I had dinner with my dad and his wife, then visited his side of the family. It's good to have Thanksgiving off. :)

I'm rubbish with listing what I'm thankful for. I always feel like I've left something/someone out.

Oh, right, we were supposed to do that today, weren't we?

Well, then, I'm thankful for my friends and supportive family members, and for my apartment with a dishwasher that I'm going to use tonight! :D

I cooked for over 6 hour, burned my arm and hand, injured my wrist, hosted 10 people and it would have been nice if any of them had said thank you for taking us in for all of a holiday. I did get possibly the coolest birthday gift I've had to date: The Hobbit-themed tarot deck. My friend has done readings for me over the years and I expressed interest in getting a deck of my own.

Ooh, I've not seen a Hobbit themed tarot deck! I was tempted to preorder a game because it came with a tarot deck themed to the game.

That's spiffy. The Wheel of Fortune card is Bilbo and Gollum telling riddles.

Heeeey, I said thank you at least three times to you, and twice to Kate!

Well, I was up at 3:30 AM this morning. My son went and ate a lot of turkey yesterday. So he falls asleep after dinner...around 6PM. At 3AM he wakes up and can't get to back sleep. So he decides to sit in a dark room and play a zombie killing video game. Suddenly the cat decides to jump in his lap. He gives a startled "Aaaaaaggghhhhh!" which wakes me up. I come running out of the bedroom and he is holding the cat and looking embarrassed. He explained that the cat scared him. I send him back to his room to read a book or something.

I go back to sleep but now the cats are wide awake and walking over me, rubbing their head against mine and other things cats do to try to get you to get up and feed them on demand. I shoo them off the bed and then they all decide that they want to fight and chase each other around the room.

So I get up to feed them. And by then I can't get back to sleep. So I've been up since 3:30 AM and now everybody in the house except me is asleep including the fat and happy cats. [face_waiting]

Today was the Japanese equivalent of Labor Day, which I celebrated by working.

Lol. Cats are evil like that. Once, after staying up till an unholy hour studying, I go brush my teeth, but when I open the bathroom door afterwards, I come face-to-face with my cat, whose sitting on a tall dresser. It scared the living poop out of me. And of course I scream and wake half the house.

I hate it when they sit on a high dresser and you end up eye-to-eye with some glowing eyes! "There's something in my room...and it's not human!"

My stupid kitten likes to sit in the toilet. INSIDE the toilet with his head under the seat, so when you go in, he jumps out and scares you. He is a kitten of my friend's barn cat. I think one of the horses must have kicked him in the head or something because he is a nut job. He plays in the toilet and then jumps out and leaves water all over the seat. For the longest time I was yelling at my boys, "Lift up the seat if you can't aim!" Then I find out it was the stupid cat splashing water all over the seat. Weird, weird cat.

ROTFL! My cat likes to drink from the toilet, but he's never actually never hid in the toilet. Our cat loves to sit on top of the cupboards like a gargoyle.

Then at 2AM they jump down from those cupboards and it sounds like you are in the mist of a home invasion. "WHAT WAS THAT NOISE?!"

I just weighed my 7 month old kitten...I guess he is a cat now. TEN POUNDS! I never had a fat cat in the decades I have owned cats, but this one is going to be a sumo kitty.

When that one roommate asked me for my recipe for things, I flat-out told her that I didn't think she'd liked it since she hadn't even said "thank you." Katey then pointed out that as far as she knows, I missed three times of people saying thank you. I kind of got annoyed that that family that came did what they always did when I make dinner: they thanked Katey. I mostly got my feelings hurt last night by having the only untouched dessert after I missed half of the movie to hand-make it and that made me super-sensitive about the thank you thing because of things like people trying to leave without even saying goodbye to me so they could get to Black Friday stuff. A lot of things about the whole holiday pissed me off, though not as much as last year, which means I won't be telling anyone I won't speak to them until they get professional help.

Holidays should not be like that. It is unfortunate. Of course I haven't been with my immediate family for Thanksgiving for probably twenty years. Nothing personal we all love each other...we just hate traveling. We live all over the USA from Maryland to Michigan to Mississippi to California and Oregon. All my siblings are scattered across the country and my parents and grandparents have all passed away. It would be nice if we could get together, but that would mean a lot of people traveling across country.

Well, I got together with 2/3 siblings a month ago and now I'm getting together in 13 hours with 2/3, just with the missing brother and missing a sister. I also accidentally forgot to update my Facebook wish list and my sister stood in line for an hour to buy me Brave, not knowing that I'd gotten it when feeling miserable on Monday.

I guess you can donate it to Toys for Tots or some other charitable organization. You would make some child very happy.

She's returning it. I have my wishlist on FB because it's easier than fielding a billion calls from my parents, cousins, friends from high school, etc. going "Um, so what did you want again?"

My family doesn't exchange gifts. So there is no use for me doing that. Oh, but my boys expect me to buy them something...like a lap top or Photoshop for their computer. It's never something cheap.

    Buy Photoshop?? Buy?? :p

My family doesn't exchange gifts as often anymore. My brother and I have pretty much been all but forgotten as our folks lavish gifts on the grandkids. We get our niece and nephews gifts and get gifts for each other and our friends, and our folks, but due to budget restraints, we can't afford much. People on my gift list will be getting scarves.

The gift depends on the friend or family member for me. One is getting gift cards to restaurants we like because she doesn't get to eat out much. One is getting a Legend of Zelda t-shirt. My parents are getting a photobook of my best pics from Ireland, Arizona and California trips this year.

I'm with TrakNar on this. Who BUYS photoshop? :p Just kidding. I got photoshop free with my computer, but the majority of the people I know just illegally download it.

My immediate family does the whole gift exchange thing. I have my mother, sister and her boyfriend done. My step-father just wants a fidget widget keychain and bubble bath, so thats easy. But I am at a complete lost for my 13-year old twin brothers. I want to put SOME thought into their gift, but all they want is itunes gift card and xbox games. Where's the fun in that?

But a facebook wish list is a good idea for the grandparents and step-grandparents (yes, I have both on my facebook). My brothers are the only grandkids for the step-grandparents, so they, along with my sister and I - to a lesser extent - get spoiled silly.

I wanted apple pie, DarthIshtar, I was just horribly full by the time I was sure I wouldn't burn my tongue on it. :( If there's any left on Monday (which I doubt), I'd love to have some.

I bought my copy of CS2 from my dad. Well, really, he was selling his two copies, and I "bought" one in exchange for work for him.

    I bought Photoshop, student edition.

Piracy is not only a crime...but in America you can end up with a tougher sentence than if you murdered someone. And I really wish I was joking about that.

The student copies are usually exactly the same and often 90% off the normal price.

My fiance and I have decided to either make gifts or only buy from local merchants this year instead of going for all the commercialism. So, I'm writing stories for my son and fiance (I'm actually going to do two stories for my fiance... one that won't be embarrassing if my son reads it, and another will be something more adult oriented [face_batting] ). I bought some nice paper to print the stories on. Thing is, I'm not sure how to bind them... staples are rather tacky. LOL
