HERE COMES THE MOVIE!
*****Please note -
POSSIBLE SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!
*****
After a long hiatus, we are back with an outstanding challenge. However, we are still in need of
JUDGES
. Please PM
TKeira_Lea
if you wish to volunteer.
(You will need to be willing to read possible spoilers to judge.)
But now onto the good stuff:
CHALLENGE GUIDELINES
The challenge will be taking place from
March 7 to April 15 (Midnight board time)
. That gives you some time, so make the most of it! In light of the imminent release of Episode 3 we decided to give our challenge a PT twist.
Your story must explore this idea:
Jaina has never learned about Padmé, or her storied history with Anakin Skywalker. As her relationship with Jag becomes more serious, she worries that her calling as a Jedi will ruin whatever chance she has at happiness. Explore some turn of events in which Jaina learns a lesson from her grandmother, a lesson that shows she is capable of both loving and performing her duty…
If your entry has possible spoilers,
please post with the appropriate spoiler warnings in advance.
You can take this in any direction you want: romance, action, drama, angst, etc. Have fun!
Entries can be no longer than 2500 words.
You will be judged on the following criteria:
Grammar/spelling
Believability
Originality
Characterizations
Overall impression

What the Future Holds
What am I doing?
Jaina Solo asked herself. It was the middle of a war and she was sitting in her quarters, laughing with Colonel Jagged Fel. Her and Jag had been seeing each other for about four months in secret. Jaina was the Yun-Harla, the Yuuzhang Vong Trickster Goddess. Well, that was who she was pretending to be. It was all part of a carefully orchestrated charade General Wedge Antilles, Jag, her, and others came up with. Because of that, Jaina and Jag had to keep their relationship a secret.
Jaina pulled away from Jag.
“I know that look. What’s wrong?” he asked.
“People are dying out there,” she said bluntly.
“It’s a war. As horrible as it is, that’s how it works.”
“How can we sit in here like everything is okay?” Jaina asked more herself than him, “Death is all around us.”
“Which is why we must make the best of the time that we have together. Any moment could be our last,” Jag told her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, “Pilots die saving us. We go out and fight because we have to protect beings. We have to honor those who died for us by living life to his fullest.”
Jaina smiled at him and started laughing. Jag looked at her confused, “What?”
“Out of everybody who could possible say that, you do,” Jaina kept laughing, “Jagged Fel, the man raised by the Chiss. The grimmest man I ever knew. I didn’t think that it was possible for you to laugh and now you are going on about how important it is to enjoy yourself. My father would fall over if he heard you say that.”
“Your father would either blast me or put me in carbonite if he knew where I was right now,” Jag responded, laying her on her back on the couch and kissing her.
“Probably both,” Jaina answered and kissed him.
The alarms blared through the base. They were under attack. Jaina stumbled out of her quarters, pulling her hair back. The other Twin Suns pilots followed in suit, all rushing to their ships.
“What’s the situation?” Jaina asked Tycho Celchu as he ran by.
“Group of skips dropped in-system; about twenty or so. The Suns and Aces are going up.”
Jaina inwardly groaned. Wes Janson was a great pilot, but he was incredibly annoying. Jaina nodded to Tycho and ran to her fighter. After climbing inside, she glanced over to Jag’s clawcraft. He was crawling inside. He looked over and saluted to her. She did the same and put on her helmet.
“Twin Suns report in,” Jaina instructed as they entered space. Jaina waited until they had all reported in before giving out instructions.
“We’ve got twenty skips coming in two-hundred seventy degrees, port side,” Jaina told them, “Aces are with us today. Destroy them all. Get to it. Two and Three, you’re with me.”
“Affirmative, Goddess,” Jag’s voice called over.
“As you wish, Goddess,” Kyp answered.
Jaina pushed forward toward a group of three skips that were heading straight for the base. Jaina and Wes’s squadron weaved through the skips, destroying as many as possible.
Jaina gritted her teeth. One particular skip was really annoying her. It somehow managed to duck away from every shot. Jaina dove after it. She was going to destroy it no matter what. She followed it around, constantly shooting at it, but nothing was working. She could sense Kyp hovering nearby, keeping her clear from others. Jag was somewhere locked in his own battle.
Suddenly the skip turned around and headed straight for her. Jaina locked onto her targets and shot. She flew away as fast as she could, but it wasn’t fast enough. A huge piece of the skip hit her X-Wing. Jaina barely managed to hit the ejection button before it blew and her world went black.
