From the Grey Journals

When the continents drifted together, we thought the world was over. Thinking back, I wish it would have been. Not long after the "collide", as it was commonly called, We made contact with the two other civilizations living in our world.

    And then the War started.

It has waged for five grueling decades, with neither side truly winning the advantage.

Funny, you rarely think that you could hate somebody you have never met, but to the Gharderaani people, it was an art form. With abilities beyond our capabilites, and the fact that they vastly outnumbered us, the war looked so bleak in those early days. They burned everything in their wake in the name of their precious god.

The Arkylites were little better, calling on powerful magics that burned the sky and summoning horrible monsters to fight fo them. Sometimes I think that if our two factions had met in more peaceful times, we could have truly accomplished marvels.

And then there were us, brave citizens of Mechanus. Children of science and masters of metal, we have forged and animated our great empire with blood, sweat and soot. But where was our precious technology when the war came? Running low on coal, our only truly mobile power source, the end of the war draws nigh for our nation.

But the higher-ups aren't quite ready to give in yet. Our best minds have come to the conclusion that when the three land masses slammed together, there was a small island that was smashed between the thrinity of continents. This island is said to contain more coal then our entire continent, stowing it just beneath the earth.

It shouldv'e been easy to capture the middle grounds, nobody had paid it any mind before, However, as it always is for this grand nation, it wasn't. The Fanatics had gotten it in their minds that it was a holy ground and those thrice damned mages believed that it was a portal to the outer planes of existance.

Everyone knew it was going to be a tough fight, but nobody expected what lay in wait for them...

Hello and Welcome to Artikus: End Game!

If you made it through the Intro and are reading this, congrats! [face_dancing]
If not you can't hear me calling you a slacker, Slacker! [face_tongue]

On a more serious note, this is a Adventure/Action RPG set in a world filled with war. Expect some suprises and excitement as you play out this world's final days.

    Rules

You guys know the drill. Same rules you've read a thousand times before. Follow TOS, no godmodding, etc...

    Factions

The three factions to choose from are the Mechanus empire, the Arkyle tribes and the Faithful of Gharderaan

Mechanus- The Mechanus are a group of humans who have harnessed the power of steel and steam, making them the masters of science and mathematics. Just a few of their technological wonders include large zepplins, primitive firearms, war golems, steam tanks, siege ballistics and many explosives substances and powders. The culture of the people is very similar to that of old england's industrial revolution.

Arkyle- The Arkyle specialize in the Magiks of this world and the next. Their power is limited to their specialty however, only being trained in that particular field. Popular fields include Elemental, Transmutation, Illusion, Necromancy and Defensive magiks. They travel in tribes and meet once every year to disperse the children to amongst the other tribes to be trained. They operate on a Master-Apprentice relationship system, much like that of the Jedi Order

Gharderaan- The followers of Gharderaan are fanatics and mad-men completely devoted to their dark god, Gharderaan. They have been brainwashed to follow his orders unquestionably, though a few have managed to see through the enchantments. The ranks of the Gharderanni are filled with "invincibles", human foot soldiers called such because if one falls another will just take his place, and demonic warriors. A caste of battle preists ex

Max decided to go and try and steal a firearm from a soldier. Valerious was killed in the battle that resulted and Max in a rage induced fury used all of his power to blast fire outwards. Age: 35
    Species: human
    Faction: Mechanus
Personality: very nonconfrontational, she is not strictly a passivist, she just does not see the war as affecting her. The loss of her husband has left her quite cold.
Traits: She lights a candle at 8 every night in honour of her husband, she also has a small orchid tattoo on her shoulder
    Appearance: [image=http://www.miniechelon.com/girls/dita_von_teese_11.jpg]
Profession/Speciality: Commander of The Ghost Orchid and leader of Alexandria
Weapons: the force of the Ghost Orchid
Bio: Lady Maya De La Croix was born a simple peasant on the outskirts of the fledgling city of Alexandria. Its young and ambitious leader Christian De La Croix built the city at the age of 17. Maya met the leader on one of his visits to the farm land. He was 29 and she 16, dispite the age difference he fell in love with her and asked her to marry him. She did and under their joint rule the city of Alexandria gained hight and political importance, although stayed the same size for an unknown reason, never stretching further than the city walls. This was to their advantages as when the continants collided the city remained practical to defend. However at this time Chistian disappeared and Maya activated the emergancy defences as were his orders on his death. The collosal zepplin, the Ghost Orchid, soared to the sky and took its first flight, taking the city with it.

