My apologies but have we got any more ideas for this. I don't know where to start with having a go myself. I was also thinking of a space scene with the different vehicles on as the few banners that I've seen have the characters on. Also can I respectfully request that the vehicles are just from Star Wars, my reasoning for this is that this is essentially a Star Wars site and therefore it should reflect as such, please don't get me wrong I like other things outside of the Star Wars universe as much as the next man/woman or beast but where do you draw the line!?
So back to my visualisation I was thinking of a planet in the top left (i.e. Coruscant) with a few planets spanning off from it with an overlay of the Star Wars vehicles i.e. the Falcon, an X-Wing, Slave 1, the Blockade Runner and so on...
Well I have sown a seed....

yep *agrees with Hal* the midlands chapter and i guess many other chapters realised a while back that we wernt just star wars anymore and that it was too infrequent to carry on with the films as the only view point.
i like the vehicle idea but i recon it would have to have other ships too and I'm not sure everybody is up on the ships from every sci-fi movie....
whereas people on the other hand....they tend to be more recognisable

I've just logged on and I am sorry to say that in my humble opinion...
EEEUUUURRRGGGHHHH!!!
I applaud the effort that has gone into creatng the banner but for me nnnnoooooooo! and what's with the random floating heads?
There are too many penguins especially the one that is roaring, and the colour scheme, granted fits with an ice scene but not with the rest of the page.
Basically I am a fan of Star Wars and sci-fi in general and I will gladly admit to liking Disney films especially the animated ones but to theme the banner on Happy Feet, to me, doesn't fit.
I don't wish to offend anybody as I appreciate that it is a diffucult task to design a new banner and the skills required to actually publish it more than exceed mine, it's just that I stand by my earlier comments that this is essentially a Star Wars fan site. I am not that stubborn as to welcome other genres/themes/tastes and will be more than happy to contribute my penny's worth in any threads about whatever. Aside of Star Wars I am into, in no particular order, Motorsport (esp. Senna), Anime, Commando Comics, Martial Arts flicks, Movies, Music, Computers (mainly gaming), Sport and generally most things.
In regards to the comment about the different ships, and in danger of creating a whole load of work for somebody, maybe there could be a competition to guess all the sci-fi ships/vehicles that appear on the banner and following that the banner could be changed to something else and another competition could be run to guess more items. At the risk of sounding contradictory, in this instance the banner could depict various themes (i.e. random James Bond characters, (as there's a random floating head) football managers, etc...) as there would be a purpose to there being non Star Wars (or sci-fi) images.
To end this personal rant on a positive note, I do think the Star Wars character penguins are way cool so they could stay and maybe be expanded on.
To finish, as I step down from my soap box, these are my personal expressions and I do not intend to upset anybody so I apologise if I have.
