I just got home from taking mum to the cinema. Part of her birthday present you see.

Les Mis. 3 hours of very mixed performances (There should have been an entire ADR team working on Russell Crowe's songs alone!), but mum loved it. So I persuaded her to stop at Asda on the way home so I could get a birthday card. What she doesn't know is I got her a last minute surprise and got her the soundtrack with the last of my money.

Then next week, when I have some more in my pocket, she'll get one last present, a trip up to London. Haven't decided what to do while there, but the plan is in place.

Sorry Zapdos, my sleep pattern has been pretty messed up lately.

I'm okay thanks. Just want to get the parents' birthdays out of the way this weekend. The grandparents haven't bothered to contact us and let us know if dad is out of the hospital for the weekend though, so I have no clue what is going on for my Dad's birthday.

Yeah I see.. Maybe you should contact them yourself? Or.. I don't know how your relationship with them are.

 

I'm going to have to contact them tomorrow at some point. My relationship with them is okay. I just don't like talking to them sometimes because it can get a little awkward.

 

Oh, okay... Well, the best of luck with that! You are very good to your family, considering everything.

 

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to be honest. I've made an effort to be there for my father, and my grandparents remain so insular that I have no clue what is going on. Bleh.

 

That sucks.. But I admire you for not giving up. I would have done that a loong time ago.. Never been the patient, understanding type myself.

 

I think I'm only patient and understanding because no one was understanding of me when I needed it most in my life. So I know how being on the receiving end of it can feel.
