Is there one? I hunted a bit, and didn't find one, so if there isn't, I'll start my own. If there is, will someone point me in the right direction?

Seriously, she is THE coolest character in the EU. And where has she been? I haven't seen her since the Enemy Lines duology.

I second that. She's not my favorite character, but she's the good old warrior type who won't run from a fight. I haven't seen a Shada D'ukal Fan Club before, guess you got there first. Yeah, first post! Go me!

Shada! <3

She rocks. I read Hutt And Seek recently, and have a whole new appreciation for the smuggler types. Mainly Fen, but Shada = t3h awesome.

Shada's one of my favorite characters ever, I mean, she's right up there with Mara, Kell, and Wedge. I absolutely loved her in Vision of the Future.

Supporters! Huzzah!

I read "Hutt and Seek" too, and loved it. I like how Shada can kick some serious rear end and manage to not have an inflated ego. She just considers it her job.

We do indeed need to keep this place up. So let's discuss this: I know there has been a lot of debate about this, but I’m going to bring it up again anyway. Who would win, Shada or Mara?

The way I see it, the winner would be Shada, and it’s not just because I like her better. I think that Shada has the cooler head when she fight and doesn’t get as distracted as Mara, who seems (to me, anyway) more emotional. This might not seem like much, but it would mean that Shada would be less prone to stupid mistakes.

I agree. If Mara made any comments to get Shada off-track, they probably wouldn't work. And Mara's temper might also be against her.

I liked her a lot in Vision of the Future and Hammertong, but I wasn't too keen on her NJO persona (or Karrde's for that matter).

As far as who'd win, I'd give it to Mara during the classic trilogy era, but Shada'd have the edge until Mara hooks up with Luke 15 years later.

Not in my opinion, I don't think any authors other than Zahn (and perhaps Stackpole and Allston) have been able to get Karrde right. I would prefer they not be in the book at all if the authors aren't be able to get them right.

But that's just my opinion. I liked Keyes' NJO books in general, but his Karrde made me cringe.

He seemed to alternate between horribly vain and uncharactaristically heroic.

While Zahn might have made him vain, he was only heroic when it served his purposes. Risking his fleet against a superior enemy force to rescue some adolescent Jedi isn't the kind of thing he would have done in a Zahn novel.

That, and his vanity was supremely overdone. He didn't come off as smart to me, just a pompous ass who did a good thing for some kids.

You're right. I hadn't thought about it until now, but saving a buch of Jedi kids does seem to be OOC for Karrde.