Jag jumped out of his clawcraft and rushed over to where Kyp was waiting for him. Jaina has been brought in EV to the med centre. Wedge had given Jag control of the squadron to finish out the battle. Kyp had managed to protect Jaina until she was brought in.
“How bad?” Jag asked, slightly out of breath.
“She’s unconscious, internal bleeding, most likely. She’s got a lot of major burns. Her helmet did a good job of protecting her head,” Kyp told him. They started walking to the med centre.
Wedge stopped them, “Hold on, I need to get the report on the battle, Jag. They’re tending to Jaina right now. You can go down there soon.”
Jag nodded and followed his uncle. He didn’t like it one bit, but what could he do? His uncle was right. He knew that this was going to be the quickest debriefing he’d ever have.
Jaina found herself seated on a pedestal in a small garden. She saw a group of people standing around a small stone. She couldn’t hear what they were saying. One by one, people began to leave. She saw a little brown haired girl taken away by a similar looking woman. The little girl kept crying for her mother and asking where she was. The woman leading her away picked her up and whispered to her. Soon, all that was left were two men. They were talking, but Jaina couldn’t hear what she said. When they finally left, Jaina stood up and walked over to the stone. It read:
Here lies Padme Amidala
Savior of Naboo
Beloved Mother
Taken from us too young
Jaina frowned. Who was Padme Amidala?
Jag sat in a chair next to Jaina’s bed, watching her. Kyp and Jag kept a careful vigil over Jaina. Jaina’s parents had yet to make it in-system. They had been contacted right away and coming as quickly as they possibly could.
Jaina moaned and opened her eyes. She squinted at the bright light, blinking a few times before adjusting to it.
“Hey,” Jag said to her. Kyp squeezed her hand.
Jaina gave them a small smile, “Hi.”
Kyp looked at her, “Jaina that was incredibly stupid. You almost got yourself killed! What were you thinking?”
“Kyp, I-“
“You weren’t thinking! Did you stop to think what that little stunt of yours could’ve done? The Vong may not fall for this charade anymore-“
“Kyp, enough!” Jag snapped. Both Jaina and Kyp looked surprised at his outburst.
“Jaina knows what she did and I’m sure she’ll hear from Wedge about it. Cool it,” Jag finished. He turned to Jaina, “How are you feeling?”
“Groggy,” she answered, “and Kyp, thank you for being concerned.”
Kyp nodded. He squeezed her hand and left. Jaina smiled at up at Jag, “How long have I been out?”
“About a day and a half,” Jag told her, brushing her lips with a kiss, “Don’t do that to me again. Don’t scare me like that.”’
Jaina didn’t answer. She caressed his cheek and gave him a kiss.
Kyp poked his head through the door, “Your parents just arrived, so Jag you might want to get out of here.”
“Of course. Thank you,” Jag stood up, “I’ll see you later.”
Jaina was let out of the med centre a few days later. Her injuries weren’t as bad as they thought. Jaina was sitting on the couch in her quarters while Jag was at the desk working on a report.
“Jag?” Jaina asked.
“Yes, sweetheart?” Jag didn’t look up from what he was doing.
“Have you ever heard of Padme Amidala?”
Jag turned to face her, “Yeah. She was the Queen of Naboo during the Trade Federation invasion. She saved the planet. She then became the senator of Naboo. She died after the Clone Wars. Why?”
“I had heard the name somewhere. Where did you learn that?”
“School. The Chiss have a pretty good record of that time period. I remember I was intrigued by her. She had a secret marriage, but nobody knows who to. The Chiss say that her husband disappeared when she was pregnant. She died on Alderaan. Nobody knows what happen to her child.”
Jaina nodded, “Thanks. I think I’m going to go ahead and get to bed.”
Jag nodded, “Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Jaina kissed him goodbye and went to lie down. She began to try to figure her vision out, but fell asleep.
Padme was seated next to her sister inside of a small house.
“I don’t know where he is, Sola. He has disappeared!” a pregnant Padme was saying.
“Does Obi-Wan know?”
“I don’t know. His last message said that he had some ideas.”
“Is there something else?” Sola asked.
“Yes,” Padme nodded, “Obi-Wan says that I am in danger. He told me that Ani is gone.”
“You mean dead?”
“No! He’s turned, Sola. My Ani has turned!”
