The company that later became "LucasArts."

But as Lucasfilm Games, they released such wonderful Graphic Adventures as "Maniac Mansion", "Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders", "Secret of Monky Island", "Loom", and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." Wonderful games!! All of 'em...has anyone played them? Zak McKracken...I highly recommend it!!

What about a Zak movie? Sort of slap-stick....
Played it on the C64, real great game.

I used to play "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" at my friends' house for hours. We could never get past that one part in the sewer with the grate...

I love Zak! He's the greatest...I never get tired of laughing at the non-sensical antics in that game! There's some website trying to make a new Zak game....when they finish it, I'm definitely downloading it!

Askaak,

I only got to play that game for about an hour when I was seven....but I've been drooling over it ever since! I remember it being really different....it was like the other graphic adventures but there was more action, you could box....that was fun!! I'm still trying to find a copy of that game....among others!

I grew up with a C64 and "Maniac Mansion" and "Zak McKracken"... those were the best!

I'd love to see a Zak McKracken movie being made... and was the two headed squirrel a hint to the three headed monkey yet to come? *g*.

And I'd love to see an animated show of "Maniac Mansion", because I think "Day of the Tentacle" kicked more a** than the (without any doubt GRRREEEAAAAT) first part.

Who do you think would be a perfect cast for Zak? What about David Duchovny? I think he would fit perfectly...

When did they officially become LucasArts?

At any rate, the games hint line's automated message called the company "Lucasfilms Games" for years afterward...I always thought that was weird...

I think LucasArts existed since the early 80s as a company to create muilti-media merchandise for the Luzcasfilm productions.
Lucasfilm Games was named LucasArts in 1991 ( there are many references in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck´s Revenge, the first game under the new label ).

I remember its humble beginnings with Maniac Mansion...

Still ticked off that I could only solve it with Dave, Benard and Mike.

Used Wendy for the manuscript....
Made a demo tape with Sid....

AND WHAT ABOUT THE CHAINSAW!!!!!!?????

I looked for years for the can of gas, and where did I find it!?

On Mars!!!!!!!!

*Drum Fill*

Zac McCracken was a blast. Loved Loom and Indy...

I think I really fell in love with this medium with the original Monkey Island when Soundblaster was making a name for itself...

Played that game on a quiet Christmas eve and enjoyed the speakers...

And then came X-Wing...Awsome!

Followed by Tie-Fighter...Quicker, easier...MORE SEDUCTIVE!!!!!!

Vie le Lucasarts!

What about before then? happy

With "The Eidolon" and "Escape from Fractalus". Very early games on the C16 and ZX Spectrum!

~all coming back to me now~

Edit: Escape from Fractalus was so cool. When the aliens faked the rescue signals and you had to fry them before they could break into your ship. ~grin~ Where's my emulator!!

Ah, the joy of late 80's/early 90's videogame nostalgia.

I remember Ball Blazer!

Although I never played it, I remember seeing an ad for it, I think.

You can still buy the Maniac Mansion, Zak, Loom, Monkey1, and Indy Last Crusade games in a bundle from the LucasArts Company Store online at www.lucasarts.com/companystore. Dig around the PC section you should find it easy to find. Just a tip for those who didn't already know.
