I know this comes down to what the survey said.. but still... Gymnastics isn't a sport.

Neither is track and field, then.

    Both are considered Olympic sports.

And since Lowie is on, I assume he's already pm'd his answer. I'm willing to give zacparis his 24 hours to get his answer in; if he doesn't, then I'm replacing him for this round with an alternate.

Track and field has a subjective scoring system of farther or better. Gymnastics does not. I know people consider it a sport, I just consider them wrong.

So by that reckoning you'd say chess was a sport?

I'd say a definition for sport would require that it be a test of physical strength and/or skill, as well as objectively scored.

Chess fails on the first part, gymastics on the second.

There was quite a good thread in the Arena where we discussed the definition of sport. I don't think we reached a consensus lol

Incidentally, this is also why I generally figure boxing is only a sport in the case of a knock-out. Where it doesn't go to the judges.

We should focus on winning this.

    *sighs*

You can take the JCer out of the Senate, but you can't take the Senate out of the JCer.

I'd like to see you tell Jack Johnson, Gene Tunney, and Jake LaMotta that they weren't sportsmen a large percentage of the time.

I think we're gonna need an alternate for zac. He hasn't logged in for a few days.

Agreed. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I know he logged into his Xbox Live account yesterday and the Mrs. sent him a message to check in here, so he's out for this round. Maulfly is his replacement.

For this question, we surveyed 100 Americans. The top five answers are on the board ...

Name a role that Harrison Ford played

    Lowbacca: Han Solo!

    Show us ... Han Solo

    1. ___________
    2. Han Solo___ 33
    3. ___________
    4. ___________
    5. ___________

Good, but not #1. Door is open for JEDI MIND TRICKS ...

    Maulfly: How about Jack Ryan?

    1. ___________
    2. Han Solo___ 33
    3. Jack Ryan__ 13
    4. ___________
    5. ___________

    Bank Value: 46

Good, but not enough to take control from Literati, who grab the board again.

Drago: Name a role that Harrison Ford played

My logic was this.... it would be extremely embarassing if Han Solo ended up being the top answer and I hadn't said it on a Star Wars board. And I knew it'd have to be top two.

The better question is: who's jack ryan?

I doubt we'll be able to steal this one, guys. I can think of 4 more roles off the top of my head, and I know for certain 3 will be on the list... :(
