yeah, that's your uncle dave in that stormie costume. went to the toy fair yesterday at the nec with kote, and loved it. picked up a bunch of matchbox cars that i had as a nipper, one of which is older than me, and yet another vader figure. not an accurate count, but i'm only missing four or five of all the vaders ever made (discounting the vintage ones). it was busier than memorabilia believe it or not! maybe because it's just a one day show instead of two i don't know, but the place was rammed.
anyway, for your viewing pleasure, here's my event report posted elsewhere (  )
what can i say? every time i crew for an event with kote it gets better and better! a pleasure meeting you guys who i hadn't met before, and of course you guys who i had met before
being "pressganged" into donning the sandman was awesome. i didn't know what to say and tried to shy out of it, but plucked up the courage to get suited up and boy, it was superb! i've never worn a costume before, any costume at all (none that i will admit to in public anyway ), and the thought of being simon g's body double for a while was a daunting prospect indeed. but once that armour was on i couldn't stop grinning, and the bfg too was the icing on the cake .
a couple of pics, (apologies in advance about the photo's, my camera is scratched on the lens, and i'm sending the photos to my bro who is a graphic designer by trade and hopefully he'll be able to take the "glare" off the shots)
almost immediately after stepping out i was accosted by a little girl screaming "a sandtrooper! can i have a photo?!", how can you refuse?
i have nothing but respect for you guys who troop, especially in the heat like at download and hyde park. i did just about an hour and i was MELTING lol, and it wasn't exactly a hot day! i could hardly see because the lenses fogged up, and that bfg weighs a ton after a while! i am in bits this morning, i need a massage!
a massive thank you to simon g for letting me be the legend that is the sandman for a short while, i am still grinning like a loon while i'm typing this
i absolutely loved it yesterday!!