Jaina woke up with a start. Somehow, she knew that Sola and Padme were sisters. Padme was married to somebody named Ani that Obi-Wan knew. Obi-Wan said that he had turned-
It all fell into place. Ani was Aniken Skywalker. Padme was her grandmother. The little girl at the funeral was her mother, Leia. Jaina quickly jumped into the ‘fresher. She then dressed and rushed out to Jag’s quarters. She began to knock loudly.
“What in the world- Jaina!” Jag answered the door, surprised.
“Jag, do you have anyway to access the Chiss database from here?” Jaina asked, walking in.
“Yes, why?” Jag asked, confused.
“I need to find out all I can about Padme Amidala and Aniken Skywalker.”
“Jaina, you’ve been at this for hours,” Jag commented when he came inside later.
“I know, but I have to know about her.”
“Jaina, honey, there can’t be much more information about her,” Jag pulled Jaina’s chair away from the screen.
“There’s not.”
“Come on,” Jag told her, “lay down with me.”
Jaina curled up on the couch with him. He leaned down and began kissing her. She rolled on top of him, not stopping. After a while, he began messing with her shirt. Jaina froze as she saw an image in front of her.
Padme stood in front of a fireplace arguing with Aniken. Jaina could hear her say that they couldn’t be together. They were too different. She was a senator and he was a Jedi.
“Jaina?” Jag asked her concern, “I’m-“
Jaina was looking past him, “No, no! Why does it have to be this way!? I didn’t ask for this life!”
“Jaina?”
Jaina got up and ran out the door. Jag looked puzzled. He noticed that all of her research had fallen to the floor. He glanced at the top paper. It said three words on the top.
NOT A JEDI.
Jaina hated this so much. She couldn’t be with Jag. She couldn’t be with anybody. Ever. Her father wasn’t a Jedi, but her mother had never developed her skills. Her duties as a Jedi would tear her away from Jag. She knew that she couldn’t be with another Jedi either. They would spend too much time away. Jaina knew that if she stayed with Jag, she would end up like Aniken. She didn’t want that to happen. She knew she had to end it now.
Jag stared down at the holopad in disbelief. Jaina had sent him a message saying that she couldn’t be with him anymore because of her duty as a Jedi. Jag couldn’t believe it.
Jag stood up. He had lost his entire reason for staying here.
Jaina stepped into her room from the ‘fresher. A glowing figure was standing in front of her, “Who are you?”
“You don’t recognize me, do you? I’m Padme Skywalker. You are making a huge mistake, Jaina. Don’t throw away your relationship with Jag,” the ghostly figure told her.
“It didn’t turn out well for you,” Jaina shot back.
“Even if I knew how it would turn out, I still would have married Aniken. Duties change, Jaina. When I was fourteen, my duty was to my people. As a senator, my duty was to the people. I never stopped helping people. Being in love doesn’t stop you from anything. It helps you grow and gives your life a purpose. You have to put yourself first, sometimes. I didn’t do that for the longest time. I thought that I couldn’t have both. You can Jaina,” Padme smiled softly at her, “Being a Jedi doesn’t mean that you have to give up everything. If Ani had stayed with the Jedi Code and me with my duty, you wouldn’t be here now. Never give up on love.”
Padme faded away. Jaina stared at the spot in amazement. All the time her grandmother had been talking to her, Jaina could see images of her grandparents. She saw the good times and bad. Jaina smiled softly to herself. She had to get Jag back.
Jag groaned as he got out of bed. Someone was pounding on his door loudly.
“Yes?” he asked, opening it annoyed.
“Jag, I was wrong,” Jaina stepped inside, “I was so very wrong. I need you with me. I love you.”
Jag cut off anything else she was going to say with a kiss, “It’s okay. I forgive you.”
Jaina grinned at him, “Marry me, Jag.”
“What?” Jag asked, not sure if he heard her right.
“Marry me,” Jaina repeated, grinning.
A huge grin broke out on Jag’s face. He kissed her passionately again, “I accept.”
As the couple embraced tightly, Padme and Aniken Skywalker watched, smiling. Jaina and Jag would face many trials, but they would face them together.

Hmm, I wonder?
Well, in a last-ditch effort to jumpstart the challenge and get more than one or two entries in, I'm posting my piece. It's one of two, but the other one's only part way done. And this one hasn't been beta-ed yet, so forgive errors (if anyone wants to volunteer to beta it,
PM
me). Anyway, here goes nothing... (And just barely under the word limit, due to some judicious editing).