The portable city then became a vital part of the Mechanus war effort, allowing a place for meetings and a portable site for armies to march from. However after a devestating counter attack from the Arkyle Maya withdrew her support in order to protect her people. The city now remains a silent party to the Mechanus war effort. Supplying them with a place for meetings and some weapons but not openly helping them.

How inferior is Aero?!" She is also very witty, sarcastic and imaginitive.

Traits: Violence, wit, agility, she is a perfectionist never leaving an enemy alive and dislikes being beaten by someone of the same level.

    Weapons: [image=http://www.geocities.com/quixsilver8/Fantasy_Swords-Kilgorin_Sword2.JPG]

Bio: Madison was raised with her Tribesfolk closely studying the Magiks from a young age. At the age of 10, she started learning the theory behind Transmutation and at 13, she began working on small inanimate objects like plants and stones, usually mutating them to one another or water, which was her personal favourite. At 15, she began working on larger inanimate objects like small trees, stoves and household furnishings. It was only at 16, once Madison had learn't responsibility and had matured, that she was allowed to begin transmutating herself. So far, she has only worked on transmutating to a gaseous form but hopes to experiment with her seniors. Being an academic and dedicated person, Madison is happy about education, learning and always thrives to be the best.

The ground itself quaked with the wiegt of the great war machines and sheer amount of soldiers. Zepplins, winged pit fiends, and other fantastical creatures filled the skies. The land was blanketed with troops from all three sides, fanning out in a strange triangle.

This was it. The battle that would decide the fate of the world.

The spellcasters of Arkyle were divided into squads according to magical skill and specialty. Gharderaan's dark servants lined up into their legions, headed by demons of great power. Mechanus steam tanks and riflemen lined the field ready to open fire at the first sign of enemy movement.

The time was now. The factions were poised to destroy themselves.

The commanders were meeting to plot and plan their decided outcomes of the battles, for if they lost here, there would be no no second chance. The tents were well hidden and defended in their own means. Gharderaan had opted for a ring of hell feeders, the most vicious form of demon that could be summoned from the depths, whereas Arkyle had chosen complete invisibility and Mechanus who had shielded theirs within a roving, nearly invincible bunker.

And that was how it started. Not with weapons, but with ideas.

    Arkyle's Invisible Command center

Inside the cloaked pavillion, Archmage Veros had gathered some of the best the tribes could offer. A fiesty, but dedicated, transmuter called Aero and a battle worthy pyromancer known as Draco were two of the most promenient among them.

"Hello, my children." he said to the group "You fight today, not just for your own sake, but for the existance of the tribes future. You all know that magik is a powerful ally, second only to the bonds of friendship. You will use both today to defeat our enemies." He paused for a moment to scan the crowd. "Now to the front lines with you all. Deploy in squads and watch your comrades backs, there are few enough of us as it is." His gaze fell to the two junior magi "Aero, Draco, come here for a moment, I've a special assignment for you two"

    Jhakan, The Mechanus Mobile Fortress

The dimly lit interior of the tracked fortress wasn't nearly as Impressive as the outside, but was just as safe. A large table sat in the front covered in maps and small mechanical pieces that represented different forces. Commander Dhavok stood at the fore front of the small moving battle field explaining to the other war leaders, what he had gathered so far. "...And we need more riflemen to hold up the left flank of the damned mages will march right over us. The tanks from this line need to be distributed throughout..." He was cut off by a high pitched alarm. "Bloody hell! What is it now!"

"Sir, I don't believe it... It's the Ghost Orchid! They say that they have our reinforcements and are carrying an additional suprise, captian Von Stukov!" said an ensign from the communications switchboard.

"Well what are you waiting for! Hail them and put them on the main speaker! Give me that microphone! Maya? Maya?! Do you copy? Captian Stukov, are you present?"

A slave darted through the lines looking for the recipiant to the message he carried. He had no idea what was writtten on the paper in his hands, just that it was important and if he didn't deliver it his corpse would be fed to the troops.

The person he searched for was Jynce-Volder Murekh, otherwise refered to as Trail. He was a tactition of no small esteem and would most likely be behind the front lines, where he could direct the battle.

After a few more minutes of scanning the field he spotted him astride a nightmare steed, ordering soldiers surrounded by the light of the demons firey mane. It didn't take him long to close the distance. "Here, my liege. Orders from the High Priest himself" He said

This is where you can get a feel for the game, meet the people of your faction, and march out to the front lines. If we reach a good enough point, or we need to advance for whatever reason, we'll introduce the next section. My PM box is open for any questions or comments.

