    John and Matthew knew Jesus, though Mark and Luke might have too.

    Most were only written 20-40 years after Jesus died. The Pauline epistles were written no later than 30 years after Jesus died (since Paul died 30 years after Jesus, and scholars agree that almost all attributed to Paul were written by him).

    The Gospels were not written by the people they're named after. John as it appears in the Bible did not exist until about 100 CE, and it's by far the worst one to cite if you want to claim there was a historical Jesus. And Paul only wrote about half of the things attributed to him.

    I was in a hotel a few months ago and I found a bible in a drawer right next to the bed. I'm totally not kidding...it was there.
