I'm reposting this from the LAFF boards. I know last year some of you participated, though this isn't Lucasfilm this year it still may be something fun to do.

This is to all those crafty folks amoung us. We have been asked to help again with the decorating of the Rose Parade Floats. This time around the company Festival Artists Worldwide has three entries that they need help with LA Dodgers, XXIX Olympics, and China Airlines. I've posted a breakdown of the shifts available and other important information.

    Shift 3: 3:00am - 12:00pm

Those volunteers participating in Shift 3 on December 31 may stay for the final
judging at 8:30am, but we ask that you stay until the judging of all floats is
    completed.

    ATTIRE
We suggest that all our decorators wear old grubby clothes, because this is a
construction site and there is a lot of paint and glue. You may also want to bring
a sweater or jacket, as sometimes it can get very cold.

    FOOD
You are encouraged to bring a sack lunch, but a lunch truck will be available on
site. There are also fast food restaurants in the area.

    AGE LIMIT
Only people 13 and older are allowed to be on scaffolding. Children ages
11 -12 may decorate in other areas.

    VALUABLES
We do not have lockers or storage to keep sweaters, jackets, purses etc.
Radios, CDs and cassettes are not permitted. Please use cell phones
outside the float building, as they interfere with our communication
    system.
Also, as a reminder, there is no smoking inside the float building.

    PARKING
Festival Artists Worldwide does not accept responsibility for parking,
security for decorator?s vehicles or personal property. This is the
decorator?s responsibility. Parking is available on the streets.

This season, Festival Artists Worldwide will also host a canned food drive to benefit the LA
Mission. Float volunteers are asked to proved a non-perishable, canned food item each day.
Outside donations will also be accepted and can be delivered to the Festival Artists Worldwide
warehouse located at 120 N. Aspan Avenue, Azusa, CA 91702.

Space is limited and fills up quickly. Please send an email with your name, contact information,
choice of day(s), shifts and times to aesandrea@earthlink.net. You will receive confirmation of
your registration and further instructions shortly thereafter. We look forward to hearing from you
and thank you again for your participation!

Doesn't look like I'll be able to this year..but hope to get to do it again. Last year was the most exhausting, and most FUN thing I have ever done. Not only worked on the LFL Floats, but did one of the Butterfly's on the China float. So, I have to say...you do work yourself into the ground, but NOTHING beats that early morning when you see the floats you worked on, fired up and heading out the Float Barn door!!!

    :D