Trail slowly opened his eyes after having gone to sleep last night. It was slightly before the wakening call, but he usually liked to have some time to think to himself.

After all, there was a lot to think about when you were fighting a war.

He couldn't quite recollect much before the war. It was mostly unrelated and hazy memories. It was an unfortunate accident during a battle that cost most of his memory. He remembered waking up in a hospital without even a name to wear.

So for him, his life was the war. Ever since the continents collided it had been a ruthless fight against each other. The Gharderaani needed room to expand, and the pitiful other nations were simple targets. It was for the betterment of the Gharderanni, and if it cost worthless souls from the others, then it mattered not to Trail.

Never the less, he had work to do before it was all said and done. The waking call went out and the camp began to spur into life. Trail donned his uniform and walked outside of the tent and took a brief look around. His soldiers were gearing up for the day's activity, and he would need to inform the captains of their duties. After all, it was his job to direct the fighting. It was their job to make sure his plan worked.

He strode to the stables where a young slave saddled his horse. Trail climbed on and had his horse slowly walk out to where the activity was. He watched silently for awhile when a slave approached.

"Here, my liege. Orders from the High Priest himself." the slave said, extending it with shaking hands.

Trail looked in disdain. He was good at evaluating situations, and from the looks of it, the slave was probably late with the message.

"Very well," he said in a bored voice, "You are dismissed."

He waved the slave away, then preceeded to open the letter and read it.

"Archmage Veros, I am here as you requested. What are your orders?" Draco said as he rested his hand on the hilt of his greatsword. His hair was pulled back in a braid and his eyes had grown hard and fiery. His body was held at ease, but ready to attack or defend at a moments notice. He had went into what he called his battle mood.

    Callsign: Mist

    Age: 17

    Species: Human

    Faction: Arkyle

Personality: Calm and quiet, she?s not much of a talker, and is her tribe?s lone wolf. She tends to be sarcastic and mean towards those she doesn?t like but is mostly quite nice. She breaks rules often, but always finds a way to wriggle out of the punishments. She?s quite dominant as well, easy to make smile, but is rarely seen laughing. She loves Madison?s sarcasm.

Traits: Has a drop of water tattooed on her left shoulder blade, a trivial, beautiful design on her left hand, spiralling up her middle finger and up to her wrist, which makes most think of water.

Appearance: -Pic!-Her eyes are her most stunning trait: bright, ice blue with a goldenish ring around the pupils and dark blue ring around the iris.

Profession/Speciality: She?s been studying the Elemental arts since she was four, always showing a stunning talent with Water. She fights alongside her Master, getting a close look to all the slaughter. She has made many strong attacks herself.

    Weapons: Staff, Elemental powers.

Bio: Born in a tribe which trained kids with Earth powers, Marina and her twin brother Karim were soon sent off to different tribes. Marina showed a stunningly strong ability as a Hydromancer, while her twin soon showed the same stunning ability as a Pyromancer.
She grew up trained by Leith, a powerful Hydromancer who taught her how to control her great power, and how to do much more than simply control her element -water-.

Now Aysu -The whole tribe?s name for her, a twisted combination of the ancient words for moon and water- can not only control water at her will, but also see things in it, use it for powerful attacks, and even create it, using the humidity of the air around her.

Such great power couldn?t come for free, and forcing of her abilities soon started to harm the young mage. There?s days when she loses her sight, either partially or completely, giving her eyes a dull, opaque look -pic!-. She also loses all sensitivity and use on them, and she?s not able to blink or close her eyes at will. This whole situation can turn very dangerous for her, and is considered one of her greatest weaknesses -among others like her lack of physical strength and her being claustrophobic-

Instead of marching away with the rest of her fellow warriors, the young mage made a small puddle of water before her. She was siting right at the back, and she could not hear a word of whatever the Archmage had to speak with Aero and Draco. Her bright eyes were fixed on the watter on the floor before her. Slender eyebrows knitted together in deep concentration.

Everything was calm outside, she examined closer. No, not much movement. She wondered when the battle would start. Shifting her power, she saw her brother, all ready outside. Almost bored, she broke the image with her small fingertips and stood up, turning to head outside as well.

    Captain Jonais Von Stukov

The Ghost Orchid was a very nice ship, but Von Stukov was tiring of his confinement in it. He mused that his entire existence, at this point in time, was based on confinement, as his limited corporeal body could only do so much. It could do much more, if it weren't for these accursed limiters, he thought to himself.

