I move we make John an official (or at least honorary) member of SMT.
This means you and your wife should come and hang out with us when you come to town if you're inclined... we promise we're somewhat normal outside of con circumstances. And not TOO fanboy/girlish if/when the circumstances call for it.

Honored to entribe, though I have never been much of a drinker -- interfered with the card-playing. (Yeah, I was THAT guy.) I also found that the pH level of my acid wit plummeted dangerously with grape, which was not conducive to the friendly interchange of ideas or the peaceful coexistence of nations.
Possibly my favorite not-me faux pas (favorite because it wasn't me) came in high school when I visited the home of a male friend whose parents had always seemed perpetually lit. That day, he and I were in the company of a young woman who had long carried a torch for him -- something known to all, but never spoken of in our circle. After exchanging pleasantries with the inebriated parents, we extracted ourselves from the room -- almost. As we hit the steps, my friend's mom yelled happily after the girl, "Come back soon, dear! We like you, even if our son doesn't!"
Humiliating for everyone involved -- except me, which is why location is everything in an embarrassing situation. (It also helps to be be able to turn off the empathy gene!)

It turned out to be a great relief, because it was one of those things that had long needed to be brought out into the open. Things were a lot less awkward after that. The honesty of drunks and children...

Pic spam time! As all of my family and friends are sick of hearing about, I purchased my first house last month. The first room in the house is now completely decorated. Of course, I started with the fangirl room/office.
Traci gets honorary dibs on the fangirl room since she helped me paint it. The internet cafe is open anytime, my friend.

You have rugrats? Didn't see any kids running amuck at the show, so you must have a good storage system.
And my office wasn't that clean the day I moved in! It's only gotten worse from there — though bursts of cleaning get me through the occasional writer's block, they usually only get me through the top layer of paper.