*:*:*:*:*:*:*
Title:
The Sun Also Rises
Author(s):
Lt_Jaina_Solo
Timeframe:
Several years post-
Dark Journey
Characters:
Jaina Solo, Jagged Fel, Padmé Naberrie Skywalker, Anakin Skywalker
Genre:
Drama, Angst, Romance, Fantasy
Keywords:
Summary:
Through a unique twist of events, Colonel Jaina Solo and Colonel Jagged Fel find themselves stationed at the ruins of the palace, on the desolate planet of Naboo, after the Allies liberated it from the Yuuzhan Vong. The planet has been selected as an important stepping-off point for continuing the liberation of the systems still under Yuuzhan Vong control, but for Jaina, it proves much more.

For the
"What’s In A Name?" JC Title Challenge
and the

. No spoilers, since I don't like to be spoiled myself

The two dark-haired pilots were crowded together on the shuttle, but might as well have had the galaxy between them. Soldiers and pilots chattered around them, but Jaina Solo and Jagged Fel stared straight down at the floor between their boots.
The two refused to talk about the “discussion” they’d had mere hours ago, especially in front of so many eager ears. Jaina could see it flashed across the tabloids:
Dream Couple Breaking Up? Jedi Princess and Imperial Colonel Duke It Out!
However embarrassing that might be, this is ridiculous! Girl loves guy, guy loves girl, they shouldn’t be giving each other the silent treatment!
her heart prodded her.
Then maybe he should have listened to my reasons for saying no!
her mind shot back.
It’s insane to even
consider
getting married when we’re probably not going to be seeing each other for months at a time!
Your parents made it work,
her heart reminded.
Yeah, well my parents were nuts. And I saw how much they fought,
she refused stubbornly.
And you’re going to end as some dried-up rancor woman, constantly racing after some momentary gratification,
that part of her shot back nastily before fading into silence.
Shut up.
“What?” Jag asked, his head rotating on his neck so that his ice green eyes could look at her.
Jaina could feel a light flush creeping up her neck. She must have spoken out loud “Nothing,” she muttered. If there had been a pillow anywhere nearby, she would have grabbed it and screamed into it in frustration. But there wasn’t, so she had to make do with clenching her hands into tight fists.
Finally the shuttle touched down on the planet, labeled Number Four-Alpha-Niner by geologists, and Jag leaned close enough to her that she could feel his breath gusting against her hair and suddenly sensitive skin. “You know, strangling me isn’t going to work out very well. All sorts of paperwork, and then there’s jail time.”
Jaina stared at him. “Have you gone off the rocker, Jag? What are you talking about?” she hissed as he walked away. “Don’t walk away from me!”
Heads swiveled in their direction, and she forced herself to tone it down. “What are you talking about?” she demanded, quieter.
“You haven’t stopped clenching your fists since we got onboard,” Jag pointed out as he pulled her aside from all the soldiers streaming off the unsightly shuttle.
“Clenching- you- argh!” Jaina groaned as she finally understood what he was saying. “Clenching one’s fists is actually a scientifically proven stress reliever,” she told him coldly.
“You’re stressed? I had no idea,” he drawled sarcastically as one dark eyebrow arched up over his jade eyes.
That’s when Jaina lost her temper. “You know what? That’s why I said no!” she hissed. “We waste all our time bickering over stupid things even when we have all the time in the galaxy! What do you think would happen if we got married and only saw each other for a couple days of the year? Any love or respect we had for each other would fall apart!”
His eyes smoldered then quickly dampened. “And that’s your argument for saying no then,” he said quietly.
Jaina winced internally, but forced herself to remain stoic on the outside. “Jag, you know I lo-”
He cut her off quickly. “Be quiet.” The bright pain in his eyes shut her up.
“Um, Colonel Fel, Colonel Solo?”
Jaina spun at the hesitant voice from behind them to glare at a sandy-haired, baby-faced lieutenant. “What?” she demanded harshly.
Jag laid an assuaging hand on her shoulder. Jaina caught the hidden message and fought back a glare that would have smote Jag on the spot. “What is it?” she asked more politely.
“I was ordered to guide you to your room, although perhaps you would prefer separate rooms?” the lieutenant offered hesitantly
“A single room is fine,” Jaina nearly snarled. She could feel Jag’s eyes on her, gazing at her quizzically, but she refused to look at him.
Why did you do that, Solo? Now you’re stuck with each other until you figure out some solution to this mess! Come on, just ask for two rooms!
But her traitorous mouth remained shut, and she found herself following the lieutenant and Jag into what was left of the palace. Part of it had been completely decimated, with laser burns and blast marks pocking the walls, clearly indicating what had happened here.
