaningless Final Jeopardy wager, but this is quite another.

When we had a 3 point lead with 10 seconds to go, I let myself believe that we had won. I would have preferred losing in a blowout than to be so freakin' close.

Yeah, I had that same psychic premonition that your mom had, John. Something just told me that we were about to blow it. Nicki nearly Force-choked me over the phone during half-time when I mentioned overtime.

 That's what I keep telling him, Rhonda. He still has all of his appendages attached, or if he doesn't, I wasn't the one responsible. All I did was play mind games with him. I'm getting soft in my old age because I didn't make him suffer long enough.

I am unaware of this Tequila Incident of which you speak. It sounds like some event from the Mexican-American War. Was Zachary Taylor involved?
(But then, I managed to be completely oblivious to both the existence and location of the Midsouthcon Dance for the fifth consecutive year. The hotel lobby just sort of clears. I should read a program some time.)

I could have told Tim that he was Zachary Taylor last weekend, and he would have believed me.
The Tequila Incident occurred when Tim thought it would be a good idea for Tim, Traci and I to shoot tequila after we had already consumed other adult beverages. Fortunately for Traci and I (not so much for Tim), he consumed most of the bottle of tequila. Tim doesn't remember much, so I decided to see how much I could make him sweat by refusing to fill in the blanks in his memory.  I wouldn't even tell Traci because I was afraid she'd feel sorry for her husband.
I don't think Jose Cuervo is a friend of Tim's any longer.
