Calgary Calgary Expo - April 26-27 2008

Yrol - I know that I have not signed up for any shifts yet. I am getting screwed around with at work (again, and as usual). Earlier this week, I was told I probably could NOT get the days off (lots of reasons why....I won't go into it ALL here). Despite me booking them almost 2 months ago. Anyway, I am "in talks" with a couple co-workers to make several shift trades, so there is still (high) hope for me.

 

Okay, I didn't expect the suggestion to go over that poorly. Consider it retracted. I'm sorry I offended you guys.

Kris, good luck on getting the shifts changed. That sucks they're messing with you schedule like that. Didn't they do that last year too?

 

Kris - I hope things go your way in getting the weekend off. Wouldn't be the same without you Keep us posted as to your status.

I have managed to wrangle Friday and Saturday off. Tomorrow (Tuesday), I'll be trying to trade (or even buy) a Sunday shift trade.

 

Hey Yrol...I am not able to do Sunday at all now due to a personal family issue, I will be there for Sat. though for sure.

 

I'm there all day Sunday and Saturday.

 

All right!

I was able to get the Sunday off too! So I have all weekend! I can finally start signing up/volunteering!

 

ok i can do th 4-6 shift on sunday cus i will be back in town by 2:30 at the latest so i sill am able to go yay

 

Just 1 1/2 weeks away! Here's what we know:

*VOLUNTEERING: there's been a few changes in volunteering for the Expo this year. Unlike years past, if you volunteer for the Expo, you CANNOT wear a costume. They want all volunteers to be easily identifiable to the general public (by wearing an EXPO volunteer tee) and to avoid any traffic congestion (people stopping to take photos, etc). You're free to wear your costume after your volunteer shift.
-There is a volunteer room. However, it is NOT a secure/locked room. Anyone can walk in. Please be aware of this if you're planning on stashing your valuables there. The CCEE and the Stampede Grounds will not be held responsible for lost or stolen items. As well, the Stampede is being a bit difficult about food/water provisions for the room. It is advised that you bring your own water/water bottle. Coco Brooks will have a kiosk in the hall for food.

*Volunteering for the FF table does NOT mean you get in FREE. You must still buy a pass. Passes are $25 for the weekend or $15 for a day. Passes are available at RED5 Collectibles. If you're planning on volunteering your time at the FF table please do let us know. I will be posting the finalized schedule next week. Also, if you'd like to display something on the table, let us know.

*Matthew Wood is listed as having a panel on Saturday from 11-1. No word on what the autograph fee is.
*There is no information yet available for Daniel Logan regarding panels, or autograph fees. Please keep checking the Expo site for more info.

Aside from the obvious events coming up.

Go to the CCEE website, and look for the "Volunteers" section. They have a list of the positions and an email address.

 

So I just E-mail them my name and the times I want to volunteer?

As a costumed FanForce member you are eligible for a refund as we are under PR duty if we are in costume. This way we can get you in for free.

Here is a quick email I got from Kandrix

We will give a refund to those that picked up tickets, or they can use it to get a Phoenix print. Either or is fine. Just let me know because I have to make sure I get Gene to sign all of them!

So please post here if you are going to be in costume and would like to take advantage of this offer.

Does this mean that I will NOT have to stand in line, and we can get in early as in previous years?

 

I will be in costume, but I'm volunteering, so I guess I get in free one way or another.

I also would like to display some art on the table again, I will have labels for them this time.