How would destroy such a wonderful place?
Jaina wondered to herself as she found her pace slowing. She ran a gentle hand over the remnants of a towering statue. It had been completely defaced, but some of the intricate carvings were still visible.
The quiet murmurings of her companions caught her attention, and she looked up. Jag and the lieutenant were nearly at the end of the hallway, and she found herself silently cursing as she jogged after them, making sure her eyes stayed glued forward so that she wouldn’t be distracted again. She failed.
Most of the paintings were completely gone, but one at the corner was still there. There was no plaque, and most of the face, but for a pair of large brown eyes, was completely gone. Jaina stepped closer to it, admiring the elaborate details that marked the crimson gown.
Is this a queen?
the brunette Jedi wondered.
Where have I seen this before?
She strained to grasp hold of the memory, but could only bring up a wispy memory of visiting a museum about the last politicians of the Old Republic.
No matter,
she shrugged to herself. Whoever was the person in the painting was long dead by now. But as she walked away, she felt something trying to pull her back.
“Jaina?” Jag’s voice brought her out of her musings as he stopped beside her. “Everything okay?” In face of the harsh words that they’d shot at each other, his concern now nearly proved her undoing.
Just barely, she managed to fight back tears, over what, she didn’t know, but tears nonetheless. “I’m fine,” she choked out. “I think I need to lie down.”
Jag looked unconvinced, but he nodded. “Come on, Stravalski showed me where the rooms where while you were daydreaming. I’m sure everything will be better with some sleep.”
Why is he so nice to me when I’m worse than a wounded rancor?
Jaina wondered as he took her bag from her and guided her down the hallway. She watched numbly as he pulled off her boots.
Why are men so confusing?
she finally thought as she drifted off to sleep.
*:*:*:*:*
Jaina had no idea how many hours had passed since Jag had put her to bed, but their room was dark with night. Moaning quietly, she rolled over in bed, coming to face to face with Jag’s shoulder. He snored lightly, not even stirring as she accidentally jostled his arm. She closed her eyes and snuggled closer to him, then turned onto her back, staring straight up at the ceiling. The cracks in the ceiling seemed superficial, hardly enough to warrant concern that the structure was going to come crashing down on them.
She giggled lightly as her finger rose and it began tracing the outline of several of the fractures in the plaster. “There’s the Belt of Four,” she murmured lightly. “And Montigra’s Paw.”
Beside her, Jag snorted and turned over. She raised an eyebrow as she leaned on one elbow, but he was still asleep. She flopped back onto her posterior, but tracing cracks had lost its allure. “Shavit,” she whispered as she slipped out from under the serviceable linen bedsheets.
Remembering the portrait she’d been so fascinated by earlier, she padded quietly out of the room and down the hallway, sidestepping a pile of rubble and wincing away from a polka dot row of blaster bolts burned into the wall. A quiet giggle caught her attention, and she spun. “Who’s there?” she called, peering to see who had called her. There was nothing but a dimly lit corridor filled with stacks of rubble and boxes of junk.
Definitely not one of the most charming bases the New Republic has sent me too,
Jaina thought wryly as she turned back around to continue her journey.
She blinked.
What’s going on here?
she wondered as she stared at the transformed tableau ahead of her. Sheer curtains billowed in a light breeze she could almost imagine slipping across her skin. Instead of pocked, crumbling walls, towering columns of sandy marble lined the sunny hallway.
“Come on!” a quiet voice giggled in her ear, and Jaina felt a phantom tugging at her hand. Looking down, there was nothing there, and she frowned.
Now this is getting freaky,
she thought to herself. Another tug at her hand, this one strong and insistent, grabbed her attention. “Alright, I’m coming,” she muttered as she stumbled down the hallway.”
Elegant stairs curved into a magnificent entrance hall where she remembered an abrupt drop. She tiptoed down the stairs, unwilling to disturb the sanctity of the mysterious image before her.
A cloaked figure stood in front of the painting she’d remembered, this version complete and beautiful. Dark brown hair was wrapped around a gold and scarlet face-framing headdress, matching the gown she’d admired earlier. White powder covered the face, scarlet touching the upper lip and drawing a line down the center of the lower.
“Ani?” Jaina spun, then darted out of the way as a dark-haired woman ran right through the spot she’d been moments before. “Ani!” The woman embraced the cloaked figure, her hands knocking back the hood to reveal dark blond hair. “I was so worried!” the woman murmured.