His entrance into this world had not been fitting for a Daemon Lord such as he. The summoners were pitiful excuses for soldiers, and he had dispatched them for their insolence. Their priest was scarred, but left alive - a fitting punishment. In truth, the being called Xel'Chaas Na-Xaras'Ixitil Muad-Tzin - von Stukov's true name - had been incapable of doing much more. His body was weakened after the summoning, and he went into hiding.

It was not two hours after he had hidden himself that Xel'Chaas had been captured by the Mechanus. Their mechanics and odd fusion of technology had repulsed him at first. It still did, but when forced to live with such conditions, one adapted to what was at hand.

Von Stukov, as he came to be known, found that the Mechanus were, for all their strange technology, a much stronger force than the pitiful Gharderaani fanatics. And this way, he could set himself up as a force to be reckoned with once the war was ended.

The stressed voice of Dhavok crackled over the microphone. Von Stukov's quarters were silent, but for the intrusion of this voice and the drone of the engines.

"I am here, Commander. Your tanks are poorly positioned, if you'll pardon the criticism."

Much as he detested the smugness of most Mechanus, Dhavok was a man he enjoyed speaking with. He was smarter than the others. He and Maya, the Ghost Orchid's captain, were the two Mechanus he could stand to talk to.

    "How are things looking?"

Our divination teams say that they are in great peril, 'in danger of failing at the key time' so they say. I've never really relied too much on soothesaying, but It couldn't hurt to reinforce." he waited a moment before asking "Any questions?"

Dhavok smiled at the static riddled voice of the golem. "Don't I know it, but these lillie-livered "commanders" in here don't like the hdea of losing too much armor. Ha! If we don't win this battle we wont have enough coal to run the damn things anyways!" he said to the com, "See anything on the way in? And I mean anything. I don't think I could stand another 'no activity as of yet' report."

    The Ghost Orchid

"Good morning Commander Dhavok." Maya said confidently while striding onto the bridge. Her hair was loose over her shoulders, the onyx hair contrasting perfectly on her ivory skin. She used to avoid going outside in order to keep her skin pure like an orchid but as of recently it was no longer neccesary, the skies had turned dark with soot and magic, giant clouds of smoke covered the battlefields, which seemed to be a place she spent far too long at. "Is there a safe place to set down Alexandria, your correspondant was very unspecific about the location of the enemy. I have over a 100,000 souls suspended beneath me, I don't want to be flying over enemy magiks."

"Understood." Draco said standing up straight and saluting Veros by placing his fist on his chest. With a nod to the other two Draco started toward the door. In a way he had wished it would be something more than defending some place.

    IC: Marina

"Mist! You made it!" the Archmage's voice sounded behind her, smile evident on his tone "Come, you would be perfect to cool this one's temper."

Marina turned and approached the Archmage, giving a deep, graceful curtsy before him.

"Yes, sir?" she asked softly, giving a polite nod towards Aero and the young pyromancer.

"I need you three to support the conjuration circles on our left flank. Our divination teams say that they are in great peril, 'in danger of failing at the key time' so they say. I've never really relied too much on soothesaying, but It couldn't hurt to reinforce." he waited a moment before asking "Any questions?"

"Not from me at least, sir" Answered the young mage, giving another curtsy and turning to leave before flashin a friendly smile at Aero.

    Von Stukov

The daemon stood, his tall frame casting eerie shadows in the dull yellow light of the cabin. He checked his window - the tanks were milling about, still, but what caught his eye were the enemy lines advancing inch by inch. Surely nothing major, but von Stukov thought that it was time to show the others what the Mechanus could do.

"Commander, the armour will be fine, as long as it stays moving." The daemon's heavily filtered voice rasped through his mask, and he took a deep breath.

"And what would be the most efficient and effective way to keep it moving? Keep it in combat. If we move two units together, one covering whilst the other moves, we can both maintain our heavy support, and strike at the enemy."

    Scragg
((Change: my wepon is short rapier not dagger))

Scragg moved swiftly threw tall grass, he looked around he and his tribe were all ready. The goblins were on their way to join the Arkyles when they found a small group of Mechanus camped out in the praiae. The goblins all rubbed their hands toghter calling forth the fire that served them. They all shot a line of fire at the human's camp. Fire landed on powder barrels which exploded causing mass havic on the small group of humans. The goblins drew their short rapiers and charged in to kill the survivors of the humans.
