The thing about items like this is that many scientists will not debate creationists because 1. They give them the attention they want and 2. even the best scientist can be beaten in a debate no matter how correct he or she may be.

I've always believed that the ultimate test of tolerance is to tolerate the intolerant. Within the bounds of reason, of course.

We already tolerate the intolerant in that they're allowed to say the sort of crap they have on their minds. They just shouldn't be able to get their way at the expense of whoever they happen to be prejudiced against.

I agree, but in order to prevent that, the tolerant must outnumber the intolerant. In the case of gay marriage, that's a pretty recent development, sadly.