“As you can see, I’m fine, Padmé,” the man replied, pressing his lips to hers. “I was more worried about you, stuck here with all those politicians and sick to boot.”
“I don’t care about that, Ani,” the woman replied, pressing quick kisses to the man’s face. “It’s all worthwhile when you’re here with me.”
“I don’t have much time, love,” Ani replied, framing her face with his palms and pulling her gently away from him. “I slipped away, but I’ll still be missed if I don’t go back.”
“Anakin, please don’t go,” the woman- Padmé- pleaded. “I haven’t seen you for months!”
He looked away, up at the portrait rising tall behind them. “You look so strong in this painting, Padmé,” he mused before turning back to his wife. “I need you to continue to be strong for me, for us. I need to be able to rely on you being strong when I can’t. It’ll all be over in a handful of months.”
The woman stepped away, wrapping her arms tight around her waist, as a strangled sob broke from her.
“Padmé, don’t cry,” Anakin urged, stepping closer to her and wrapping his arms around her so that her back pressed against his chest. “You know it kills me when you cry.”
“Don’t go,” she whispered. “Just give me this moment. Please don’t go.”
The blond haired young man hesitated, then turned her in his arms and brushed his hands over her dark hair. “I can’t do that for you, Padmé, not now.”
“Why not?” she cried, pushing away from him. “What’s more important than your own wife?” she sobbed.
He stepped forward. “Nothing, Padmé. Nothing’s more important than you. But I’ll never see you again if we’re caught. Or worse, I’ll kicked out of the Council. You know how those Jedi are about love and marriage.”
Jedi?
Jaina bit back a gasp.
What’s going on here?
“Anakin, you know that they would never make you leave. You are the
Chosen One
, the one who’s supposed to bring balance to the Force, remember?” she reminded him. Seeing something in his face, she glanced away, up at the portrait. “I think you had better go,” she finally said.
“Padmé-” Anakin started.
“Not now, Anakin! You need to look at yourself and decide what it is you truly want,” she told him harshly.
“I
married
you,” he said fiercely, taking a step towards her.
She took one back, her dark green gown brushing the ground. “It takes two to be married,” she replied. “You’ll be missed, remember?” she needled him.
“Hang the Jedi. What’s going on here, Padmé?” he spat, grabbing her arm. “Why are you turning from me?” Something in his face grew ugly, frightening.
“
I’m
not turning from
you
,” the woman cried, wincing. “You’re hurting me, Ani!”
He released her, staring down in horror at his hands. Then, he turned and fled, his footsteps silent.
Behind him, two woman sought understanding of what had just happened. Padmé stared after him mournfully. “I love you, Ani,” she whispered. “But you’re turning from me, and I don’t understand what’s going on.” Seconds later, her gown whispered on the ground as she disappeared through the door.
Jaina had slid down to thump against the floor. That annoying phrase of her uncle’s flashed across her mind at that moment.
The Force acts in mysterious ways.
Eyes narrowed, she rose and stepped towards the portrait. With each step, the colors of the portrait faded away, replaced by the bright rays of the rising sun. The dream was disappearing. “No!” she cried as she sprinted forward. She caught a last glimpse of elegantly scrolled words: Padmé Amidala, first Queen, then Senator of Naboo.
“Padmé Amidala,” Jaina repeated, bowing her head. “My grandmother?” she tried the words hesitantly, but knew them to be true. Who else could it be? The woman looked exactly like Leia had in old holos Jaina had once found, dating back to the days of the rebellion, and the man she had called Anakin, and Chosen One. The brunette Jedi shook her head. It was almost too much to take in, and she was barely even sure of one thing. She wanted Jag.
“Jaina?” The hesitant voice snapped her head up and she spun to see him, standing there, looking completely befuddled.
“Jag,” she breathed, the word escaping without her knowledge, as she leapt forward and wrapped her limbs around his torso. Her words tumbled out, “Don’t want to end up like them so sorry Jag love you please forgive-”
He shook his head in confusion, slowly lowering her to the ground. “Whoa, Jaina, hold on. What happened? What’s going on?”
She ignored his words and pasted her lips to his. “I love you,” she breathed when she finally let him go.
He finally caught her meaning. “And?” he asked, raising his eyebrow in the way she found both infuriating and endearing.
She flushed bright red; she hadn’t thought this far ahead. “Will you, um, marryme?” she finally squeaked out, rushing the words together.
Jag threw his head back and laughed. “Of course I will, you little minx. Thought you’d never ask,” he teased as she flushed even brighter.
